The interior of the rooms are a bit older and they do not have the latest in TV's but they do have an amazing wireless Internet connection. They are directly across the street from the local marina and seaside park so you can watch the boats as they come in and out with their catch of the day and you are not far from being able to drop a line yourself. They offer rooms with kitchenette's, small fridges, suites, and you can bunk here for the night, week, or month depending on your schedule. I paid about $50 tax for the nights that I was in the area and that is a good price for the area. You can drive a bit and have one of the national hotel chains overhead for the night or you can stay here, soak in the local flair, and pay about half what you would elsewhere. This is worth sacrificing some of the nicer amenities to enjoy the coastal scenery and fishing hamlet hospitality.

We had reservations for over a month, we showed up and no one was there to check us in. We called for over an hour; leaving messages and walked the property to see if we could find someone.. no one responded to our messages until 1130 THAT NIGHT. We had to scrounge around to find someplace reasonable that had a room available. The next morning, we did get a call from a gentleman apologizing and said they would comp us 2 nights on our next trip. We called yesterday (a bit less than 3 months later) to schedule a trip in a month for 3 days, where we were told they would only comp us ONE night since it "had been so long". We CANCELED that trip and found someplace else to go. Sadly, they have now lost 2 loyal customers, and I no longer recommend anyone to the Seadrifter Inn. I am sorry that customer service is no longer important to the owners.

Unfortunately, that all changed during our most recent stay when we discovered BED BUGS in our room. Naturally, I contacted management to report the issue -- not to cause trouble, but to let them know what had happened. What followed was one of the most shocking customer service experiences I've ever had. I spoke with Christine, the manager, who was extremely rude, dismissive, and unprofessional. She barely let me speak, and essentially called me a liar. I wasn't angry -- I was just trying to explain the situation. Instead, I was treated with cruelty and total disregard. What makes this even more painful is that I'm dealing with serious personal circumstances -- we were there for our aunts funeral, my mother is battling cancer, and I have multiple health issue's myself. Why would I ever waste my time making something like this up? I called to protect other guests and give the hotel a chance to fix the issue. Instead, I was insulted, treated absolutely horrible, and ignored. If you value cleanliness, compassion, or even basic human decency, I strongly recommend you avoid this hotel. Bed bugs are a serious issue, and with all my health issues I have a huge job in front of me, and we don't have the money to hire professionals. I have already spent over $300 for this issue, poison, multiple bag seal containers, a steamer, ext. I had to go see my doctor because with my autoimmune disease this has caused an infection on my skin. Instead of this hotel taking responsibility or investigating, management chose to deny, deflect, and degrade. I genuinely hope they make changes, because no guest deserves to be treated this way.

Beyond the wonderful customer service we received, the hotel is new, clean, and has great views of the bay. Pets are welcome for a small fee and it's easy to get to convenient to everything in Port Lavaca. There is a great kids beach nearby with a fishing pier on the bay and several restaurants close by so even if you're just trying to get away for a day or two I highly recommend this location.

Since I belong to the IHG Rewards Club, I sometimes get special treatment and perks. At first I have trouble finding the hotel but with a little direction from nice local people I find it. As I drive up to it, I'm a little confused. No signage and it looks like a building under construction. Well not under construing under renovation. This hotel is located on the water and took a hit from Hurricane Harvey. After going through a tunnel and up an elevator I come to the front desk. The clerk was very pleasant and accommodating. I had been driving for hours and needed a restroom before going to my room. The lobby Men's room was unusable. Don't ask but all you had to do was look in-the toilet you'd understand. Well I used the ladies room. Hey when nature calls. Okay, so my room was on the top floor and on par for Holiday Inn standards. The elevator was a little tricky, kept opening and closing, but finally delivered me to my floor. Everything in the room was fine. In the morning I went down to breakfast and got the low down on this hotel. According to a nice lady working there, Hurricane Harvey really hit them hard, in fact all the windows blew out and they were under 5 feet of water. Ok, so I understand the appearance and give a pass. If I'm back in Port Lavaca, I'll be staying here.
