Classic family diner that apparently has been owned and operated by the same family for three generations now which is great to see. We came at an irregular lunch hour so it wasn't too busy which is lucky because I've heard this place can bring a crowd. It's not hard to see why! The two workers were super friendly and sweet and we enjoyed chatting with them. I elected to go with a cheeseburger and a chili cheese hot dog. Both were exactly what I needed especially the hot dog, I'm still thinking about that chili. Our meal was incomplete though. It still needed desert. I haven't had a milkshake in a long time but being in here made me nostalgic so I had to grab one to go! I got a Reese's shake just like I used to get as a kid and boy did I not realize how much I missed them. That's the kind of place this is. It has a wholesome and timeless quality to it that takes you back to a simpler time. It's not fancy or dressed up, just quality food made by quality people. I wish I lived closer but I know I will make it back.

"Boiled then finished on the grill," she replied. Perfect. "And do you grill the bun, too?" "Absolutely!" We got a winner. I cannot stand only boiled hot dogs on a bun straight out of the wrapper. Seared. Charred. Grilled. Toasted. Do something to add character and flavor, please. This place understands. Within a few minutes my 1/6 pound beef hot dog was delivered. Charred dog, grilled bun, diced onions, tangy sauerkraut, and yellow mustard just as I asked. Mmmmm! Pro tip: both the hot dog and burger buns are brioche, and are then buttered before finishing on the grill. For me, it was too rich. Before leaving I asked if next time I could order without the bun being buttered. Absolutely. Yay! Looking for some good ol' beef dogs grilled on a toasty bun? Having driven by many times, it caught my attention from a Yelp review. And I am so happy I found it. I've been here twice ordering a dog and tater tots on my first visit, and a cheeseburger and potato salad on the second. Both were excellent and I'll be back for another round. Being a tiny, family owned business they rely on frozen items from their vendors for certain items (fries, tots, tenders). Who doesn't really? However there wasn't so we were able to walk right on in. There were some folks inside as well, and tables for us to sit. It's similar to most BBQ places where you order your meats by the pound. We had brisket, ribs and pulled pork. The ribs were so tender they fell off the bone. Literally just pulled the bone out. The flavors were outstanding. There was bbq sauce but truly wasn't needed, more just to enhance the flavors. The brisket was moist and tender. Seasoned to perfection. It as well needed nothing more. The pork was really good. Tender and juicy. We had a few sides but the most amazing one was the watermelon salad. With the mint, lime, cojita cheese, cucumbers, and red onions it was mind blowing. The way everything in the salad blended so well together was perfection. The Mac and cheese were just as top tier. The way the cheese pulled, the kick it had you could tell this was recipe that has been used for years. There was a bite to it and it was perfect. We also had the Mexican street corn that burst with so many flavors. And lastly we tried the hash brown casserole. It was definitely different but equally as delicious. The service was quick. The ladies that assisted us with our sides were the most friendliest. They encouraged us on the selection of sides, and shared their favorites with us. We arrived at 9:45 on a chilly, drizzly day and there were probably 50 people in line ahead of us. There was a friendly staff member monitoring and organizing the line and she told us we were there on a 'slow' day because of the weather. After the restaurant opened at 11, we waited in line for probably another 45 minutes until we got inside to order. The brisket was great, but the best things we had were the kolaches (stuffed breakfast rolls available before they open), Cheerwine hot link sausage, and fruit crisp. The Cheerwine sausage was the biggest surprise. It had a great flavor and wasn't sweet - I've never had anything like it before. When we get a chance to go back, we'll probably skip the pulled pork and mac & cheese. They were fine but there's a lot to try and these weren't anything special.
