Having just moved to the area about a year ago, I have found locating a place for fresh produce and specialty items to be difficult. While I don't want to break the bank at uber expensive grocery stores, I turn my nose a bit at the everyday grocery stores in my area. I never know if the produce is fresh, old, or tainted (sprayed chemicals). Fresh Thyme, though 15 minutes from my home, seems to have a decently stocked produce section and a variety of organic produce as well. I find the pricing to be hit or miss, but I can pretty much get all of what I need for a weeks worth of cooking here without having to go anywhere else. I wouldn't come here for everyday things such as TP or dish detergent, but for veggies and organic goods this is it. read more

I like this store :) it has better priced veggies and fruit I think and they have coffee dispensers of beans of all different types you buy by the lb or whatever amount you want. Same for nuts, dried fruit etc. I like their healthy vibe here. It's like they sell the stuff you don't see at a regular store. If you're vegan, vegetarian they have a lot more choices and a lot of the plant based products. I personally am not vegan or vegetarian but this store has made me think of trying it out here and there. They have a good meat counter with butcher. Also have sushi here as well. There is imported beer and fairly big vitamin area with supplements etc. just overall a good store with not average items. read more

Fresh Thyme! Fresh Thyme! Fresh Thyme! You never seem to disappoint me. They have the best fresh lamb and salmon in the area. I love the variety of produce and proteins they have available. They have everything from chicken to sausages, to seafood. Their marinades are also delicious, my two favorite are the sweet chili and black pepper marinade. Fresh time has some of the cleanest foods that I find that also meet my dietary needs. I also enjoy getting natural soaps and essential oils from them. Lastly, the staff is always super friendly and helpful! If you have any questions, they're glad to assist with a smile on there face. The saying is true, " you get what you pay for." I adore this store! This is by far my favorite spot for quality meats, seafood, and produce. They have a great selection of Kosher and ethnic foods not found in other area chains. The weekly barn burners (aka sales)are great! I've yet to be disappointed with any of their deli items. If you like Tuna Poke the spicy tuna poke here is better than anything I've had this far from the ocean! Everything is always truly fresh. The workers are top notch as well. I never have to struggle to find assistance, and everyone always seems to know the inventory well. I'm pretty sure they have a senior discount day? I love this place. I eat a Keto diet and was able to find some staples here. They have a nice bulk area and an amazing fresh produce area. If I ate bread they have a nice selection similar to what Anderson's used to have. The meet selection was good too. It reminds me of a store we have in Texas called Sprouts. They even have a good vitamin section. I only spent about 15 minutes in the store but will definitely return when I'm in the area! Some of the Keto items I bought.... I have been shopping here for a while now until today. I decided to get the macro greens powder and they don't match price. I'm not talking about 2-4 bucks. It's $10 cheaper on amazon with next day delivery. Here is $43.99, online $34.99. I'm mean really?! I give two start for the organization and cleanliness of this location, the gentleman who always stacks the produce is very nice; always greets others and myself. The produce price is good compared to other stores. I also enjoyed the vegan chips selection, the bulk grains and other interesting things they sale. Fresh Thyme manages to keep a personalized feel to the grocery shopping experience. What a contrast to the big box stores. The range of products includes items not found elsewhere. And while it is not inexpensive, careful shopping can result, as it does with me, in a very pleasing shopping experience. I can't tell you how badly I wanted this store to succeed after having shopped at a couple of their Michigan locations and was very pleased. I have given the Toledo store many chances since they opened and have to say I've finally given up. Quality of produce is hot or miss - no quality consistency. Same for the seafood and other store departments. Stopped in today with one item in mind - "The Grainery" fresh milled oatmeal. To the best of my knowledge, the only store left in the Toledo area that sells it. Saw a few other items of interest that I picked up - one of which was fresh Blackberries. I looked them over carefully because I have been burned with moldy berries from this location in the past. I picked up what appeared to be a couple of good containers - no mold I could see. Got them home and went to clean them - all the "invisible" berries were full of mold. Tossed them in the trash. Last week, we bought Cod for dinner. Got home with it, took it out of the package and it reeked. Rinsed it off - as I do with any fresh seafood I purchase and it still reeked. In to the trash it went. Again, not the first time this has happened. Too many other quality stores around the area to waste my time and money here. read more

