While the interior didn't scream cleanliness, I liked the open layout and pictures of their signature menu items up on the walls. The staff was patient with me as I looked over their menu as a Culver's first timer. We went with their grilled chicken sandwich, butter burger with cheese, onion rings, fries, and a concrete mixer (custard plus mix-ins). The food, while freshly prepared, was of quite unremarkable fast food quality, but did the job of filling us up. The onion rings in particular were over salted which made them a little unappetizing. I had heard great things about their custard, so was excited to try out their Oreo concrete mixer, but it was similar in taste and consistency to a McFlurry at McDonald's (perhaps I should have stuck with plain vanilla custard). The food was quite overpriced as all fast food is these days. While I'm happy to have had my first Culver's visit and wouldn't object to visiting another location in the future, the otherwise average and unmemorable fast food experience won't have me rushing back either.

Because there were only two cars ahead of me they made me pull into a slot and wait and the guy that brought out the order with part of it missing and it's too late when I gotta drive all the way home and get into my house and see that half my order is missing. I did call and talk to the manager and he said he would make it right however, why should I waste gas driving back for their mistake? Now as for the food, the salad was good made with fresh ingredients, including the strawberries. Only problem is I had to supply my own dressing or drive back and waste gas to get dressing for the salad. The burger was made perfect as usual and as always, Culver's uses fresh ground beef never frozen. That's all I got to say!

While in Lake Geneva I searched the area for lunch and there is a restaurant .02 miles from me. The place has a decor with a fun vibe. They even have an ice cream shop in it. The menu is huge compared to the Pottillos Chicago chain. The employees are chick fil a friendly I noticed with every employee I encountered acknowledging me, how one chain set the bar and people notice when it comes from another chain. As a Chicago boy eating Chicago beef all my life I got the authentic beef dipped with hot peppers. Compared to portillos the beef is not as tender and has a sliced pot roast texture. The bread is fresh, chewy and denser and holds up too well because it didn't soggy the bread how I like it. The hot peppers are noticeable hotter with my running nose. Overall the two Chicago chains are doing Chicago beefs slightly different but they are still very good in different ways, Side note Oak Creek WI will get one soon which would be an hour round trip for me so unless I was in Oak Creek I will probably not get to this chain often when Portillos is 10 minutes round trip.
