Their product selection is incredible - so many spices and teas and other food products to smell and learn about and try! The family that owns Épices de Cru is such a big deal (and so great), they even have a book about their travels, their spices, and their cooking style! So if you're in Jean-Talon Market and enjoy to cook, stop by this little shop. It's so well stocked with so many amazing products, it's practically a guarantee you'll love it!

So many spices and herbs to choose from and just checking them out gave me a lot of inspirations! Epices de Cru is also a tea shop. A whole wall full of loose tea leaves in tins. You can buy them in small package which the staff will pack them for you. The lady that served us was really knowledgeable and helpful and is a real tea sommelier. Their selection is from all over the World and they have interesting offerings from smaller tea plantations. You can also buy a hot tea to go brewed from one of the tea leaves! This was a highlight during my recent visit of Marche Jean-Talon. So if you love tea, spices and herbs, make sure you drop by Epices de Cru!

I was particularly interested in the French skincare care brands such as Le Petit Marseillais and Dop which are normally very hard to find in Canada. They had a decent selection of soaps and bodywashes priced fairly compared to the original prices in Europe. If you are not familiar with the brands, you may still be impressed by the goods - we ended up purchasing some specialty sodas and unique potato chips along with other snacks. Excellent and friendly service from the staff. Wish the selection was bigger and some things more affordable, I noticed they had a section of discounted goods that were close to or past their best before date therefore I think this shop doesn't get enough customers or may not sell enough products.

This shop in a majesty of culinary delights! I impressed myself a little bit by immediately (and accidentally) homing in on one of the shop's most popular spice blends: the Mediterranean sea salt. Either that, or the incredibly friendly staff were just selling me on it by telling me it's one of their best-selling products. The entire stash of bagged spices reportedly sells out within days of being stocked! And a little less than half a kilo went for only $4.46CAD -- what a steal (so was the huge bag of bay leaves for $1.25)! Protip: be prepared for TSA to search your bag if you end up purchasing some spices from this shop. Apparently, it looked like we were smuggling some illicit substances back home...

All nuts are roasted on the premises hence the freshness and the amazing smell coming out from the back of the store. Roasted nuts are available as salted, semi salted or unsalted. It also has middle eastern grocery items like makdous (stuffed eggplants), red pepper paste, dates, etc. In addition, they sell Turkish/Arabic coffee ground. Service is quick even if sometimes a line forms in the store due to high volume of customers.

There is all kind of spices, whole or powdered. I was looking for sesame seeds and had to choose between natural to roasted to double roasted. This is a self serve store where one can purchase as much or as little as needed. The area is large enough to exhibit all the food containers nicely spaced out so that it is easy to circulate with the trolley. The place is reasonably clean and tidy. Great way to do shopping and reduce waste.
