Demo of pool still underway! It took many truckloads to remove all that concrete.
Alexis M.

Our choice to hire BBP for our full pool demo was one of the smartest decisions my husband and I have ever made. These decisions aren't easy but our pool was 55+ years old and a leak detection company found several leaks that required repairs. For us the writing was on the wall, we could continually repair an old, seldom used, massive pool and pay ever increasing higher water and power bills or get rid of it! Most people go their entire lives without ever looking to hire a pool demo company but we approached it the same way we do any hiring decision...we performed our due diligence, obtained several bids and read numerous online reviews. Ultimately our decision to hire BBP came down to their competitive bid and overwhelmingly positive online reviews. We signed the contract for a full demo in mid-February 2023 and by late March 2023 our demo was underway. The project began with the crew removing fence panels to gain entry for the bobcats and laying plywood on the grass and patio to protect those surfaces. During the demo we had a couple hiccups completely unforeseen, which necessitated change orders. It turned out our pool was actually a pool within a pool. At some point during the last 55-90 years, a former owner shallowed the deep pool by adding additional concrete on top of the pool floor so our demo involved removal of two pool floors. Towards the end of the demo the crew discovered an additional concrete wall which could have remained but we opted to have it removed which required an additional change order fee. Since ours was a full demo, all the concrete was removed from the pool cavity before it was filled with dirt and compacted. Once the bobcats were removed the crew carefully reinstalled the fence post and panels. The entire process for us was completed in 3 weeks, a crew of 2 working Monday through Saturday. My husband and I were so impressed every single day by the professionalism of the BBP crew. The guys were always punctual, friendly and polite and never ended their day without completing a thorough cleanup of the work site. Rafael and Kenedy always made themselves available and responsive to any questions we had during the process. Susi was always available by phone or email anytime we needed assistance. BBP did it all by handling everything, the draining of the pool, permitting, inspections including the final inspection and sending over the signed inspection report confirming our former pool is now a future buildable site! My husband and I are thrilled to have reclaimed a sizable chunk of backyard real estate which we're looking forward to landscaping soon. During our demo we had several neighbors approach us to inquire about our pool demo experience and we enthusiastically recommended BBP. Thank you to everyone at BBP and their outstanding demo work!

Very precise demo keeping my brick work intact

Wanted partial pool removal and had 10 bids. Learned from each. Some were not so great. But about my eighth bid was Bye Bye pools. Rafael came out (owner) and he was very smart and clever guy. I was super impressed. I had many questions because I had learned to talk Pools! His whole approach was "can do"! And I read the help reviews and saw all the great customer service stories. But I was still skeptical! But I took a chance and went with Bye Bye Pools and have NO REGRETS. GREAT customer service. I worked most with Zander. He was the one who did the bulk of the work. He was in the Bobcat demoing pool and filling in pool. He was smart, listened well and friendly. Thank goodness, that was a relief. I had very specific needs for my pool. I wanted to keep some of edges around the pool. He skillfully used the bobcat to be VERY precise. I asked him if he was an athlete because he was so skillsful. He said NO, LOL. But I watched him and he must have made 200 trips compacting the soil in pool. I don't know how he didn't break the edges of the pool concrete I wanted to keep. GREAT precision. Amazing. And Zander's helper was great too. He was there every day helping make sure the pool was being filled at the right dampness. He too had a great attitude. And Susie at the office was great to coordinate. I knew from yelp reviews that I would have a good experience with her support. And yes, she was there as phone support every step of the way. You know something always goes a little wrong. And she was there to make it right. My job was tricky because we had to go through neighbors property to make this happen. Susie worked with me on wording of neighbor contract which was key to the success of this project. And of course, Bye Bye pools was licensed and bonded which was a must for me when dealing with a neighbor's property and MINE! The price we paid was about the same as all the other bids. So very fair cost but probably higher quality than the other bids I received. I have no regrets. Honesty when I saw the name bye bye pool, I was not impressed. I passed them over. But on second pass, I called them and so glad I did. And Kennedy was great too, who was supervisor. I spent less time with him but he had the same team spirit and customer service as everyone else. So glad my pool is gone! We have a yard. Thanks Bye Bye pools!

We found bye bye pool on Yelp. When we contacted them, we got the response immediately. They had a site visit and explained to us the process. They put together a quote that most reasonable compared to 2 other vendors we interviewed. The project proceeded according to the plan. When it is done, our backyard was transformed, from a dirty pool to a nice lawn. We will recommend them to our friends and family.

We recently did a full pool removal and selected BBP to do the job. The quoting process was fast and efficient, covering everything from demolition details, property access and city requirements. The bid was very competitive. In addition, BBP was accommodating when it came to scheduling the start date as well as protecting plants and property as they worked. The job started and finished within the time frame they quoted us. They dealt with the city building department for permitting, inspections and other building department special needs :) During the entire process Suzi (and at times others in the office) were informative and always available by phone. We highly recommend them if you are looking to free yourself from pool ownership.

