Super king burrito, bacon taco, lengua taco

Bigger than it looks from the outside. Kind of fast casual Mexican - you grab your own food from the counter when it's ready. Good variety on the menu. We picked it up to go and even after a half hour in the car, it was delicious! I got the bacon taco and it had a lot of bacon, basically a BLT in a tortilla. The lengua was really tender and crisped up. The salsa was pretty good too. Hubby got the super long burrito - it was huge!!! The steak was well seasoned and cooked. We'd definitely come here again!

Good place to eat. Very testy food they have with good service. I highly recommend this place!

Our favorite Mexican joint in the area! Food is delicious and fresh! You cannot go wrong with any of the items on the menu. Our favorite items are the pork belly & carne asada tacos, tampiquena, quesadillas, horchata, and the huevos a la mexicana.

Based on the Yelp reviews, I was really excited to go to this restaurant with all the positive comments and overall high reviews. It's true that the menu does provide a fairly good selection of different items, the restaurant is clean and nice looking for a fast casual restaurant, and the food presentation is pretty attractive. However, the food portions and quality aren't great for the price, there really isn't any service (despite paying tips), the dining room is a bit cramped and has less than ideal seating, and the food is fairly bland. On my visit here, I tried beef tacos, chicken flautas, carne asada, and a chicken torta. The meat on the tacos, flautas, and torta were juicy but a bit bland. The tacos had a good amount of cheese to them and freshly diced tomatoes, but nothing was memorable about them at all. The torta was basically the same flavor combination with large pieces of sandwich bread, but equally bland. The flautas were very crispy, similar to egg rolls -- but the filling inside had very little flavor. The carne asada was charred nicely, but a bit overcooked and surprisingly bland as well for how charred it looked. Overall, the food here is fresh and prepared nicely, but is a bit light on flavor and a bit pricey compared to other Mexican options.

It's an easy place to drive past if you're not from the area, but highly recommend. Burrito Express may not sound like much, but they make some of the best mexican food in the area. It's been recently remodeled on the inside, and has a fresh look to it, so enjoy your meal inside or on their patio in the summer. There are MANY options to chose from on their menu, but my favorite is their torta de milanesa. They always make it fresh in house, and have just the right amount of ingredients. You can also never go wrong with some tacos with your choice of meat. My husband loves to eat their king burrito with carne asada- this thing is massive, and loaded. Don't forget a fresh horchata with your meal! Highly recommend if you're in the area and craving good Mexican food!

I really liked the pork belly taco, nice big slice with a sweet sauce. They flavors we surprising and enjoyable.

    Any taco Tuesday specials?

Not that i know of. Honestly I found the steak burrito to be lacking in the seasoning department. Taco/burrito express in mundelein is better. Imho.

When I placed my order, the server said "good choice" and she was right. They were served with rice, beans and lettuce and really hit the spot. My friend ordered tacos and also commented that the food was really good. By the time we left, only one other party had arrived. Considering how slow business was, we noted that the service was pretty slow. Our server was attentive when we arrived, but once the food came and we ate, it took an awhile for her to bring the check and then awhile longer for her to process our payment. The place has a lot of visual interest from the moment you walk in, with scenic landscapes and photos of people covering all the walls. That made the ambiance fun in what is otherwise a pretty casual place. Overall, this was a good experience and I'd like to return. I hope others try it, too! They need a better lunch crowd if we want them to stick around!

The restaurant is pretty small, but they packed a lot of seating into this old Subway. The booths can easily fit a group of 6, while the tables can be pushed together to seat more. There are also 3 tables outside as well. Plenty of vegetarian options, which is a huge bonus, and they have Beyond beef for those that enjoy mock meats. I had dinner here with two of my friends, and we all enjoyed our meals! We shared these yummy little horchata balls, and I had a vegetarian burrito (solid size!). I also had two, don't judge haha, classic margaritas. I wouldn't typically order a classic margarita, as I don't do overly sweet or syrupy drinks, but these were really light and yummy!! The Ay Cabron! hot sauce was SO good with my burrito, and had a nice tingle while still providing flavor. My bill came out to $36 for the three things I ordered, which is pretty decent considering how expensive dining out can be. Can't wait to dine in again to try the Chile Relleno! YUMMY!

There is lots of seating as well. The main downside to my experience was the food. I ordered the quesa-birria tacos which were actually great as an appetizer, but my main dish was just sad. I ordered the enchilada combo, one chicken and one beef. The tortillas were stiff, and there was barely any salsa on them. The chicken enchilada was covered with an overwhelming amount of lime, the rice was flavorless and the beans were watery. I hesitate to call this place clean because my water cup had crusted gunk on it, which makes me believe they don't wash their dishes too well.

The guacamole tasted incredibly fresh, and the chips had just the right amount of crunch.
