She knew we were hesitant to do so but was assured that she would contact us first before she withdrew the money. She did not do this and took $2000 out of our account. She initially said she would credit our account, then said maybe she would pro-rate it but then got hateful and brought up the fact that we signed a contract saying that we were to have given her in writing a letter stating we no longer required her services and she was entitled to take out the money if this was not provided. Now at the end of the six months, I sent by return receipt requested a cancellation letter that my husband and I both signed. The post office tried twice to deliver it. She would not pick up her certified mail at the post office. She is ethically challenged, dishonest, wishy-washy on her email and unprofessional. All she does is blood work every so often and write prescriptions and talk on the phone or email you. No person-to-person office visits for $1000 a person! I will say that she is very knowledgeable but tends to over-prescribe hormones. If you do decide to seek her help, pay up front. DO NOT give her a credit card and DO NOT sign a contract.

She always runs late for appointments (seriously, usually an hour or so). But she is well-worth the wait. She runs late for appointments because she actually spends time listening to you and talking with you. She never rushes you and will spend an hour with you if needed. She will never make you feel rushed. She is proactive on treatment of anything and also a registered nutritionist. She will never say "well, let's see if your leg falls off first before we do something". She knows your history, will take action when needed, and also give you a reality check even if uncomfortable. I am seriously dreading the day when I move away from Pittsburgh and have to find another PCP, because none have ever or will ever be as great as Dr. March. Finally, they handed the sign-in sheet to me, and I filled it out, but then they did not bother to use it or look at my name on it. Anyway, I had a morning appointment, and I did not have to wait long to be called back to Dr. Mackey's office. I first saw her medical assistant, who took my weight and vital signs and asked me some questions. He had a pleasant personality. Several minutes later, Dr. Mackey entered the room. She made conversation with me to get to know me. Although I am slender and healthy, she talked with me about the importance of physical activity, which I think is important for all physicians to discuss with all patients. She performed a thorough physical assessment. (I am a nurse, and I approve of her assessment skills.) I asked her if she would order any lab tests for me, considering that my last lab work was done five years ago, and she ordered the tests for me.

As always, I still feel a tad rushed being in there, but maybe that's most places because they shuttle you in and out with so many patients to see. But this time I really felt like she listened to what I had to say. Things I was worried about, etc. I enjoyed that she shared some personal info with me, it made her seem a little more human and less white coat-y. I will admit, I'm still always listening for other people to say how much they like their doctor in hopes that one day maybe I'll find someone who really cares. I went to Dr. Levine as my pcp and gyne for a couple of years…read more When I was having regular migraines out of the blue, she said she didn't know why, and said they probably weren't migraines (they were localized headaches with an aura and vomiting). She prescribed me an antidepressant, with no other follow up to try and determine the cause. I didn't like the drug, so I tapered off of it. At my next appt, she just shrugged her shoulders and didn't offer any other tests or solutions, than to say it might be an allergy. (After about 2 years, the migraines stopped as suddenly as they started.) I had a mole removed that she said she wasn't going to bother sending for biopsy, even though it had become itchy and reddish. Then the kicker was when I went in after having menstrual spotting every day for over a month. I told her that my periods had always beem highly irregular (I was in my late 20's at this point) and that despite not using an sort of birth control regularly, I had never gotten pregnant. She said that it sounded on paper like PCOS but that she wasn't going to test me for it because I don't "look like" I have it. Then she said I probably can't have kids, and that's that, and sent me out thw door to schedule my next routine appt. I did not schedule another appointment. A couple of years later my husband and I started trying to have a kid. I skipped the ob-gyn and went straight to a fertility specialist. Not only was I immediately diagnosed with PCOS that I've likely had since puberty, but the years of not being diagnosed and treated for it had lead to a precancerous endometrial growth. The best thing I ever did for my health was to find a different doctor.
