I am staying here for a week in a pod, in one of the hostel dorms. The beds are comfy and reasonably private. The shower facilities and bathroom are cleaned well daily. They offer towels and hairdryers. There is a bar open until 11:30pm. They stop serving food at 9:30pm. They offer medium and large size lockers for rent if the locker underneath the pods isn't enough room for your luggage. Also, today I saw them bring in an ironing board and iron for someone to use. The showers have excellent water pressure and have always had hot and cold water, for me. They are also a decent size with lockable doors. The pods all have curtains for added privacy. I recommend the BUNK Hotel if you want to stay somewhere more quiet, outside of the main areas, downtown.
Some of the things I didn't like are that the luggage room has no surfaces for getting your luggage out and getting the things you need. You have to just use the limited floor space and hope no one comes in. Also, the luggage room is SO hot. I also didn't like the limited menu at the restaurant. I ordered what I thought would be a beef taco, but ended up being more of a tostada with medium rare-ish beef strips, way too many sauces, lettuce, and a few veggies. I didn't really like the other offerings for lunch and dinner. I haven't seen the breakfast menu yet. Also, I wish their sparkling water was more affordable. I'm paying 3.00 for a small and 7.00 for a large. I decided just to go to the grocery store for it. I also wish there were hooks in the toilets! I used it for changing clothes and there aren't any shelves or hooks to hang a purse, or other clothes. I found a hack: if you use the toilet stall in the corner (the one that is triangle shaped) there is a window ledge in there you can use to put things on.
The Hotel itself is pretty cool. There is a large purple dinosaur in the lobby, who I call Barney. Barney had his own purse that only adds to his fabulousness. Most of the staff have been very helpful, especially the night manager. However, I feel like the bartenders could be more approachable and helpful. I asked for a dinner recommendation (that isn't the hotel) and was told that the hostess has a list... Also, I paid for a beer and a water, and the bartender forgot about me and went off shift. I had to ask the next bartender for it. One of the bartenders is standoffish and wasn't at all interested in banter with customers. On the whole, I've had way more positive experiences than negative and I've really enjoyed my stay! read more
