Avoid these folks at ALL COSTS! Tax prep for deceased…read morerelative turned into a several-month long battle, with the IRS returning the paperwork to us, stating there were multiple issues, errors, and ommisions. The preparer stated she had never done a return for the Dearly Departed, so she MAY have to look up some things. We paid a bill of $274.00 for these services. After receiving the return back, we called JH to have someone who DID KNOW how to do this meet us the following day, in order to get this corrected, and close out the deceased affairs. The preparer stated she would "Call the Boss" and call us back. Three & 1/2 days later- no call back. Already nervous at the sheer number of IRS mark-ups, I called a REAL Tax Preparer, and was informed what SHOULD have been done the first time. We completed the numerous missed and incorrect steps, and sent it back ourselves. I then filed a complaint with JH Corporate. After sending a copy of the IRS mark-ups, the Franchise Owner's rep called me back, and stated they did nothing wrong, that every deceased filer's return gets sent back for the missing forms. (Not even close to being true) So after paying for what was supposed to be professional Prep, we ended up doing it ourselves, paying a REAL Tax Preparer to navagate thru the errors and incompetence, and being told everything was OUR fault. I asked why no one ever called us back, in order to get this mess fixed in the first place? The smug reply was: "WEll, I guess I'll have to talk to her about that" If you value your time, sanity, and your hard-earned money, DO NOT go near these folks. If there's any issues, it will be YOUR FAULT! (Even when its not)

Even the response from the owner continues to outline unprofessionalism and a lack of accountability. How does one argue about letters from the IRS regarding errors in the filing of the tax preparation and continue to point fingers at the client? Always taking it personal and ignoring any business acumen.

We found a mistake and she did not fix it correctly. She made numerous promises to fix it and never followed through. She also lied to me about fixing my filing on several occasions.

IRS never received what was sent after waiting 16 weeks of the 14 I was briefly told it could take. IRS said they never received anything she claims she sent to them. Have to start all over after waiting 4 months (16 weeks) and checking the mail every day for that long only to come up empty handed. Now wondering where all of my information that was supposedly sent in the mail is (W-2, tax form w/ both my son's & my information on it). Highly do not*** recommend.
