They really pack a lot into the day's events. They close down the entire Main Street and set up food and craft vendors everywhere. Ice sculptures are everywhere, including live ice carving. They also have a lot of special events like dog sledding demonstrations, colonial cooking demonstrations, a wandering band of gentlemen and gentle ladies singing old timey colonial songs, and rides in Mt. Holly's fire trucks for the kids. Parking can be tricky, especially if you're not familiar with the area. We always get there early right when the festival opens and there is plenty of street parking outside of the old prison on High Street. This is a really fun event as a great way to embrace the cold of January and enjoy time outside supporting local establishments.

Not to mention the ice sculptures that are created there. The sculptures were a lil 1D, a few were more in the 2D but it was a bit warmer that carving the ice looked really wet. Good to see the local bizs having lots of traffic in their stores. I got to go to a few stores that I normally don't frequent but have wanted to check out (Olive Oil bar, Sweet Spot, Crystal place). For a cool $3, you could sample & help judge the winners in the Chili cook off. There were sledding dogs, a petting zoo, aerial acrobatics, historical figure reenactments, & various different food trucks on hand. Weather was nice (...as it could be in Jan) & cooperated, not super cold but temps did drop as it got later in the afternoon. We had a chance to sit outside and enjoy our funnel cake (thank you, Boy Scouts!). Lots of foot traffic up & down High Street/Mill Street. Good vibe overall. Overall, we had a great time @ the festival. They extended it a lil further down past the MIll Race shops and on the side streets as well. Good amount of people who came out this year. Parking stinks & you have to circle round a few times if you wait later to go, like what we did. Luckily, parking is free in Mount Holly. Great event for families & even just your friends. But local is the way to go. I look forward to going again next year & enjoying even more vendors!

Every weekend, Sat. and Sun., and now some sneak attacks during the week--we are subjected to 10 hrs a day of loud music in excess of the local noise ordinance by 100% and attendees taking all the parking spots! Forget trying to sell our homes, as who would want to live here?! This is not the appropriate location for this kind of thing! And since it is operated by the township, they break their own laws and make no apologies or concessions to the residents. It's a "good ol' boys" frat house without the walls. It's a stupid, irresponsible waste of taxpayers' money at our OWN expense. They need to cut the music and charge for parking. I have no idea how they call it a "success" when they rent the tents, equipment, stage, use township employees to maintain it and don't charge a cover charge or a parking fee. The only income to the township is some stipend from the $6 beers. This can't go away soon enough.

The Westmont Farmers Market at the Square, The stores, restaurants and the Square events keep families walking around town. Benefits and fundraisers for local sports etc. Theme nights like Octoberfest and Severinos Pasta Night Dinner are always a big hit. Beer lines and bathroom lines can get a bit long but it's a popular venue. Mixed age crowd, some bands better than others. Music isn't spectacular /loud but doesn't ruin the night. Many people we meet have heard of Haddon Square and talk about the events. Worth a stop.

Purchasing was painless and the entire process was well-organized! - Good signage throughout the festival. - Beer Garden: St. Benjamins, Lunacy, Tuckahoe, Spellbound, Victory & Tonewood, $5.00 a beer. - Wine tastings: Amalthea, Sharrott, Dimatteo, Southwind and Summit City wineries. - Food trucks: Oink-n-Moo BBQ, Charlie's Crepes, Not your Mama's Tacos etc. - Music: live bands throughout different sections of the festival. They had a few tables/chairs set-up to allow you to sit down while eating. Otherwise, you had to cop-a-squat on the street curbs. Some people were lucky and commandeered Gazebo seating. Perhaps they could set-up more seating next time? We had a great time and I am looking forward to next years event. Hoping to see more beer and food-truck offerings.

Such is the humble beginnings of Allentown New Jersey, halfway between New York & Philadelphia. This was all before Snookie & MTV trashed all things Jersey and created late night TV fodder for all those talking heads, despite the fact that those Jersey Shore invaders were not Jerzee natives. A great time both nights! The show which features 50,000 synchronized lights dancing to around the fountains and the entire park to holiday music by Philly POPs kicks on at 4:30pm daily. The alternating shows runs every half hour until 11pm! The festival is FREE! The playground is opened throughout the entire festival also. What I love is that despite the festival being located in what is generally a destination for the kiddos, it's really for everyone! The addition of the fire pits and libations which include seasonal ales, spiked cider and hot chocolate, it's a nice place for adults with or without kiddos in tow to cozy up also! The outdoor food hut which remains at the park year round serves up hot dogs, veggie burgers, soups, latkes and their famous Tastykake milkshakes. Inside the warm tents this year you will also find sweet treats including gingerbread, freshly made to order fried dough with a toppings station, and kid friendly 's'mores kits and burners.
