Vases brightly glazed and with intricate cutouts. Funky art that is just plane fun! I was told by other visitors to allow myself time to adjust to all the bright colors- but for me it was to adjust to how much they have packed into the space! There was just so much to see!!! Carol greeted me once I came through the door and her excitement just fed my own excitement! Carol and her husband have been doing pottery for over 31 years and started their business in Florida, only to move to Seagrove and bring their unique art to the pottery community. The two mix their own clay- a secret recipe of their own that fires at a wildly unique temp! Cone 1- if you know- you know. Fascinating conversation! John saved me from having to pick a piece of art to take home by spotting a wall plaque with a kitty- in their signature bright glazes. She is already hanging just inside my front door! Her happy new home. I hope to save up for a larger piece of their art- because I was so impressed by it!!!

I had seen that she did a collaboration with other women potter's in the area for a big fundraising event & the figures she created have this powerful, regal feel. Goddess, empress, high priestess... she has several in her shop of various sizes in addition to her lovely bee themed series! She's a bee keeper in addition to a potter, small business owner and who knows what else this powerhouse has going on! I remember being so impressed the first time I met her. She took me right out to show me her kiln she was unloading! Turns out, we share a common friend outside of Seagrove. Michael Cottrell. My school professor! They go way back. Very small world. The anagama kiln and the new one being built out back are impressive. The studios for processing the local clay, throwing and glazing all had individual spaces in historic buildings. I fist loved the chime bowls hanging out front on the porch, the shelves outside full of the sons work. Inside I was stunned by beautiful artistry. I love trees and that was a continued theme in this shop. The soul bowls were lovely too- a concept beautifully brought to realization by the artist. The behind the scenes tour was just the icing. I bought 2 pieces and struggled immensely trying to choose. One carved tree wall plaque and one woodfired bottle with a tree carved in. Thank you for the meet and greet- and I might snag one of the bowl chimes on my next visit!

Why pick up a cup from a department store when you can have "the only one"? Then, there is the invention: A small pound cake ceramic pan (with recipe). A bowl for cooking and serving an individual baked apple. An Apple shaped Apple Crisp bowl that goes straight to the table. In case you've ever given thought as to how your family will remember you, someone picking up a unique piece of cookware and having fond memories of mealtime around the table is not a bad way to be recalled. We have been very impressed with Sandra and Glenn. They are not a secret in the area, but maybe less known than they should be.

They had a meet…read morelocal artists night at the local wine bar and I was chatting with another local when Nicole arrived. She was in the brink of opening her own studio and shop! I followed her on IG & was returning in June for a birthday trip, so I made a mental note to make it to her place. I met her dogs, chickens, ducks & even gave her hubby some tips since he was learning how to turn pots. I bought a lovely dish from her then. Fast forward, I'm still following her on social & a that she has a new goal of building a new studio and shop bigger and better on her family property across the street from the current location. Move that goal post, chase that dream! So, Nicole is using clay from her property to make mugs that she uses a technique called sgraffito, carving through underglaze. She carved these cabin mugs as her vision for the new place and every one of those mugs sold is going directly into the build fund. Her goal, make and sell 100. I'm a very passionate person about the arts, ceramics. I also love connecting with people and adore seeing what other people's dreams are, what they are passionate about. I couldn't wait to support her again and buy one of these very special mugs. If you love the look of want to grab one of your own, she does sell online too! I'm rooting for you Kluba Ceramics!!!
