Valet parking is available, since street parking is pretty hard to find. We went around 6 PM and there was no line so you should get there early cause it can get packed pretty quick. There were only 3 workers serving the whole restaurant, so service wasn't the fastest, but they were especially attentive to our table and helped grill most of the meat for us. My friend and I ordered the Sun Combo for two and it was definitely enough food to keep us FULL. The meat quality was solid but nothing too different from other KBBQ spots. Since we weren't drinking, they let us swap the soju for two sodas. The daechang comes out frozen, but the 곱 (filling) is packed and better quality than a lot of other KTown places -- just don't expect the same quality you'd get in Korea.

Stellar service for a tiny kbbq joint that specializes in intestines. Air flow isn't great in here, but we luckily sat right by the door so I came out smelling fresh. What I like about their style here is that they'll cook the super splattery stuff on the side next to you because tables are tiny. That's pretty courteous of them to not want customers to get oil burns. The steak and intestines were great, but I'd pass on any chicken items next time. They give you as much banchan and salad as you want, and there are plenty of dipping sauces. There are also a thousand TVs all around for Dodgers games (blech). Prices are $$$ and parking is non-existent so go for the valet ($5).

We came here on Valentine's Day as a party of 7 and quickly realized why there was no wait while every other Korean BBQ had over an hour line. We ordered the $79 Big Bang Combo, and the portions were shockingly small with low-quality meat. We also got the army stew and kimchi pancake -- everything tasted below average. Service was terrible. The server overcooked and burnt our meat, forgot our water refill four times, and had a rude attitude. Worst of all, she used the same tongs for raw meat and then to serve our army stew. When we pointed out the cross-contamination, she acted like it wasn't a big deal. Overall, bad food, small portions, and unacceptable service. Definitely not recommended.

Wanted gobchang and happened to be in the area, so we decided to give this place a try instead of the famous restaurant right next door that we usually go to for KBBQ, and I'm so glad we did. The two Imo who helped us were incredibly warm and attentive, and the service felt so genuine. The large intestines were delicious, and they cook everything right next to you, which makes the experience even better. The banchan and bean soup were also noticeably better than many other places we've tried (and we've been to quite a few of the well-known spots around LA, OC, and SD). What surprised us was how quiet it was for 7pm on a Sunday, it almost felt like we had the whole place to ourselves, which gave it such a hidden gem vibe. I really hope more people discover this spot because the food and hospitality truly deserve it. They're literally right next to the famous restaurant I mentioned earlier that always has a long line, but this place definitely deserves just as much love! Sorry, forgot to take a before photo I was too excited to start eating the gobchang lol

Made the mistake of ordering the Comet and Big Bang combos. I know the Gobchang is the specialty but I was with people who weren't feeling that choice sadly. So both of these combos were pork, chicken, and beef. Pork was not the business. Very dry, and the fat didn't render properly. Same with the chicken as the connective tissue was just too tough to get through by a certain point. Our server was hit or miss. Super nice and helpful but I just was in a picky mood. She gave me some pork belly that was half burnt and half untouched like pls I just want a little crisp here lol. Beef was the strongest and was nicely marinated. The Beef rib though was also very fatty with globules rippled within the meat. The soups were both exceptional and the banchan was tasty! But the meat should shine. Definitely willing to come back for the Gobchang.

Seriously one of my favorite hidden spots in KTown inside a very busy strip mall next to Nadarang!!! If you know you know.....Can you say RibEye CAP!!! Oh yeah!! And they even do eel and intestines if you like!!! Banchan, soups and stews are also an absolute must!!! I especially love the staff and owners!!! Absolutely welcoming and so friendly!!! FYI ask for ICED soju!!!!

