Buffalo carries a nice mix of new and used clothes. And the place is huge. Priced well, my daughter found a huge pile of stuff she wanted. I'm a bit more selective when I thrift, but I finally found the perfect black turtleneck. I've been trying to replace a specific weight for 5 yrs and I finally found one that isn't too thin nor too heavy. I almost always stay in NoMad or Chelsea when I'm in town and it's is a very easy walk to Buffalo Exchange. Located with a handful of thrift stores in a row, it's a good area to hit up if you like thrifting. Service was very friendly. I'm glad it's becoming more popular. It's good for the earth. Way too many clothes end up in dumps. So resell and reuse, people. read more

Expanding past the Chelsea Flea Market, W. 26th Street has become a row of vintage/thrift cloting stores which ride the trend of interest and fashion of upcycling and 2nd hand clothes. The over 50 year old Buffalo Exchange, with their "buy/sell/trade" business model, originated in Tuscon, for some reason reminds me shopping at Burlington, with out the obnoxiously slow lines. Perhaps it was their clearly not used, impulse gifts that are sprinked around the store... or perhaps it was their rack of ugly Christmas sweater or new looking synthetic cowskin boots. Nope, nope and nope. To me, it just didn't feel like there was any vintage style, which I was expecting. Then again, maybe I"m not their demographic for their "fashion." read more

While I understand the policy of how they buy their clothing and how they choose to give you the money and the percentage - what I don't appreciate is how they frame it and moreso how I was spoke to at the counter. When I'm speaking to another staff member I don't appreciate a know it all queen jumping in my conversation to pop off and prove a point I didn't ask her directly to begin with. To the diva with the long red hair at the register working next to AP - please mind your own business next time. You didn't even give the person I was working with the time to explain. I work in sales and your attitude was such a turn off today and to be frank I wasn't speaking to you to begin with so I'm confused how you joined my conversation with my associate. Also appreciate you talking over me - it really made you look authoritative and very informative which seemed to be your point. read more

Sold clothes here and it was honestly a pretty great experience compared to what I am use to. (I have sold at other locations before). The wait was a bit long, so I shopped around a bit, but the girl helping me i think she said her name was Hailey was so sweet and helpful I couldn't believe it! Made the wait worth it! I'm use to the buying experience being stressful and she made it extremely fun and full of conversation. Will absolutely be selling here only going forward !! There is also honestly a great selection of clothes for sale. Lots of hidden gems in the racks and sooo much to go through!! It seems like they are getting hundreds of new pieces a day so there is always new stuff on the racks. My only issue is with how much there was to go through I spent over an hour looking after I sold !! My favorite stuff was under this y2k section near the front I recommend checking that out ! read more

You can't even haggle with the prices. Half of the clothes are damaged in pieces meaning if you don't have an eye for seeing any type of detail then they will buy things that are damaged. I blame corporate because they have put these policies in place. The service was amazing where they were absolutely perfect. The policy of the store needs to change because everything is used items but corporate have it priced like it's brand new when it's not! If I could give 0 stars I would but the people who work there deserve 5 stars while the brand & corporate deserves to have negative stars! Change how it used to be! read more

Great store and great selection! Becca was awesome! Love the Western vibe and collection of vintage pieces'

UPDATE: REPORT THIS BUSINESS TO THE BBB IMMEDIATELY. I have been a loyal customer at this location for years, and today will be the last time they ever see me. They will never get another dollar from me. Over the past month, my girlfriend and I noticed a disturbing pattern: every time we shopped, security would follow us around the store. My girlfriend was understandably offended, but I told her to stay calm--I'd speak to a manager. After doing so, the security seemed to back off that day. But a week later, we returned, and not one--but two--security guards followed us the entire time. My girlfriend couldn't hold back her frustration and called it out. And honestly, I don't blame her. We are regular paying customers who spend hundreds of dollars here. At this point, security should know who we are--and more importantly, know that we have never given them any reason to be suspicious. While I'm not saying going off is always the right approach, she wasn't wrong either. To be sure this wasn't a one-off situation, I visited the store several more times over the month, on my own, just to test the waters. And each time, the profiling continued. But today crossed every line. I picked out 8 items and walked over to the shoe area. An employee approached me and offered to start a fitting room--something they've never done before, which already felt off. Still, I agreed. I picked a pair of sneakers, took them to the register, and asked the cashier to hold them while I tried on clothing. That's when I realized security was actively tailing me again. I tried to ignore it and headed to the fitting room. I was in there maybe 5-10 minutes. Nothing worked for me, so I rehung the clothes and got ready to leave. When I opened the fitting room door, I caught the security guard looking under the door--yes, looking under my fitting room door. That was it. A complete violation of privacy. Absolutely disgusting behavior. I went straight to the manager and explained what had just happened. The manager brushed me off with, "I wasn't there, so I don't know what's going on." Are you kidding me? I'm telling you what's going on--and instead of showing concern, you dismiss it? I walked out immediately before I said something I'd regret. I'm reporting this business to the BBB and will also be speaking with my lawyer to see if legal action is possible. This wasn't just unprofessional--it was invasive, discriminatory, and completely unacceptable. Do yourself a favor and shop at 2nd Street, Crossroads, or Beacon's Closet instead. They know how to treat their customers with respect and dignity. Shame on you, Buffalo Exchange. read more

Love this location, the staff is so friendly and personable. Shoutout to Otis and SuMi who were so fun in the dressing room. It's a day off vibe that I crave. These two helped us sort through some hard decisions They had so many amazing things today, legit tried on like 43. read more

Staff is amazing and always fantastic, had Emmy ring me up today she and was a total delight and super helpful.

