Coming from LA where clubs rise and fall every six months like the changing of the seasons, you can't help but become a bit of a snob no matter where you go only because you have experienced so many fail. L'Arc is supposed to be THE club, trendy, elite, jet-set, but to me it doesn't give off that vibe on the interior. You might as well be in any club in LA, they are doing the same thing: letting hot girls in and keeping ALL guys out unless they have connections or they have bought a table before hand. Pros: What sells this club for me is that it is RIGHT next to the Arc de Triumph. Literally. Cons: No dance floor, difficult to get cabs late at night, no real point going unless someone in y our group has a table because otherwise there is no where to sit. Oh and ps: I think the music is so-so. All american top of the pop charts singles like rhiana and jay z and no real electro to speak of.

This whole time i was being pushed and shoved by others trying to find people to get them into the club. The bouncers and even the owner himself were no help in telling us why the line wasn't moving. Everybody claimed they didn't speak english. We were told we just had to wait. This whole time people were being let in if they found somebody they knew. It was a complete mess and definently felt very intentional and racist. I will never give this establishment another second of my time or anymore of my hard earned money. This experience messed up my Paris experience as far as nightlife is concerned.

Upon my second visit, I made it all the way in before I was chased down with a sign. 20 Euro cover on some nights, but there was no notice anywhere because someone forgot to put it up. Like, they literally pulled it out of a drawer and put it in our faces like we were supposed to know. Not really worth it...it seems like more of a place for the older crowd, which I am not. There was a complicated situation and I asked the Maitre D if it would be ok if I spoke to him in a little English because the situation exceeded my French Skills. From that moment on, the maitre D was a total jerk to me personally, even later when heading to the restrooms he mocked me a little for missing the signs and needing to ask directions. Curious, it was Bossa Nova Jazz, and no one danced- I don't know if it was forbidden of if folks just don't dance in this venue. Our waiter was EXCEPTIONAL and made up for the Maitre D(ouchebag). Our food was good, solid- the menu included an entree, plat, dessert, coffee, wine plus the show for 60 Euros. I had no complaints. The place was HOT, boiling hot. We sat and sweated. The performance we saw was good, solid, nothing inspiring or memorable. I am glad I went, but probably won't go back.