I'm really loving the Fresh Thyme Farmer's Market, sort of a perfect middle ground between a Whole Foods and Trader Joe's, kinda like Fresh Market but less stuffy and pretentious. Recently discovered it's a subset of Meijer, as they enter the higher end grocery game, and I'm ok with that. We often do a lot of shopping at Meijer. They're a good Michigan company that supports the arts and local farmers-win win. Fresh Thyme has a not huge but good selection of brands and often has a lot of great deals that keeps the prices competitive. Plus, they carry a lot of brand we were previously only able to get through Door to Door Organics, and the prices are a bit cheaper. The quality of the produce is excellent, and they have a great selection of good cheeses, breads, snacks, chips, and sauces. For the price, I haven't been terribly impressed with the packaged meats and fish, though they do have a very nice fresh butchers case with lots of great cuts of everything from Wild caught seafood to organic beef. The supplement section and homeopathic areas are robust and carry a range of items previously only available at Claudia's or Basset's (not that you shouldn't buy local, just sayin). I've also found the staff to be very friendly and helpful while not intrusive, seems like everyone enjoys working there so I'm assuming they treat staff well. Stop in and poke around, there's a lot of great and weird stuff to be found - strange salsas, weird noodles, really great seitan, an olive bar, piles of nuts, and the most "healthy" chips and snacks in exotic flavors. Should add, not a great place to do all your shopping, as it can add up. But to grab a week's worth of groceries and ingredients for a dinner or two, it's more than reasonable. read more

Let's start with the good: the store is very clean and the presentation is nicely done. The sample offerings and food/drink tasting is a nice touch. I would be willing to pay a premium for their items. The store is bright and the shelves are well stocked. Their prepared foods from what I could tell appear fresh and the items I purchased were fairly tasty. The not so great and why I won't be a frequent shopper: the staff is not friendly. They aren't rude, they are just indifferent. I would argue the cashier who assisted me probably could care less if the store closed and she lost her job. They didn't do anything wrong but they don't provide anything pleasant. Think of Chick-Fil-A and all their fabulousness and go the opposite direction!! From those who are stocking the shelves to the staff behind the counters - not a single person will greet you, acknowledge you, smile, or even ask if assistance is needed. I find that so odd, don't you? Everything I can find in this store I can find at another local store, Amazon Prime or at Trader Joe's or Whole Foods right across the border. I hope they do a store training on basic customer service principles and I think it would go a long way. Essentially, you are invisible until you grab your receipt and then you get a thank you. read more

Just returned home from my 2nd trip in the last few weeks to Fresh Thyme since their Grand Opening...To be honest I was much more impressed during the Grand Opening weekend because I thought the prices were great...Unfortunately now that the Grand Opening is over the prices that were great have definitely increased and does not make the store near as attractive as it was 3-4 weeks ago. The store is definitely clean with very helpful staff....They offer many specialty items that most "regular" grocery stores don't offer which makes it a bit different...It is located in the former Office Depot off Monroe just west of Talmadge so the easiest way to get in and out is utilizing the light that offers ingress and egress to Bed Bath & Beyond..It will make the traffic headache a lot easier to navigate. Now to get back to why I am not as big of fan as I was when they opened....We went to purchase coffee beans and chicken breast tonight because the last time we were there they had good deals on these items such as gourmet coffee beans being $5.99 a pound and Chicken Breast being $1.99 a pound.....We found out during tonight's trip that the coffee beans have went up to $8.99 a pound which is in line with other stores and depending on the store a bit higher.....The chicken breast are now $2.99 a pound which is higher than Fresh Market and $1.00 higher than Kroger.... It appears that the numerous "well priced" items we found during the Grand Opening weekend are NO More.....If you live in the general area I would say sure why not stop by and check it out but I don't see myself or many people using them as a "primary" grocery store. read more

The store is nicely laid out, and they have a lot of vegetarian items, and a good selection of kombucha. However, the customer service here is probably the worst I've ever experienced. As other reviewers have commented, the people that work here act like they don't care if they are fired or not, and don't try to be remotely courteous or friendly. For the higher prices, I personally would rather just go to a store that provides a nicer overall shopping experience. read more

