A lovely little pub that still has some of its original features such as the fireplace in the front…read moreroom which you can imagine being somebody's living room back in the day. There is some music memorabilia around the place, which adds interest. The pub is dog friendly and regulars often come in with their dog in tow. There is a bar menu serving traditional English food such as lasagne, scampi and steak and ale pie, sandwiches, burgers and salads with the 'back room' of the pub being a dining area. Was disappointed they didn't serve hot chocolate (you can't have everything eh?!) but tea and coffee were offered as alternatives. There are plenty of public footpaths nearby, and this pub provides a perfect little pit stop whilst you have been walking around the lush countryside. There is a good size car park round the back. A friendly pub with friendly regulars.

There is a restaurant next door to the bar area, both of which are cosy and inviting. There are tables outside, but they are too low lying to have a view and/or are cheek by jowl with parked cars, which is a shame considering the great location. Until recently this pub was full of good home cooking: filling lasagnes, chicken dishes, a fine ploughmans salad and all kinds of good filling dishes. There is now a new and more trendy menu, which we haven't been able to try yet because the kitchen was closed when we visited recently. Nice place, worth a detour, will be interested to try the new menu next time.
