I have purchased books on Native American legends about the American bison, farm-raised hides work gloves as gifts for people who love the Old West but didn't have these, and a set of FUNCTIONAL, artisian knives for myself. I saw a billboard for this store on Hwy 287 on my way to Amarillo, so I decided to check it out on the way back to Dallas. Although it's located on the side of the highway, it's not easily seen so be sure to use your GPS. It's a good fit for this part of Texas with all of the cattle ranches nearby, but also because it's not too far from Caprock Canyons State Park which is home to one of the few remaining buffalo herds in the US. This store has all things buffalo, meaning it's either made from buffalo or it is buffalo themed. They have jewelry, vests, t-shirts, hides, gloves, shoes, belts, purses, knives, pottery, saddle blankets, decorative cow skulls, gorgeous artwork, and other miscellaneous gift items. What a great find off of Hwy 287. I saw the billboards on the way up, so I stopped to give it a look see. This place has everything Bison! I stopped for some Bison meat, but they have a lot more. On our way to Amarillo for a much needed break, my fiance happened to notice Buffalo Gold on the side of the road. As I was starving and wanting to get some steak in Amarillo, I promised him we could stop there on our way home. OMG, I am SO glad that we did! The owners are the sweetest two people, who also happen to be very knowlegable about all their products- they even visit the ranch in Wisconsin where they get some of their meat. I had never had a bison burger before, so we decided to get some ground meat, along with some bratwurst (hey, I'm from Wisconsin!). I have NEVER had a burger that tasted as good as the ones we made the other night... and are making again tonight. I'm thinking we will have to be ordering some more from them because seriously, I don't think I want a regular beef burger ever again. If you happen to be anywhere in the Goodnight, Texas area (or are looking for a fun roadtrip) I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend stopping at Buffalo Gold/Herd Wear... you will not regret it! read more

Do NOT stop here!!!! They are rude and uninviting. My family stopped for some bison jerky when we saw the sign and of course we were intrigued by the buffalo in the field behind the store so my daughter and I started walking toward the fence while my husband and son went into the store. On the way, we saw two dogs tied up to chairs panting but wagging their tails when they saw us. We walked by saying "Hi!" when this older man came out yelling "Don't EVER approach dogs when you don't know anything about them!" We hadn't even touched them. My daughter immediately started tearing up because he was so abrasive and scary. I told him we were just there to buy some jerky and walked away... I told my husband not to buy anything and we left. read more
