Burrito Bandito is an Americanized fast-casual "Mexican" joint. The food is not authentic, but starts with basic ingredients that are far better than you'd get at any fast food place and better than many authentic restaurants use. The ambience is typical for places like this. The excellent service and friendly staff are not. Employees are generally great here. The letdown for me is the amount of salt. The rice, beans, and proteins are all overseasoned, often making the food inedible to me. Don't get me wrong--I like salt as much as the next person. But the recipes need to be refined or the staff handling prep need to be retrained or given proper tools to accurately measure salt. If it weren't for this single issue, I'd probably stop here regularly. read more

We hadn't been to Burrito Bandito in several months so decided to stop by for a late lunch. The team was enthusiastic during our order placement and prep. The Machaca burrito tasted better than I remember and I believe the preparation was the reason. The young lady seemed to use just the right portion amounts which led to complete satisfaction. Oh my gosh. So we used to live 2 miles up the road, and Burrito Bandito was the gold standard for Mexican food. Now granted, that was in 2010, but it's been around for so long, how could it have changed? Sadly, it has changed all right, and for the worst. The Carne Asada was flavorless and tasted like old overcooked meat. The burrito bowl was bland, and it takes a special ineptitude to make Mexican taste bland. The blonde young man who made the burrito bowl and the tacos seemed to make them right, but honestly, we've had refried beans from cans that tasted better. The cheese didn't even taste very cheesy, what little cheese there was. It tasted like that pre-grated stuff coated in some kind of a powder to keep it from going bad at the grocery store. There's a location over near my sister, on the other side of I-5 near Churn Creek, that I am willing to try one more time, just in case this one location has gone bad. The service itself was OK if perfunctory, and the seating area was clean and comfortable, although it felt more like a chain than the old location further down on the other side of CVS. That one always had a great vibe. And nobody smiled in here. Not one person smiled, or seemed genuinely interested in or enthusiastic about what they were doing. If I had to use just one word to describe the food, atmosphere, and experience, it would all be "Bland." Two thumbs down, one star for how the food looked (NOT tasted), and this is only because I can't give zero stars. Do not recommend. read more

Went to this establishment for lunch today, and got a couple of burritos. 10 years ago this was one of our favorite places to go. My husband did enjoy his steak burrito; but that it didn't taste exactly like he remembered it. And while my chicken burrito was good, it didn't taste as good as I remembered it as well. But it had been 10 years, so perhaps our taste buds have changed, or they changed their recipes just slightly. The colors of their chairs and dining area is still just as colorful and nice. And while their women's bathroom was decorated nicely, I'm just not sure how long it had been since they had cleaned their toilet, as the inside of the bowl was a light brown until it met the water in the toilet. So while it wasn't the best experience for my pregnant stomach, the people were very pleasant and very helpful, and it's hard to find that in every restaurant. read more

Been going here since they took over after Blockbuster shut down, and through all these years, I've never had a bad experience. I see some negative reviews talking about how they didn't put enough stuff in, but they make it right in front of you, so just ask them for a little bit more or less depending on what it is! My sister and a friend of mine worked for the company and said that they treat their employees like family, so I can very much appreciate that. All around great service and great food from a great company. 10/10 read more

I'm going to give this spot the full five stars. I was looking for a breakfast burrito, and ended up getting a breakfast, lunch and dinner burrito. Ok, so technically it wasn't a breakfast burrito ( no egg ), but that didn't stop me from eating part of it as my breakfast. I got the veggie burrito, and asked for both kinds of beans and all the fixings, and the end result was HUGE. After eating less than half of it for breakfast, I saved the rest of it and ended up eating part of it as my lunch and my dinner today. And it wasn't just huge, it was also tasty! It's not bad, it's the same concept as Chipotle. I was bummed that the veggie bowl didn't cos it's of any additional veggies except for the ones you'd normally get in a regular meet bowl, beans were a little bit salty but once you mixed it all up with the sour cream and rice it wasn't bad. I'm passing thru Redding and have stopped at the Burrito Bandito location in Red Bluff previously, so I thought I'd give this Redding location a try. This name "Burrito Bandito" might not be the most politically correct, you know Frito's had to drop the Frito Bandito due to stereotypes, but hey this is Redding not SF! I was taken aback a bit when I walked up to place my order and it was a "white" guy, asking me what I wanted! In Sac or the Bay Area, burrito joints I go to, English is the second language there. I guess this caters to the Americanized Mexican food, like Chipotle or Qdoba. It sort of look like that inside, you just order and they guy or guys assemble you burrito assembly line fashion. The prices are sort of high from what I'm used to. $8.99 for a steak burrito. Granted it's pretty big and I saved half for later. I just wish they'd put more meat in there. You do get avocado at no extra charge though. But my main gripe, is the food temp. The burrito is not really hot when you get it. The ingredients that are supposed to be hot are not that hot, I just hope they pass the health code min temps! It's just a luke warm burrito! I go to real Mexican places, and that sucker's hot! Qudoba and Chipotle are the same way ... I dunno what's wrong with these places. The food here lacks that "real" Mexican taste, but if you never had that, then you'd never know. I'll have to say Burrito Bandito is probably safer then going to a "real" Mexican burrito joint. No communication probs and you car will be in one piece when you return. read more

