They stole my sons car while he was TDY for the United States Air Force, the car is in the process of being repaired so it can be registered, it is parked at our own condo and they towed it which is in violation of the Servicemen civil relief act, they are extorting him over $80 per day while he was serving our country, they should be ashamed of there selves and we are looking into all legal avenues to hold them responsible!!!! read more

I called, told them I needed a tow and they said the driver would call back in 15 minutes. 30 minutes later, I call them back and they say someone will call me back in 10 minutes. While I was waiting, I started calling other places. Eventually (about 90 minutes after the initial call), the driver calls me, gets my address and heads right over. My car wouldn't shift out of park, so the first driver called dispatch and got the wrecker out, which took care of the job quite quickly. $60 for a ~6 block tow is a little steep, especially considering the wait, but once I started dealing with drivers and not the dispatch, things went along pretty smoothly. read more

My dad was stranded in Hampton after he lost all power to his vehicle at 9:45 pm. We called the closest towing company with decent reviews which happened to be Burke's. The other companies had horrible reviews. So he explained his son would be there shortly to help tow the car to our mechanics shop in Newport News. It took about 1hr 15mins which seemed long, but he explained he came all the way from Norfolk...which we then definitely appreciated. He had a great attitude and was professional all the way through. It was late so we understood the time issue especially coming from across the water just to take us 12 miles up the road. read more

Today was CRAZY!! Burke I believe that is his name, is the RUDEST INDIVIDUAL EVER. He was rude to my husband and yes my husband was very rude back. So my husband asked me to call back because I am more level-headed and calm. Which I 100% was with Burke. When I called him, the fact that my husband didn't get his name. I asked "To whom am I speaking with?" Which didn't make him any nicer. I mean, I get it normally when customers ask that they are looking for something to complain on. I sure was. I was looking for your NAME! I gotcha. :) As calm as I was, he was extremely disgusting. Once he figured out that the guy that was rude to him and he was rude to as well was my husband, he was like "OH GOD, HERE WE GO!" I said "Here we go what, sir?" I asked him to explain why we were getting an extra $50.00 charge and he wouldn't slooooow down, he speed talks, hella fast and you can barely hear him and when you ask if he can repeat that because you cannot understand him; he becomes defensive. I will not agree to understand things I cannot literally UNDERSTAND. $50.00 is nothing, whatever fine, even though the night before we paid you $284 to tow my car to the dealership and when we left you said we were good. FINE. I don't care, that you probably are going to pocket that $50.00. I NEED MY CAR TO BE MOVED ELSEWHERE. He said I am not towing my car. (EXCUSE MEEEEEEEEEEEE?) At this point, he threaten to hang up on me to which I said "if you do I will repeatedly call until you answer." Burke, take Business 101 classes, don't speak to a customer this way. If you were like I fucked up on the total, you still owe $100, but I'll make it $50 since I messed up. (use this trick it more than likely works) My GOD, it's very easy to make anyone happy nowadays. So he hung up on me. WHAT DO YOU THINK I DID??? I called back to back because I am telling you I am very calm, people treating me this way makes me laugh because at the end of the day you NEED God. You need saving, not me. He finally answered and I said "Burke!!? Do you remember me?? you hung up on me about 30 minutes ago. He replied "I speak with a lot people" I said "you hang up on everyone you speak to??" He mentioned he had a cop next to me and that he wanted me to admit to saying I was going to harass him. I said "Burke, you know I didn't say that. You threaten to hang up on me, so I said if you do I will call back to back because I am very calm, not yelling at you, simply asking for an explanation of the additional $50.00" No one here seems nice here. Period. Sadly, my car was towed here by the police/fire department at my car accident, not by me personally. Something is truly wrong with Burke. He kept saying he was BUSY, then honestly don't answer the damn phone. Let it ring, the person will leave a message if it's really important or they''ll stop by when they can or have manners. Learn how to do business. All I have to say is THIS ISN'T THE END. It is 2017, I will leave the worse reviews on everything I can find regarding Burke's Towing. I feel horrible being this way to a guy that is working for himself, but if you CANNOT literally run the business with integrity, then close your business. Towing companies are a joke! They steal off of people because they know these people NEED their car back and will probably do anything to get their car back. I'd say never ever use this place for anythiiiiing, not towing, not even to walk your own dog. By the way, John, one of his workers, is JUST as incompetent. Another update, we charged $150 for clean up of the accident. There was NOTHING to clean, at all. My car didnt break into a million pieces, no windows were shattered. So I needed my car towed that was auto and rwd, but wouldn't shift out of park.  Called Burke's towing and the owner said to call "Mario" who has the truck with the dolly on it.  I call Mario at 8:05pm and he says that he will be there in 35-40 mins. After 2 hours,  i call Mario back and he tells me he's still on his way.  He shows up at around 10:45pm and proceeds to hook up the rear of the car.  When he only straps one tire down i ask him about the other strap ..... to which he replies "i don't really need it." He finishes strapping the ONE wheel down,  and states that I can ride with him if i don't have another ride,  but that his son is in there.  (Apparently this is Burkes Towing and childcare)  We leave from the location and Mario starts hauling ALL ASS through residential streets and on the interstate.  Meanwhile my car looks like it's in a hydraulics contest trailing behind the truck.  I couldn't care less that the tow truck driver didn't wear a seat belt,  but his 6/7 year old son who was sitting on the FRONT SEAT BETWEEN US definitely should've.  We somehow make it to my home safely and realize the car doors locked with the key inside, with the key in the ON position and hazards flashing.  Instead of just opening the door,  Mario told me to call him if i couldn't get it open with the few tools i have,  and just bounced.  Took the cash for the tow,  no receipt or anything.  I called him after trying for 30-45 minutes,  and said he'd be there after dropping off another tow in the area.  After 2 1/2 hours i called back since it was almost 3am, and he said he was still coming.  He never showed and my car eventually died from the battery draining,  a BRAND NEW BATTERY!!! I call the owner,  Mr. Burke the following morning and describe what happened.  He apologized and stated he's sorry for the wait,  and my car definitely should've been strapped down on both wheels,  and also that he'd get someone to come unlock the car.  He gets my info and ends the call.  He then calls back saying he has Mario on his other phone,  and that Mario didn't know the keys were in the ignition,  even though the car was running when he arrived AND he wrapped the driver's seat belt around the steering wheel.  So since he didn't see them,  it's MY FAULT they're locked in the car. To save an argument, I just advised Mr. Burke I didn't want him nor his drivers unlocking my car and I'd be going elsewhere.  He gets upset and yells when I let him know I'd be filing a complaint,  and refused to provide his VDOT ID number,  which is #1075272 BTW ....according to the complaints i just filed with AAA, VDOT and the USDOT. I couldn't care less about the wait time,  or even him having his son with him.  But the half strapping the car down,  child with no seatbelt,  erratic driving,  locking the keys in the car THEN just leaving my car to die all night is BEYOND horrible business.  Even the service from the owner was disgusting,  and his lack of care or professionalism is was prompted my post and my complaints.  I hope no one EVER uses this company again.  Their other reviews speak for themselves. read more

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS TOW TRUCK COMPANY!!! A week ago, my 17 year old son needed and tow, called AAA, and AAA sent Burke's out because it was a Sunday evening. The driver was very rough with the car, attached it to the truck's bed incorrectly, winched it down so hard that it bent both inner and outer tie rods, plus he somehow tore the bellows. $700 worth of damage. Then he literally "dropped" the car from the bed and took off. No paperwork, no signature, no receipt, no words. Beware if you are a AAA Tidewater member who needs a tow.
