Kept trying to hang up on me (aka put me on hold) - fool me once! I only wanted to know where to park & amenities. She said parking off Kingsway. Ok, Kingsway & ??? I asked like 10X. She couldn't answer. Completely incompetent staff cannot even guide off-duty ppl where to park.

However, I do understand where they're coming from. It's their job to make a sale. I don't blame them for being pushy. As for the cleanliness, I could only speak for the areas I see. The women's washrooms are definitely clean. The gym floor is also tidy, and the equipment is grouped nicely and well maintained. I did get the 6-month personal training. I did this to make sure I'm doing the correct excise for the right muscles. I'm not gym savvy, so I need help in this area. My PT's name is Elaine. She's wonderful. She does not only teach you the form, she tells who which muscle groups should be engaged and why it is important to work those muscles out. I am very much pleased with my training as I learn a lot. I am making the most out of it. As for my gym membership, I've only managed to take advantage of bodyjam class. This is a dance class and is so much fun. I like Maureen and Glen. I think they're both cool. I have yet to take the yoga class and RPM class (spin class). I'm pretty sure I will enjoy them too. One thing that needs improvement is the reception desk. I think some people at the reception are lazy. When I tried to leave a message for my PT, I was told that it's no guarantee that the message would reach my PT. WTH! Is it so hard to walk over the gym floor, look for the PT, and give the message?! I will not leave a message if it's not important. Duh!? Overall I would still recommend this gym. Oh and did I mention it's open 24 hrs?!!!

I just want to warn others about my experience with Fitness World (Canada) because I wish someone…read morehad told me this earlier. I recently cancelled my membership, and even though I did it properly, they told me there's a mandatory 30-day notice period, which means you still have to pay for another month after you cancel -- even if you don't use the gym at all. Then, to make things worse, they charged me $62 for an annual fee after my cancellation. When I asked about it, they said it's "in the policy." Honestly, it feels like they design these rules just to squeeze extra money out of people on their way out. It doesn't stop there -- if you downgrade your plan, they charge you another $30 fee just to do that. Again, technically it might be "policy," but it's terrible customer treatment. And for what? The gym is overcrowded most of the time, and during busy hours it's almost impossible to find an empty treadmill or machine. That was the main reason I wanted to leave in the first place. So between the hidden fees, the lack of transparency, and the overcrowding, I'd say Fitness World is one of the worst value gyms I've ever joined. I strongly suggest checking out literally any other gym before signing up here.

My favourite aspects of this gym are the 4 squat racks and deadlift area which are still not too common. At my previous gym, I always found myself waiting for the one squat rack. Here, there isn't much of a wait. People seem friendly and put away their weights, there is free parking, membership is on par with chain-gyms, and there's a pool too. Also, the people coming here seem to be on a time-crunch and don't stall or look at their phones as much. They seem to know what they are doing so sharing equipment is much easier. For those used to the nicer-looking chain-gyms, the weights don't go up increments of 2.5lb if you're used to that. People who are not used to only using free-weights and want to use machines may find that F2K doesn't offer enough variety of gym machines, nor are they very new. The TVs are also limited, not sure if that's a pro or con to some people. Overall, this is a good gym. I hope not too many people come here and ovecrowd it. Also, sometimes they blast Adele on the speakers. I think good-taste is important in a gym, don't you?

I stated that I was interested in getting a membership but wanted to try out the gym first so inquired about drop in fee. I was advised they would charge me $20.00, though I could get in free if I go with my husband or tenant, I just wanted to work out earlier and didn't want to wait for either. I asked them what the monthly membership fee was, they replied, it's $15.00 a month to utilize 1 location. I then said, I know two people who already have memberships already who live in the same household, I just want to try out the gym as I was thinking about purchasing my own membership however, you still want to charge me $20? teply "yes" I understand they need to charge a drop in fee, I think I would treat every situation a bit different depending on circumstance. If I cannot prove Vy on my drivers license, that two other members of the gym lived in my household, I can understand that reply since there are people who will lie about things like that. It really makes me sad because I wanted to train there and have the option to work out with my husband or my tenant if I wanted to, however that experience made me not want to go to the gym ever

I was pregnant, and as it was a risky pregnancy, I asked to freeze my membership. The staff member on the phone was very helpful and informed me that they would call me BEFORE I would be charged, close to the end of the period of freeze. They didn't call me and I WAS CHARGED even though I was unable to practice any physical activity. I didn't receive any refund, even I saying that I could send them the doctor's note. 2. Then, with a newborn at home, I requested the freeze again in a different period, and 2 days later, I WAS CHARGED. This is unacceptable. It is no the customer problem how is the financial dynamic of the company. We didn't receive the refund! Finally, we requested to cancel the membership and also because we moved to Calgary. The staff member said that they need 30 days notice - what wasn't informed to us when we signed up. We said that we wanted to cancel right away and we also requested our refund for what we were charged on the 2nd time. The lady said that she would cancel it but the refund could not be made. At the end of the day, we basically paid the 30 days notice with the money that we should receive as a refund (for the 2nd inappropriate charge). We feel extremely harmed by this company, we feel that we were charged inappropriately. This is a company that cannot be trusted and that does not treat its customers honestly. If you want to avoid headaches, avoid GoodLife Fitness.