Not shopping there anymore. After the cashier did not honor the markdown coupon on a bakery item I purchased I questioned her immediately and she said she had. I checked my receipt after leaving the store and she did not. I called the store, talked to the manager and she said to come back in with the receipt and they would refund me the amount. The manager then refused to refund the markdown saying they don't markdown for that amount. I wouldn't have bought it if it wasn't marked down the $2. You lost a customer over YOUR error. Clean, well organized & overall friendly staff. Love the tuna steaks here! You can do peppercorn or plain both are good. Prices are great if you shop the sales. If you like bratwursts their chicken brats are awesome & the run them on sale like 2 times a month. The soup & salad bar is always clean & fresh. The fresh baked bread is good. I feel like the meat shelf life in the fridge lasts way longer than kroger but everyday products are cheaper at Kroger for side dishes. The fresh sausages were very good - especially the Hot Chicago! - and they carry a large variety of organic produce. Been to Fresh Thyme Market many times and can actually say I really love it there. In general the regular prices are a bit higher than the larger grocery stores, but the sale prices are great! The store is always clean and the staff is always friendly and helpful. Great for the large assortment of organic foods and the bulk food section. Appreciated is the bulk spice section. when I only need a "pinch" of one of those odd spices that you probably will never use again. Buy that pinch right there at Fresh Thyme. Won't be doing my major shopping there, but I will visit often read more

I really enjoy the variety of food items found at this store that I can not find at my local major grocery store chain. Also, their prices for their fresh food items are extremely reasonable. The only negative thing I would have to say is in regards to their food items that are packaged in store such as their salads, desserts, etc. Sometimes these items are well passed their expiration date and I have found moldy desserts while shopping there. read more

Stopped by this store in the evening for a late, light, quick dinner with our daughter in law.....the wife and I picked up a salad from the salad bar and each ordered a personal pizza....fresh thyme pizzas ate the best!! C.J. was the young man making the pizza, and we were very impressed by his personable, friendly demeanor. He is the epitome of what customer service should be (and used to be) in all stores and restaurants. He only needed to take our order and make our pizza, but his friendliness and super attitude went well above that.....our 2 cashiers (Lisa and Betsy) were also very polite and friendly. Fantastic prices on produce and other vegetarian and vegan goods. Five stars based on the produce quality and prices alone. Not too impressed on the meat, but the produce and prices make up for it. There are additional sales on Wednesdays. The company is from the Midwest and does a good job of purchasing from local farmers in the areas where the stores are located. They do not believe in making customers join a loyalty program because they find the same to be discriminatory to those who don't wait to join. You will not find popular brand named products (big names cereal, Jiff peanut butter, etc.) at the market. Instead they will have other options. Try them. I'd prefer to shop here than Whole Foods, any day. read more

Yes, I am a fan - with some important caveats. I am from South Toledo, and Fresh Thyme is in West Toledo. To get there, some of the worst traffic in the city must be navigated in order to drive into the lot. When we arrived there, early on a Thursday afternoon a week after the grand opening, the parking lot was pretty full. When we got inside, the store was nice, clean, and crowded. There are many choices for specialty food and drink and the prices were decent. That being said, I am usually not in the market for the special "foody foods" that are on sale there. They have fresh fish, fresh sausage, juice (made there themselves (not pasteurized), lots of frozen food along the organic and vegetarian lines, lots of produce, both normal offerings such as a regular grocer would have, and specialty items. They have bulk food of many types. You could spend hours in there if you wanted to do that. When I left, I only had a tab of $15 - not much for a grocery store trip. I picked up a couple of things that were not offered at my regular grocery store, but, all in all, it just comes down to the fact that I just don't buy this stuff on a regular basis (and I had just done my regular shopping the day before). Upon leaving the store, the parking lot (the former Office Depot building on Monroe) was crammed with people. Getting OUT of the parking lot back to Monroe involved circling around to the Bed, Bath and Beyond lot and going out with the traffic light. After a slow trip down Talmadge past the mall through stop and go traffic, we were finally free to head south again through the speed trap that is Ottawa Hills. Bottom line is this: it seemed like a lot of trouble to me to battle all of this traffic to go look at stuff I will probably never buy. I will admit that I'm over 60 (get off my lawn, ha ha) but I have an open mind. IF you live in Sylvania, West Toledo, or Ottawa Hills, and don't mind Monroe St. traffic to discover the hidden gems here, then definitely check them out. If you are looking for something special you can't find at your regular grocer, then by all means go. I did buy ground beef at a good price in a 2+ lb. package and it was fine. If buying organic is what you do, then they have a great selection with good prices. I would like to visit again when it isn't quite as busy so I could concentrate on the offerings more and check out prices better. The produce looked good and was arranged very colorfully and looked very fresh. Plan your trip on an "off" time (early on a Monday morning or late on a Sunday evening?) if you really want to take your time to explore. There are only two in our family now, so I buy differently than someone with a large growing family would. I would go without the kids the first time - the store is not totally divided into aisles and rambunctious kids will run into a lot of stuff set out all over the store.
