We joined this camp at the last minute, and it felt like maybe the company did as well. The individual staff who worked with our kids (5 and 10 years old) were very nice and I appreciated them a lot. But the organization at the higher level was pretty poor. First, they were far too expensive for what they offered (short days, no lunches or snacks included). They also indicated that a builder apron, for an additional $10, was "recommended", so when we enrolled we added that because we figured our kids wouldn't be able to participate properly without it. It turns out that the aprons were late, and showed up at the end of the last day...so now we own two expensive aprons that were never used and will sit forever in storage, yay. Several other parents were really annoyed when they discovered this, and we all asked if we could opt out of the aprons. Apparently, the staff "would ask", but we heard nothing more about it and on the last day out came the aprons. It just kind of felt like there was a lot of upselling happening, including a lot of talk at the end about all their other camps that we should attend.
This particular Builder Bunch also didn't have all the waiver forms for us to sign until the third day, and one day they were locked out of the building (First Alliance Church location) for the first two hours of the day. This seemed to have been the fault of the church, giving them the wrong key, but all these little things just sort of added up to make me wonder what I was paying so much for. My kids also didn't like it, which is probably the most important thing. They said the activities were okay, but came away each day glad to be going home. I think they were bored, and I know my older son felt a bit bullied in his group but nothing seemed to have been done about it. On the last day he said he spent most of the day cleaning up after other people, and we wondered why we were paying $75 for him to spend 9-4 cleaning up. For his efforts he got a "prize", which was a small 3D printed keychain with the Builder Bunch logo on it. It was nice that he was recognized, but overall it was just a pretty meh experience for everyone. I probably wouldn't recommend it to a friend unless they were really stuck. read more
