Known for it's intriguing combinations, This store offers amazing Liqueurs, spirits, fortified wines, oils and vinegars for you to fill up and take home in whatever size bottle you need. I remember being stumped for good gift idea's for my manly man friend, but after talking to the friendly sales staff I got to take home white port in a bottle that had a GLASS SHIP IN IT. (Needless to say it's so boss it still resides on the kitchen counter.) With liqueurs ranging from mango melon, pineapple, rose, limoncello, cognac and walnut, AND melon (as well as a yummy chocolate vodka.) This place definitely has you spoiled for choice. Now is the season for yuletide giving and If you're stumped for a unique gift idea this place is great alternative to that giftcard you were guiltily thinking of buying.

And oh, what a place full of delightful, alcoholic things! But first there's the amazing oils (I don't cook, but even I was impressed). I totes wanted the Mandarin Infused Extra Virgin Olive Oil to dress some of my Christmas Day salads with. Or perhaps even the Raspberry Caramelised Balsamic Vinegar to dip breads in? Then I realised that I was loitering right beside a huge bottle of chocolate Port. Yes, you read that right. It's Port and it's chocolate flavoured. You can even soak strawbs in it. Then there were the other amazing liquers, just ripe for adding into cocktails: watermelon, rose, mango, macadamia nut). I underestimated you, Liqurious. Respect.

I do prefer to support local shops when I can, but sometimes I need to grab something quickly on my way home and this serves that purpose. Upon walking inside, there is a multitude of liquor, beer, wine and mainstream alcohol to be bought. The thing that suprised me, and I don't even drink, I was looking for a present for a house warming... was the array of Whiskey this tiny little shop had. They also provide... maybe a first for Brisbane... a free liquor delivery service to Brisbane CBD and the general metro area... unheard of! They also cater liquor to functions for work and what have you. Staff are really lovely and knowledgeable, and the place has been open for many many years so it holds history... smells a bit of history too... but not in a bad way. The staff also informed me that should I not be able to come into the store, they also have an online champagne gallery which will have a brilliant selection of fine champagne... delivered free! The champagnes aren't that cheap mind you, so I have a feeling they may have incorporated the 'free delivery' price into the price of the alcohol, but either way. This place is where you need to visit. Right next to the bar too. I'll definetely be checking out their online site... i'd never heard of one before!

Many times I've caught the train directly after work to a friend's house for dinner or a party and have dropped by here to pick up supplies. The staff here are really helpful. At Grand Central Cellar, I simply tell the staff my price range and that I'm looking for a red that is sweet, not dry and tastes like blackcurrants. They get it right every time.

Dan Murphy's is definitely cheapest for alcohol (~$5 cheaper compared to BWS, Liquorland etc.) and there is sufficient parking so it is better to spend a couple of minutes extra to get out than use the BWS drive thru close by. When you walk in it is a bit overwhelming. So much wine, beer and spirits, its a dream place of alcos. I was after a cheap red wine. There is one a like in particular labelled Two Fat Ladies, that I wanted. I walked up and down the aisles searching for it. These aisles were long, so I gave up the search and decided to just asked a staff member where I could find that. He told me that don't stock that brand. I was in shock. I thought this liquor store, being so big and all, would stock it. Unfortunately for me, they don't. Of course, I could try other alternatives, but it wouldn't be the same. Boo. So although this is a liquor superstore, they don't stock everything. But there is a lot of everything else that I'm sure would work out just fine.

There's a nice little stock of different beers and ciders in the back right section of the store, and they generally have a special on a carton of cider. When in need of a nip pourer recently the guy came out from behind the counter to take me over to see them and discuss which would best suit my needs. I have not, however, had the same nice attitude from a female staff member in a previous visit. I was simply asking for some help with different beers and whether they have any mixed packs (for QLD beer week no less) and was met with a dismissive look of annoyance. This may have been an unfortunate case of women not being nice to other women. *sigh* Are sisters no longer doing it for themselves? This was a one off though, and maybe we caught her on a bad day.
