    Starlite Diner - Pancakes

Upon arriving at this diner we probably would have driven right by if not for the few reviews we…read moreread. The outside looks a little run down, a true hole in the wall as we say in the States and a lot of those hole in the walls are the best little treasures. That was the case here and we were glad we stopped in. My husband ordered just 3 plain pancakes and his first words out of his mouth were, "I thought they would be bigger than that ". lol...but they were great tasting pancakes. I got the Starlite omelette which had meats and cheese inside and was very good. I ordered the whole wheat toast and onions in my potatoes. I gave my husband a bite of my omelette and he told the waitress it was the best omelette he had ever had. I was hoping that wasn't a hint because I didn't slow down long enough to offer him anymore. But, I did give time a whole piece of toast too. We only had water to drink. Our order was taken and came out fairly fast. We would defiantly go back again for breakfast.

Over easy egg, yolk broke,so cook just mixed it together, looked like an omelet. The fried potatoes & onion ..some cooked ,some not. 3 slices of bacon,1 burnt. The toast was very good !! Found the same problems last year , 3 visits. Told under new management. Gave them this last chance & it was a failure............... Have to find a new breakfast location. I guess, there's always Timmies....................

While vacationing on Prince Edward Island this summer, we discovered that there are not a whole lot…read moreof dining options in the Tyne Valley portion of the island. Magically, we stumbled upon this gem. The Doctor's Inn is run by a couple, Paul and Jean, who ran an inn in their home for several years, but closed the inn several years ago and now just offer private dinners. My husband and I made a reservation and were a little afraid of the unknown (the website hasn't been updated since maybe 1990- DONT let it scare you away!), but we took the plunge! We were shown into the sitting room first for the first course, an array of cheeses and drinks. When we were ready, we were shown into the dining room for salads, dinner, and dessert. All of the ingredients were fresh and local, either from their own garden or farms close by. We did get to choose from a few dishes when we called to make reservations, so our meals were set before we arrived. Everything was quite tasty and made by the couple who own the home. The whole evening was very enjoyable. We were given plenty of privacy and time to linger over our meal, but we also enjoyed conversations with Paul and Jean. It was a really cozy experience because we were literally in someone else's home, family portraits on the wall and wall! The whole meal, drinks included, was $50 per person (well worth it) and was presented to us with truffles and flowers from the garden. This is one of the most memorable meals we have had on vacation, and I wish Jean and Paul advertised more so everyone could experience a meal here. If you're in town, PLEASE have a meal here!