OMG! Where to begin! This was my first time ordering food for take out and wow was I surprised. Not only were the food packaged well, but they provided a generous amount of side dishes. The lunch Yuk gae jang was extremely flavorful and the quality of the meat was superb. The infamous gobchang also lived up to its name! I was afraid the portion and texture would be different but it was quite the opposite. They cooked the meat to perfection and it was just as crispy as when I dined in. To top it off, they provided a large container of their famous garlic dipping sauce! Good Korean fresh water eel is difficult to find in LA. There are a few places that sell them but it doesn't taste as good as Byul gob chang. The reason for it is the way they grill the eel. Korean fresh water eel needs to be grilled in a certain temperature to keep the moisture in and crispy on the outside without burning it. Everytime I dine here, the eel is cooked perfectly. And to no surprise, my togo eel was as tasty as always. They provided a big portion of all the side dishes necessary to accompany the eel (garlic, jalapenos, ginger, perilla leaves and the dipping sauce). This place is truly a hidden gem in k-town. The aunties there are always so polite and friendly. It also has a cool-old fashioned vibe which is hard to find nowadays. I highly recommend Byul gobchang!!

Ambiance: it's a traditional style Korean bbq place, right next to one of the most popular ayce kbbq restaurants Service: super friendly and attentively, they will cook the meat for you Food: combo has the best value and the portion is good for 2~3 people Banchan - **** very well prepared, egg rolls, glass noodles, seaweed, kimchi, fish cake, bean sprouts, fresh salad, and cold buckwheat jelly soup, recommend Beef Brisket - **** chewy meat, recommend Prime Ribeye Steak - **** juicy meat, recommend Beef Bulgogi - *** sweet taste Chicken Bulgogi - *** sweet taste Kimchi Stew - **** tofu, onions, rice cake slices, recommend Price: premium quality and reasonable prices, about $50 per person for a fulfilling meal

Byul combo - the best!!!

Highlights: Ribeye cap, Byul combo This restaurant has been my go-to spot for the past decade, where I make sure to visit at least once a month. Not only is the quality of the meat exceptional, but they also serve the best gopchang and daechang. Here I always start my meal with the ribeye cap, which melt in your mouth. Following that with gopchang and daechang paired with soju makes for an unbeatable combination. To finish off, their yangbap and gochujang jjigae complete the perfect Korean soul food dining experience. The aunties who have been working there for the past ten years are incredibly warm and nice and make the place feel like home. Highly recommend!

I got just 2 main dishes. And those're really tasty and gravy! Even sides are really good. Music/Services great. nothing more or less. I and my family felt comfortable there. Recommand? Yes! If you are curious about the special taste of Korean people. :)

The banchan was really good especially the green one which I think was mustard greens. We order the Bossam (medium) and Spicy Seafood Kalguksu The Bossam was delicious but maybe a bit too much fat for my taste but I think that's just personal preference. What totally blew us away was the spicy seafood kalguksu. The broth was so savory and the noodles were silky and bouncy. Definitely getting this again but my hubby might do his with extra spice. The portions are huge so meant to be shared and you will have leftovers. The only thing they were stingy with was napkins. I might have to bring my own Kleenex next time.

There is also the option to visit H Mart and get validation with a purchase there, of course. Try to come towards the beginning / end of dinner service, because coming during rush hour may result in a 30-45 minute wait - very worth the wait, though! My friend and I visit on occasion and enjoy their Clam Kalguksu, which is a dish you may not find at other Kalguksu places. The clams are always fresh, clean and free of sand. I'm always impressed with how well they can mask the clamminess and taste of the sea with the spices in this dish. Their other dishes like bossam and chicken porridge. The bossam is decent, though I wouldn't recommend the chicken porridge. The chicken porridge gets thick and dry fairly easily. If you don't enjoy it fast, it will become a chore to eat! During rush hour, you may also need to get your own utensils / ladle because the staff may forget. Plan also to eat fast, too, because they may subtly rush you with the bill... after all, they do often get lines out the door!