Didn't mind the fact that the price of their taco went up. The taco quality however has lost something. I stopped and order a chili verde taco and got a mushy mess with no pork just a few crumbles of what ever was in the slotted spoon. The server did have a couple of chunks of pork in the spoon which he shook out and put the table spoon of product left in it in the taco. The sour cream was so diluted it made the tortilla fall apart. Couldn't even pick it up to eat it. I know they can do better because I have had better. read more

But the past couple of times we've been to this location (on Placer St.), our food has been extremely salty...to the point where it wasn't enjoyable at all. Never call in an order here. They will never get it right. We have called in orders here a couple of times and they always screw it up. They must-label the items and when you get home or back to work the wrong items are in the incorrect packaging. You would think that if you are gonna to spend $10 on a burrito you would get something right? You are better off going down the street to another place or even Chipotle. At least there you are gonna save a couple or few bucks and I have never had a problem with them mislabeling your items. You would think that if you call in an order and you have two different burritos. Both with the same meat. You would either have the type of meat and maybe what type of beans. But nope not this place. One will say carne asada and the other one says 3. We had 4 different items. So maybe the one that said 3 was the third item that was ordered? Nope. Burrito Bandito is more than a restaurant... it's a way of life. The food here is truly what the soul craves. The staff here knows their trade, and they roll the finest burritos money can buy. The prices are incredibly reasonable, given the portion sizes - which are ambitious. And they don't charge extra for avocado, like certain other places, and have also never given anyone E. Coli. I have an addiction problem. I'm a BurritoBanditoholic. Seriously at least once a week if not more. It's not the food which I really like despite other reviews here. There's more than just a fast burrito they serve up. Burrito Bandito serves up love in a tortilla... flour or corn, refried or black bean. They hire great kids to work here and train them to be top notch in customer service. Last night I chatted with one of the food dudes about one of my other addictions - Skyrim. Even though I was distracting him he remembered to ask my daughter if he could draw a happy face on her burrito (on the foil wrapper that is.) She gets sooooo excited when they draw the happy face on her burrito and her girlfriends (all high schoolers) all chat about the Burrito Bandito folks and the happy faces. Very Mediocre food for the most part with a premium price tag. I go there rarely when we are trying to just grab food quickly. I've always put up with the over priced food because they always at least gave me a large portion.... I sent my wife to pick up food this evening and she came back with tiny burritos. I asked her why our fully loaded 10 dollar burritos were so small and she said she was not sure but the two men that ordered in front of her had burritos so big they could barely roll them shut. This place used to be so good! I came here on a Sunday with my brother and mom while I was visiting Redding and I was a bit disappointed. I ordered a veggie burrito that just tasted bland and had no flavor. The majority of my burrito was tasteless rice and bean juice, since they were nearly out of black beans when they were making mine. I would come here again because the workers are friendly enough and I like to support a small (well no, pretty big for Redding ) business so I hope that next time it will be back to the old tasty burrito bandito I'm used to. read more

Not authentic ... no horchata or adobada. They have Jarritos soda, but not tamarind. There was very little meat on our carne asada tacos and a lot of thick, white shredded cabbage (mostly from the core of the cabbage not the thin leafy part). ** We've since been back many times. Their burritos are great - huge and fresh. When craving burritos, this is THE place to go in Redding. I love burrito bandito but the part that I have noticed is that there should be at least be two registers and what I have sort of noticed is that to me it seems like they sometimes treat their new employees like dogs by making them do so much activity at the same time and they seem to have a hard to keep up because that's like really hard to keep track by doing like 4-6 activities all at once. I believe they should at least start them off slowly and not let them do so much work all at once and train them the proper way because everyone is different by having their own methods and no one is perfect. So in conclusion, I'll give burrito bandito a 5 star but for the main employees that been there the longest, I'll give them a 1 star by how they treat some of the new be's like dogs. read more

This local restaruant is well known for their burritos and fresh ingredients, their workers wear gloves while preparing your good. I actually like their tacos (which I believe are only soft shell) and man....... I can eat a whole bag and big container of the chips and salsa any day.
