I'm a tour operator and have taken my charter bus groups to Jamesport, MO for many many years now…read morefor tours of the only Amish Colony in MO that allows tours. I've have Jim of "Step Back In Time Tours" for all but one of my tours trying to save a little bit of money. That was the biggest mistake I ever made! My people were not at all happy and neither was I. It was a BIG mistake that I'll never make again. Jim is so knowledgeable of the Old Order Amish that his 2 1/2 hour tour just flies by before I know it. Every time I go he gives some additional information that wasn't on the tour before so he keeps his tour fresh and very entertaining. It's so easy to tell that Mr. loves his job and loves living among the Amish people. Jim is a great speaker with a great voice for his job and is very professional at it. Whatever you do don't make the same mistake that I did one time and book your Jamesport Amish Colony Tour with someone else. It's just NOT worth it!

From the owner: Guided tours of the Largest Old Order Amish Colony west of the MS river surrounding Jamesport, MO…read more Jamesport was not only the first Old Order Amish Colony to settle in MO but is the also the Largest and ONLY Colony that permits tours of it's Colony by Jim Smith of Step Back In Time Tours. Tour guide joins your group for a 2 1/2 hr. tour of an Amish home, stables, farm and shopping at the Amish Country stores which are all nestled away in the Amish countryside. Jim Smith, tour guide since 1985 joins your charter bus group, church, school, club, or family and rides along with you. You'll see an Amish 1 room school, Amish saw mill, deer farms, Amish Cemetery, visit an Amish Bakery and more. Jim was born in Jamesport before the Amish settled here so he went to school with and grew up with the Amish. He shares his lifetime of knowledge from living among the Amish with personal stories, customs, facts from fiction, and information not found in books in an entertaining and enlightening way.
