LET'S TALK ABOUT WHAT REALLY MATTERS AT BYRON MANOR.
I'm speaking out because I believe our elderly residents deserve better than what I witnessed while working at Byron Manor. These are human beings who deserve dignity, compassion, respect, and proper care -- not people who should ever be treated like dollar signs.
Bryan Cramer, the administrator, and Jessica, the Director of Wellness (DOW), need to take a serious look at what is happening inside that facility.
One of the most concerning things I witnessed was that the employees who work directly with the residents often seemed to know them better than the people in leadership. The aides and medication technicians are the ones providing hands-on care day after day. We learn residents' personalities, routines, behaviors, needs, fears, and changes in condition because we are the ones spending our shifts with them.
And that raises a serious question: How can leadership truly understand a resident's needs if the employees providing their daily care appear to know more about them than the people making decisions about their care?
The administrator and DOW should make it a priority to know these residents, especially when the DOW and Bryan the administrator is involved in evaluating residents before they move into the facility. Those evaluations are supposed to help determine whether the facility can meet their needs. Knowing a resident should not stop once the paperwork is completed and the resident moves in. These are people, not files, room numbers, or another payment coming through the door.
From my perspective, there were times when it felt like the financial side of running the facility mattered more than listening to the employees who were actually caring for the residents. When the people providing hands-on care feel ignored, when staffing concerns are raised, and when employees feel they are not being heard, that should concern everyone.
I worked in this field because caring for people matters to me. These residents have families who trust a facility to protect their loved ones, provide appropriate care, and treat them like human beings. Families deserve transparency, employees deserve to be heard, and residents deserve leadership that is involved and accountable.
Bryan Cramer and Jessica, residents deserve more than leadership in name only. They deserve leaders who know them, listen to the staff who care for them, take concerns seriously, and put residents' well-being first.
I will not pretend that everything was fine simply because staying silent would be easier. Speaking up about concerns in a care facility should never be treated as a problem. The real priority should always be the safety, dignity, and well-being of the residents.
At the end of the day, this is not just a business. These are people's parents, grandparents, spouses, and loved ones. If we lose sight of their humanity, then we have lost sight of what caregiving is supposed to mean.
OUR ELDERLY DESERVE CARE, NOT JUST A PRICE TAG. THEIR VOICES MATTER. THEIR LIVES MATTER. AND ACCOUNTABILITY MATTERS.
