Parking: There's parking on the streets and it's metered until 4:00. I think it's a dollar an hour. There's lots of free parking one street over next to the river. It's a good place to park cuz you could grab something here and go and eat it at the picnic tables along the River Bank boardwalk The building: You woke up a couple of wooden stairs and open the door and you're in a small waiting area. There's a heater with rotisserie chicken in it and a rack with the bread that they've made for the day that you can select. There's a freezer next to an order desk you can grab what you need from the freezer. And the treats and everything else you order at the counter and they make it fresh, with sandwiches, or put your dinners together. The goods: Everyday there's a daily soup and lunch special and a dinner special. Well except for Saturday there's no dinner on Saturday they close early then. You can look on Facebook and they post their weeks menu on Sundays but they also post daily. If you're walking by they have a chalkboard with the specials There's a fridge full of treats and salads. Treats like butter tarts, lemon meringue tarts, carrot cake, brownies, etc. And salads like macaroni salad potato salad pasta salad. My favorite is a pasta salad with broccoli and bacon. It is delicious Personally I like taco Tuesdays. Lunch is a taco special. A lot of times Wednesday dinner special is cabbage rolls and they are my absolute favorite. Fridays dinner is a really good dinner. It usually contains a combination of half chicken and ribs, sometimes both if you're lucky. And occasionally they'll have a special turkey with all the fixings dinner. That's a really good deal There's also a freezer with all the foods and soups that they make inside. So she makes stuff for the day but we'll make extra to put in the freezer that you can buy and take home with you. Oh my God I forgot the fresh bread. They make fresh bread every morning. There's also buns and hot dog buns, you can ask for something specific and if they can accommodate you they'll make it ooh they also have rotisserie chicken everyday. And you can call and order ahead because they post the weekly menu so you can reserve any dinner for lunch. They have a set number of dinners they make. It's pretty good I like coming here.

With the recent closing of Viking Fish & Chips (which wasn't all that…read moregreat to begin with), there haven't been a lot of places in Elliot Lake where you can get decent fish & chips. However, Hollywood gets it right. I've been there three times since it's opened, and every time I've gone it has been wonderful. The wait time is almost non-existent (Out of three visits, 10 minutes was the shortest, 19 minutes was the longest), and the food is amazing. The fish & chips, which is the main draw, are amazing, not oily or bland at all, the fries crisp and warm, not soggy or overly thick like at most places here. Their homemade burgers are also fantastic, and their poutines can't be beat (although the only downfall was that they use shredded cheese. I'm a curds man myself, but hey, to each his own). But the real cherry on top is the price. Hollywood is easily the cheapest place for food in Elliot Lake that isn't McDonald's or Subway. I can guarantee you won't find any other place in E.L. where the food is this good, for this kind of price. With it's cool, retro 50's style diner interior (complete with Presley photos and a guitar clock, nice touch!), and kind, up-beat staff, Hollywood Fish & Chips passes the tests with flying colours. During the day of the 7th my parents went over to the Hollywood fish and Chips restaurant to see the menu. They decided that we would be eating dinner there and let the staff know that they would be back with a group of people between 5:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. The place is open until 7p.m. We arrived with 12 (twelve) people at 5:45p.m. only to find the lights outs inside except for the kitchen area. The doors were locked and the hours posted said Saturdays close at 7p.m. We were utterly disgusted as they knew that we would be returning with a group of people. There was no notice anywhere indicating an early closure for that day. We were all planning on having the jumbo halibut @$17.95 and drinks each. How a business can turn down $300 in sales? Didn't seem like too busy of a place the day before I am sure they could have used our business. Any way, we visit Elliot Lake frequently with these legion events and would appreciate some kind of explanation in regards to this awful experience that we had.

The strawberry rhubarb pie to end the meal was packed, though just a bit too sweet. Overall service was friendly and efficient. The Codmothers has offers you just can't refuse. We walked in, smiling and saying hello, to buy some much-suggested bread as we had just dined at a local restaurant. There were two staff - one male, one female. They didn't bother to smile nor greet us, they didn't ask us if we needed any assistance - they just kept looking at us while we walked around the store. There was an air of cool blandness from them. Their blatant indifference only made us turn around and just walk out. Doubt we'll make any attempt at going back there again.

It's a convenience store so you're not really hanging out in the parking lot so there should be enough parking for everybody The goods: It's a convenience store so it has all the stuff for your convenience and snacking. There's also a bait fridge so if you're heading out fishing you could stop and grab something. And also there is a freezer with some frozen meats from the farm/meat place in Bruce wines. I have to say they have fantastic stewing beef so I'm glad they carry it here and I don't have to drive all the way to Bruce mine's. Oh there's also a really cute coffee station so you can stop and grab a coffee and maybe something for lunch on your way to work. Oh also if you follow them on Facebook you see every week they get new items. And people suggest things and they get it if they can. We were both very impressed with both the service as well as the food! The BLT had lots of crunchy lettuce, thick slices of back cut bacon, and fresh tomatoes. We also tried their butter tarts which were deliciously sweet with a crumbly buttery crust. I unfortunately left my cell phone here and the wonderful staff found it for me and kept it safe until I was able to return! All in all it was a excellent experience.
