We came on a Friday evening around 7 for dinner and it took awhile to be greeted as no one was at…read morethe front desk the hostess stand. The view and decorations inside really right high on the style scale. We saw a beautiful sunset, but we ate our dinner. We got cute mini ducks in our bar drinks and the orange crush and margarita came with extra flair. I also love the attention to detail with adding a crab on top of the crab dip with old bay. The crab dip was good and served with sliced Italian loaf bread. It was good, but in my opinion, not quite as good as another local restaurant that serves pita bread and chips with their crab dip. ( no name shall be mentioned but if you know, you know). I had the broiled seafood platter and it was ok. I would have enjoyed it more without the bearnaise sauce on top as I think it detracted from the seafood. I had a salad as one of my sides and it was very fresh. I had a loaded baked potato that was really delicious but it came out as I was finishing my seafood. Our table also had a few Krabby patties and they were a good size but could have used a bit more crab. The salmon salad was good and vegetables were fresh and crispy. My husband said his blackened chicken sandwich was overcooked which made it dry and chewy. Our waitress was very soft spoken so hard to her especially when the restaurant was pretty full for dinner on a Friday. Overall mixed reviews from our group of 5. It's a little out of the way for us but was a good halfway point from where the rest of our dinner party was coming from. My husband doesn't eat seafood so the options are limited to a chicken sandwich or a burger and he struck out with the sandwich so I'm not sure that we'll be heading back soon. Overall good value and might be best for happy hour, apps and enjoying the sunset on the James river.

I had been here several times over the years and always had great experiences, both with the…read moreservice and the food... and especially the water front location. Those memories were the reason I chose this restaurant for a first date, even making the drive from Richmond because I thought it would make a good impression. We arrived Wednesday, September 30, at approximately 12:30. The wait staff was very friendly, although they appeared to have limited availability. Unfortunately, the real disappointment was the food. My date and I both ordered blackened tuna steaks, rare. I ordered mine with a baked potato, and she ordered hers with coleslaw. Her tuna arrived so overcooked that it was essentially tasteless and burnt. Mine steak was served as six small pieces and was also considerably overcooked. The baked potato was so small it would literally fit in a coffee cup--essentially one bite. We politely brought our concerns to the staff, but there was no offer to replace the meals or make any adjustment to the bill. What made the situation particularly awkward was that my date is an international executive chef. Neither of us wanted to turn our first date into an extended discussion about sending food back and waiting for another meal. We simply made the best of it and enjoyed our conversation. Ironically, two things came out of the experience: we decided we would definitely continue getting to know each other, and we both agreed that, unfortunately, we probably wouldn't return to this restaurant. It's disappointing because my previous experiences here had been very good, which is exactly why I chose it for such an important occasion. Suggested to Karen sending a note to Gordon for a restaurant intervention as it's sad to see a good place in decline.

I Think I Found My New Seafood Spot!…read more Fuller's Raw Bar is an absolute hidden gem in Hampton. This was one of those meals where I kept thinking, "Okay, surely everything can't be this good." But apparently it can. I started with the seasonal watermelon margarita, and my only complaint is that I didn't order two. It was refreshing, flavorful, and the perfect way to start the meal. Next came the oyster flight. We went ahead and ordered a dozen, and they were another hit. Fresh, delicious, and definitely something I'd order again. My one tiny request: give me some Tabasco with my oysters instead of regular hot sauce and we are officially in business! For my entrée, I ordered the steamed seafood platter, and when I tell you I ate the ENTIRE platter...I mean there was nothing left to discuss. It came loaded with oysters, clams, mussels, shrimp, and crab legs, along with cocktail sauce and hot drawn butter. Everything was cooked beautifully, and that drawn butter made it straight-up finger-licking good. And then there were the catfish and grits. Listen. I don't know whose Big Momma is back there making those grits, but please tell her I said thank you. Creamy, flavorful, comforting--those are the kind of grits that make you stop talking for a minute because you need to concentrate on what just happened. I would order them every single time. The portions were generous, the prices felt very fair for the amount and quality of seafood we received, and overall the meal exceeded my expectations. Fuller's Raw Bar officially earned a spot on my Hampton rotation. Great seafood, generous portions, fair prices, and Big Momma-level grits? Say less. I think I just found my new go-to seafood spot.

Our server was prompt and pleasant and she looked like Jesse from Toy Story. Now for the food, we ordered the smashburger with an xtra patty and bacon crumbles. It was juicy and delicious! The shoestring fries were great! My bro ordered the fish sandwich! It was huge! I typically don't like seafood, but he encouraged me to try it and it was surprisingly tasty! Didn't taste fishy, but was flaky and tender! Food check!! Yummy! I like the paper towels on the table, good call! We thoroughly enjoyed stopping here for a meal and we left "full" at Fullers!! We definitely want to come back!
