This local services between Burton and Derby has a good range of facilities with easy access just off the A38. The Shell petrol station has a good sized forecourt, plenty of petrol pumps and ample spaces between them, so there's rarely ever any queuing, a definite plus. They sell both unleaded and diesel fuel, regular and premium, and there is a car wash, and a place to vacuum your car or put air in the tyres (50p for five minutes). It also has a free withdrawal car machine too, which is handy. The petrol station shop is sizeable, offering a multitude of essentials like screen wash, map books, oil etc, as well as a comprehensive range of other items like chocolate, snacks, sandwiches, drinks, takeaway coffees, CDs, to name but a few. To the rear of the petrol station is a large car park that serves the nearby budget hotel, and the eating establishments housed behind the petrol station shop. There were three, a KFC, with a drive through, a La Petit Four Francis and another takeaway coffee shop that has since closed, and is fenced off with red and white tape, the price of competition for too few customers, I suspect. La Petit Four is normally our choice, pretty decent coffee, and the pastries are fresh and tasty. The Maple Pecan Plait is delicious. Free WiFi too, and clean toilets, what more can you ask for? read more