The golden chicken nuggets with seaweed powder on top are so perfectly crispy and packed with flavor. I have to admit the corn cheese egg rolls are probably my favorite thing on the menu, something as simple like a mozzarella stick type of appetizer just really hits it for me. It is pretty elegant inside, away from the shabbiness that most older strip malls in this area now reflect. I came with my daughter's father-in-law (SJ) for a weekend lunch, and we really enjoyed it. Kobawoo is named after the main character in a famous Korean satirical comic strip, with the name evoking resiliency in Korean culture, just like what the owners wanted for their restaurant. It has a nice modern website, with one page menu appearing with pictures. We took the Metro so didn't need to worry about parking (which was already packed) and were seated right away. Pretty much everyone inside were speaking Korean, and it was actually pretty quiet inside with a low key vibe (no flaming cheese or sizzling plates here). SJ ordered for us, getting the Combo Bossam ($75.99). The normal part was boiled pork belly with napa cabbage (both boiled plain and uncut pickled), pickled daikon, radish kimchi and wraps, and salt fermented shrimp. The combo portion added steamed skate and glazed pork feet (hock). We got to choose the steamed rice accompaniment, either white or purple. Later we got a large bottle of Cass Beer ($9.99) to share. Four banchans came immediately with the rice, and all were excellent: I really liked the egg omelet dish (def taking more than my share) and the cut napa kimchi. There was a bit of a lull, then the feet came out next. then the skate next, the main plate of pork belly with toppings last. The pork belly was served slightly warm, with the rest of the food being room temp (or cold). I enjoyed the pork belly, not so much the skate (didn't realize how gelatinous and [edible] boney it is) and the pork feet (served cold hock, not my favorite as the ratio of collagen/fat to muscle was too much for my taste, but glad I got to try it). Even though we ate meat from the most fatty/gelatinous parts of the pig, none of it was overly greasy. The ability to customize to get levels of spice and structure is what makes this so good. Each bite was an adventure, and I really enjoyed trying different combo wraps with the various ingredients laid out in front. Was glad that we had a booth for four, allowing us to spread out. We definitely ordered too big for the two of us, bringing a lot of it home. They have more affordable lunch specials as well, but it being a Saturday was not available. They do have the traditional dishes served by Korean restaurants (Kalbi, BibimBap, and JJigae). They are also known for their their jun (pancakes). Service was good, with them only coming over when asked. We had a lot to catch up on, and never felt hurried as we casually enjoyed our food and drink. They brought over take home containers once we asked, and paid at the table. The servers wished us well as we left, and we noticed how the parking situation had gotten even more hectic from the time we came in. The restaurant appears in Eater's 'Classic Los Angeles Restaurants Every Angeleno Must Try' list, specifically for the boiled pork belly dish. Bossam isn't usually the dish most folks think of when choosing Korean food. If it is, this restaurant certainly is the place to come to.

If you're searching for some of the city's best pork, then those in the know will bring up Ham Ji Park. For 2 decades, generous platters of pork ribs and pork neck stew decked every table. Now, our Korean friends lament the loss of their favorite pork joint in the city. The Koreatown proper location is located in the Royal Plaza mini-mall, just a few blocks off bustling Wilshire. Discounted parking is available in a lot across the street from the Chevron gas station. From the street, the entrance is flanked by potted plants and an enclosed street-ery. Inside, stainless steel chairs are pressed up against wooden tables, each outfitted with a metal grill. Oppressive fluorescent lighting shines down on the stone grey walls, which are left undecorated apart from a few flatscreens. Multi-lingual chatter blends with the sizzle of platters. I visited with some friends for a weeknight dinner, and about half of the tables were occupied. We shared a spread of grilled platters and sizzling soups. The meal began with a carafe of barley tea and a mostly standard spread of banchan. Across our food, the best dish was the signature Charbroiled Pork Spare Rib. The ribs were flavorful without feeling gamey, and the meat was complemented by sweet caramelized onions. The pork ribs handily outdid the good-not-great Charbroiled Beef Short Rib. Lastly, the Milt and Cod Rose with Vegetables stew was fishy and briny, appropriately flavored for the Korean palate. The service was appropriately attentive, although I would've appreciated more intentional refills of our banchan ramikens. The rib plates cost upward of $35 each, while the soup was just under $30. The portions were hearty; a single entree platter could reasonably feed 2 moderately hungry bellies. It's a shame to hear that Ham Ji Park has closed; I'm kicking myself for not trying their pork neck stew earlier.