After demolition.

Bye Bye Pool did a great job to remove our 50 year old pool in our property in San Mateo. We were a little delayed due to the rains this year, but the crew came as soon as it was dry and was able to remove the pool completely in a very quick timeframe. We did a complete removal with engineering. The engineering report took longer than expected but that is out of their control. Rafael and the team were easy to contact through texts and calls. Their equipment scratched part of the siding of our house but he came back to repair. Yard was graded properly. We are happy we don't need to look into a mosquito filled green pond everyday.

Gabriel created a backyard design rendering that was spot on to what we were looking for (we previously met with a different designer from another company and their design was not as good). The installation of the hardscape went smoothly and faster than we expected. Gabriel and his team are professional, responsive and easy to work with. They have relationships with other professionals (pergola installers, landscapers), which helped bring the backyard design to life.

It is about 6 feet deep, has jets attached to the pool, and has a metal as well as cement structure. In addition to the pool itself, there was a shed full of pool equipment, including motors, pool filter, and heater. BBP quickly obtained the necessary permits and, as promised, two weeks later I was contacted with a removal date of the following week. The work was completed in two days by four workers who were polite, efficient, and skilled. They were very careful with my property and the cleanup was impeccable. Everything was left in much better shape than I expected. From start to finish, every interaction I had with BBP was positive and professional. I have engaged countless businesses and people to work on my properties over the last 40 years and can say, without reservation, that this was the best experience I've had. I cannot recommend BBP highly enough.

From the beginning, JR was responsive and transparent. His quote was clear and fair, and we were very happy with his communication throughout the project. His crew was equally impressive: respectful, efficient, and professional, and they cleaned up the site every single day. We were working under a tight timeline, and PCR completed the job perfectly on time, which feels incredibly rare these days, especially considering we slightly expanded the scope of the fence project mid-way through. What really set them apart was how thoughtful and empathetic they were, taking care to work around an old, special tree to make sure it stayed healthy, and going above and beyond on small details like using extra wood and concrete to patch areas that needed it around the yard. One note though: if there are any plants you want to preserve, make sure to point them out so they know to work around them. Luckily I wasn't attached to any of my plants (except the tree) since many of them were destroyed this process. We were also very impressed with how the team handled feedback. When we weren't fully happy with the first set of stairs that were poured, they redid them in a day and the final result turned out great. The retaining wall and stairs look fantastic, and the new fence is beautifully done and clearly built to last for many years. Overall, this was a smooth, stress-free experience with a contractor who clearly takes pride in his work and stands by it. We would absolutely recommend JR and PCR Construction and wouldn't hesitate to work with them again.

We had a lot of work to do, and even though some landscapers came in with lower prices, they did not give us the confidence that they truly understood the project. We ended up choosing JR because he clearly knew what he was talking about and had real experience with full landscaping projects. Our project was a big one. We needed a structured retaining wall for our backyard terrace, a full redo of our front yard with artificial grass, and new concrete work in front of our garage. Throughout the entire process, JR and his team were professional, respectful, and easy to communicate with. They kept us updated, asked for our input, and made us feel like we were working together instead of just handing off a job. We have worked with contractors in the past who did not offer any guidance at all, and we later paid the price for those mistakes. JR and his team took care of our home like it was their own, always covering areas to prevent damage or dirt. That alone already set them apart from many others we have worked with. JR also took the time to share his thoughts on what would look best and what would be the most structurally sound. He never pushed us in any direction. He simply shared what he has seen work well over the years, and we honestly appreciated that. Most of the time, we ended up taking his advice because we knew it came from real experience. Another thing we were grateful for is how open he was to fixing or tweaking anything once a section was done. There was never any hesitation. It gave us a lot of trust in the whole process. I strongly recommend PCR Demo & Services to anyone looking for real expertise, solid craftsmanship, and a team that genuinely cares about the quality of their work. We are very happy with how everything turned out and would absolutely work with them again.

NAB removed all the bad concrete and replaced it with pavers, and on the other side of the court, they added 5 feet of concrete where we had lawn, as well as adding to our existing retaining wall. After the pavers were installed, I noticed something not to my preference with the paver layout. I contacted Nick, our site manager from NAB, and he was very responsive, and arranged for Nate (the company president) to come out right away and discuss the matter, which was resolved that same day to my complete satisfaction. Nick also was happy to arrange for a few other small tasks related to bricks and concrete on our property to be taken care of, and they were - at no added cost. NAB construction was not the lowest bid we got for this work, but I have learned the hard way that going with the lowest price is not always a great idea, and I am glad I went with NAB for this project.
