Wide Sesame Sticks were RANCID. This stuff must have been in their warehouse for several years. The moment I opened the bag the odor was so bad I wanted to puke. These were part of a $100 order. Of course, I immediately threw the entire order out - headed for the landfill. I wouldn't put anything from this company in my mouth. When I reported my experience to BulkFoods they said they would refund me for 3 bags of Wide Sesame Sticks. WHAT? That's really weak. Patetic in fact. No explanation, no apology, no concern - like just another customer complaint to them. I do not usually leave reviews, but I follow several stores in my area and I am a regular customer of this company. I see some of these negative reviews and just wanted to say I have never experienced anything negative about the staff or products they sell. It drives me crazy to read some peoples comments about returns when the employees are only following company policy detailed on the website. Who admitingly throws away unopened product and then wants a refund for it?!? Products arrive timely, taste fresh, and one time I had entered the wrong shipping address on my order and the team there promptly sent me my products again while they worked on getting the package returned to them. First thing is Website could be better to navigate... some of the negative reviews made me a little skeptic at first.. but decided to make a trial purchase of some smaller items.. They had to offer many different types of foods that are at a lower price than other online vendors that I could research.They have a pretty big selection and am currently transitioning into a vegan diet I was amazed how fast the actual package got here..Props to them and UPS. This happened a few years ago, so I haven't ordered anything since. The night after my large bag of dried banana chips arrived, I opened the bag to have a snack of a couple handfuls for a snack. Lighting was dim at the time. After reaching for a third handfull I was in better lighting & had noticed the bag was infested with tiny moth-like bugs & maggots (probably baby moths)... and there were moths flying out of it. I probably ate some! I threw up, then drank a bunch of vodka in the hopes it would kill any bugs or germs still left in my belly. There were no holes in the bag anywhere, which means they were packaged with the bugs. This was a clear plastic bag. How did they pack my order without looking at the product & not seeing bugs? I ordered dozens of stuff from them before, but never again. I wonder how many bugs I consumed before without knowing. read more

Hard place to find. Young woman cashier was nice enough but when other employees came out made us feel we were in their way. Found the candy we were looking for. Made in Mexico with no date marks. Bought a five pound bag and the candy smelled awful. Assuming the smell is from the vacuum packing of the outer plastic. Once aired out candy itself did not smell. They taste OK. Probably won't go back as Boyd's retro is closer to me but they were out of what I was looking for. read more

I rarely write reviews online, but their HORRIBLE customer service pushes me to do so. They sent the wrong item. I email them along with a picture and the order in question. It takes them 2 days to write back asking me if I would like to buy the wrong product at half price. Say what??? No professionalism in that family owned business. After years of buying there, spending thousands of dollars, this is how they treat us back when THEY MAKE A MISTAKE. When their customer service writes, there is no greeting hello or goodbye, no person signs it either. Just a sentence or two and nothing more!!! I just called them and when I asked for the girl's name she could only give me a rep number! Say what and you are a family business??? I've noticed they've increased their prices in many items, I will definitely be looking elsewhere. You can truly measure a company's competency by how they handle errors. Human errors happen all the time, but it is HOW the company resolves mistakes that SPEAKS VOLUME about who they really are. Not only do they not have a toll free telephone number, when you ask them to call you back, they don't. If I could give a 0 instead of a 1 star, I definitely would. Ok, I checked many sites looking for seeds/nuts/beans, and bulkfoods has really really good price. But the reviews are so bad so I hesitated for a while before place my first order. Got it yesterday and I checked 4 items out of the seven I ordered and it was very good quality from what I can tell. No issue at all. I popped the Amaranthseeds and mixed with peanut butter, my coworkers loved it. I will continue order from bulkfoods and hopefully I will not get issues like others. Ordered items from this company and the floor number was not on invoice but I did have the phone number.. UPS sent it back to the company after 3 attempts. I had to contact them to find out what happened to my order. UPS has a policy on their website that after the first attempt-they contact the company to get the correct info. What bulkfoods said to me is that if I wanted to reorder I would have to pay an additional shipping charge. in essence I was paying shipping twice. I offered to split the shipping charge and they said no. After I contacted the Better business bureau-they sent me back my money but charged me double anyway for shipping. this company has poor customer service with a very nasty attitude. they do not treat their customers right. I have found another place where I am now getting top quality service as well as the products needed. the back thing about this all was although my order was small-I work for a very large company who planned to do business with them if my order was successful. They have missed out. I do not recommend this company to anyone. read more

If you want quality cashews or quality customer service, you may not be happy with these people. When my $107 order of 15 lbs of "Extra Large" Cashews arrived, I opened one of the 5-lb bags without disputing the definition of "Extra Large" and found the oily taste so overwhelming, I could hardly taste cashew due to the burnt oily taste. Fpr 1/4 the price I could have bought better tasting peanuts. Maybe they were roasted in peanut oil as the label states, but the main taste was like spoiled or overheated vegetable oil. Maybe it was spoiled or overheated peanut oil; I'm no expert in bad oily tastes. My email to customer "service" at vip@bulkfoods.com received no reply, but I bet BulkFoods is knowledgeable in bad oily tastes. Bulk Foods had a special low price, which probably made me decide to order from them rather than a quality site I've used named Sunnyland that charges about 50% more. After tasting these I looked at internet postings by customers dissatisfied in Bulk Food products or weak customer service, which I wish I had done before losing $107 for 15 lbs of crap. read more
