Some people collect toys while others love getting hold of some kitschy vintage stuff. But for all your bike enthusiasts, I've got just the right place for you to visit - Bzkleta!
Don't be fooled by the name or the look of the shop upon first entering. While it looks a bit like a junkyard, this place actually holds a lot of crazy expensive bikes and bike parts. I got to interview Lee Pua, the owner of the shop, during one of my segment shoots for a lifestyle show I worked on before. He toured me around the shop (which was then still at Horseshoe in San Juan), showed me his three most prized bike models (one of which dates back to the late 1800s) and some of the other vintage items he's got. He actually has a real-life jukebox - the kind that you see on television shows and movies!
Here in Bzkleta, they specialize in bike restoration. If you happen to have your great great grand lolo sa tuhod's old bike and would like to restore it to its pre-World War I glory, then the guys at Bzkleta can take care of that for you. Think MTV's Pimp My Ride with less cursing and more working. Is getting that screw for your bike driving you crazy because you can't seem to find it in malls or sports shops, Bzkleta probably has those in hand already. Just bring down your bike and let them work their magic! From painting to putting together the parts, they got you covered!
Bzkleta is definitely my go-to bike restoration shop. Everyone is super nice and accommodating, plus they're work will leave you saying "Amazeballs!". Visit them at their newest home in Marikina! read more
