Shadow Mountain General Store & RV Park - Campsites are extreme close together. The epitome of "awning camping."

Loves the general store where you check in. N they have a small selection of souvenirs and almost everything you may need for your trip. That includes fresh coffee in the morning. The bathrooms are very clean. They have 2 toilets and. 2 showers the door is also coded which made me feel a bit more safer. We camped a tent space J which is a walk up camp site. You will not be far away from your car. Our campsite was located near an empty field which was great for star gazing. Love this place and will return

It's very rare that I feel compelled to take an RV park to task but, Shadow Mountain RV Park has…read moreearned my disdain. Under no circumstances should you bring a trailer or coach longer than 30 feet into this park. I can't recommend this RV park for several reasons: 1 The campsites are not even close to level, particularly on the newer upper section. I had to put multiple wooden blocks under my tongue jack to raise the front of my trailer 44 inches to get it level. All the sites were uneven and nowhere close to level front-to-back or side-to side; there were large holes and depressions, as well as unexplained humps, in many of the sites. The sewer hose runs uphill from my trailer to the sewer pipe; this should never be the case. The campsites are mostly dirt, not gravel. The campsites are very close together; if you extend your awning, you will likely hit your neighbor's rig; the very epitome of "awning camping.". 2 The park appears to cater mostly to seasonal and permanent tenants, many of whom have multiple vehicles that protrude into the roadway. The roads are narrow and the turns are tight. You are forced into the trees to avoid the cars. There is very little room to park your tow vehicle or toad near your campsite without blocking someone else in or making making maneuvering of another rig overly difficult or impossible. Tree limbs overhang and protrude into the roads, guaranteeing your rig is going to be scratched coming in and going out. 2A There is a total fire-ban in effect throughout the Clallam County effective July 7 but, the park is apparently ignoring the ban and selling wood and allowing campfires, putting everyone at risk. 3 The park uses Campspot.com to handle reservations. The park doesn't honor the campsite lock-in feature, telling you when you arrive that they have put you in a different campsite. 4 Cellular service is very weak and spotty throughout the park. A cellular booster (e.g., WeBoost) helps. The park has a wifi system installed but, the system only covers a small fraction of the park and was unavailable to us at our campsite. 5 The park advertises to be big-rig friendly; it is not. Roads are narrow and uneven, turns are very tight, cars protrude into the narrow roads, the roads have dips-almost guaranteeing bottoming out, and low tree limbs encroach on the drivable roads. In the newer upper section where the park puts the larger rigs, maneuvering is extremely difficult because of the confined space. 6 The laundry washers and dryers are filthy; it doesn't appear the machines have ever been cleaned. The dryer vent screens were matted with what appeared to thick black pet hair. Clearly, the park allows campers to wash their pet bedding in the community laundry machines, which is complete unsanitary and disgusting. 7 The owner, Jeremy, is very difficult to get ahold of and evasive when you finally connect with him. He blames all the difficulties that his poorly designed and maintained park causes campers and their rigs on the ineptitude of the camper/customer. Jeremy's poor work-campers take most of the heat from upset customers.

This would be our first time…read moreseeing the Tree of Life, and Google Maps had us taking some small roads through tons of forest and a few tiny towns. Usually after a few hours of driving, someone is going to need to take restroom break, right? Well, little did we know, after getting off the main highway, that didn't seem to be possible. "Public restrooms" were closed. There was one small gas station with a huge truck and port-a-potty that my husband used but confirmed would not be hygienic enough for me. You don't know how long we suffered, contemplating pulling over and running through the trees to take of care of business. Although it took us forever to find, Queets Trading Post was the only place with an actual restroom on Google Maps that we could find. As we arrived, the worker greeted us. The store was clean, stocked, had breakfast items- but most importantly, there it was, shining in all its glory: the word "Restrooms"!!! It was clean, it had a message on the wall stating something like, "We keep our restrooms public as a service, so please treat the restroom with respect and keep it clean," and oh did I do just that! I respected that restroom more than any I had in years. Ok well it felt like years. After the beautiful relief, we filled up on gas and went on our merry way. Thank you, Queets Trading Post. You helped us out more than you'll ever know.

Had everything we needed for a quick stop. Clean restroom. Customer service pretty good.read more
