This place has been redone for the royal visits around here...now its beams are not nicotine stained or the upholstery frayed..and to be fair they have tried with its restaurant at the back.
To be safe we booked a table, as it was Friday night however there was no need..there were only a handful of people seated for its "infamous" steak night.
When we arrived we were not asked if we had booked , and I just sat down anywhere..I had to ask specially whether they served just steak, the chef just said he had cannoloni in the back so I went for the salmon for a main and mussels for starters.
The mussels were nice, especially with the two baguettes, although I did have to request a spoon to consume the juice.
The salmon was okay, the skin non crispy balanced on some overcooked potatoes..everything was seasoned and spiced well but no one likes wrinkly potatoes..
My parents were happy with theirs.. and we went for liqueur coffee to finish. These were.wishy washy and I'm thankful they just charged us for a small coffee.
Overall..service was satisfactory, presentation good ..for a local pub fine .but I'm spoiled by the city... read more