Great place to find affordable vintage pieces and new/unique items. I rarely leave empty handed. It's fun digging for treasures and I like that my wardrobe doesn't look like everyone else's. They have a good selection at this location of both men's and women's in a large variety of sizes and have many clean dressing rooms. More items are added to the racks everyday. Emmy was particularly helpful and friendly when I last stopped in. Thanks! read more

I'm obsessed with this Buffalo exchange location. A great selection and low prices. I was not expecting this in NY. Got an adorable Jean skort from Anthropologie here. Staff was kind and store was clean. read more

I cannot say enough wonderful things about the people who work here! I have sold here two times in bulk and everyone who has helped me has been nothing short of incredible. Will, Mahdi, Crossy, Bradford, Delaura and August are just some of the people who have made the process enjoyable and seemingly effortless. I wasn't too concerned with what I was being paid out, and was pleasantly surprised with what I walked away with each time. Whether you're buying or selling, this is the place to be! Update: Found the receipt with other people who helped me. Nediva and Bettina also helped and were super cool! read more

Buffalo Exchange calls itself a vintage clothing shop and a consignment store in one. It's very well organized and spacious. I saw a lot of new items on display. I haven't been in a vintage clothing store for a few years but this felt more like a Goodwill Store to me. I was smiled at by the employee behind the counter. I felt welcome to browse to my hearts content. Maybe I missed something but I was thinking I own items from the seventies and eighties that look more vintage than what I saw. The racks are very tidy and the merchandise is abundant. If you like to sort through lots of clothing and accessories for fun then this is your place. As for me I prefer to visit Housing Works or Goodwill. read more

Perspective of a buyer: despite being one of the bigger locations in the city, their inventory is so bad, especially for mid-sized and plus-sized customers! Basically everything over a size large was tagged as "new" -- I buy secondhand for environmental reasons, not so I can get this fast fashion polyester junk read more

If you're a seller, don't bother with Buffalo Exchange or the Cross Road because they are complete waste of your time. Either sell your stuff on craigslist, Facebook market, Amazon, eBay, or take them to the Salvation Army because you'll either save much more time or get much more returns out of your items. To be honest, Buffalo exchange is just a complete waste of time if you have a lot of clothing that you want to get rid of... and regardless of quality, they only purchase on an average of 0-3 items per person anyway. We arrived with 2 suitcases of clothing and most of them aren't even worn. They took 2 new Ralph Lauren pants valued over hundreds of dollars for $7ish per piece. read more

It was great! I found such a cute outfit there and the cashier was so nice. Her name is Emmy. Emmy was so attentive and she chatted us up she was great. 10/10 clothes and 10/10 cashiers. read more

Emmy was so helpful in holding my stuff and when I came back it was ready for me to purchase. She was so nice in my transaction!

In comparison to other locations, I have an appreciation of the shirts they have in stock. Compared to others, they have a good supply of distinct and unique items which increases the appeal. I was able to get a few shirts and my wife and my niece were able to get a few items as well. The staff is friendly and very helpful. read more

Bless them, but they really don't know how to buy and move merch. The understandable talk about buying what's in style, etc. is rhetoric. There was a beat-up Aeropostal polo that looked as it has been there for years and will be there for years to come. I appreciate this concept , but.... read more

I used to shop there quite often, and found 1-2 items reasonably priced. However, I found recently that one of the items I purchased there was a designer counterfeit item, which was priced high designer price so I didn't think it was fake. I didn't realize this until I saw exact same item with a different tag on and did research on the label. ChatGPT immediately noticed all wrong things on the brand label, logo, care tags etc. I believe selling counterfeit items is against the law but I don't think the store really check the authenticity of every item. Purchasing counterfeit items is not something I want to do, so I avoid this store since then. The other stores around them, 2nd street for example, they check authenticity, and they provide proper service if items look suspicious, so now I go there instead of this store. This is not a store to purchase designer items, and I should have known that before I made this mistake. read more

Why would assign a part timer on the buying area? He keeps on asking what the price etc and the training him is not even nice & cant say the exact price, As if she knows everything or she doesn't want to work. Organized dumpster of mostly fast fashion and soiled pieces with a high price tag. Way too many cheap Forever 21 repeats, dented cross body bags that look like Amazon quality for $30. Too many items with holes, stains, winkles and lint going for $18+ . Unless you live nearby and have time to kill, it's not worth coming here. read more

Buffalo Exchange - $18 for a reusable dish rag - Used, Vintage & Consignment Near Me - New York, New York

Nice clothes, but way too expensive for thrift. No matter what I saw. It was $20. Shirt, pants; shirt with a couple stains on it even. Again, great selection, and you could find some nice stuff here, but I'm just not gonna spend what I would on brand new clothes. The point of thrift is to help out the planet and reuse clothes that are old - they should be slightly discounted. Overall, ranges of prices are $17-40 from what I saw. Great clothes. Great selection. Lots of space inside. Not my kind of thrift but you could find nice stuff here. read more

don't sell your stuff here crossroads trading down the street will price your things higher and gives you a higher percentage payout!!!

This is the best vintage place I'd been to so far. It is a big store and lots of selection. Prices are reasonable. Kind of a rush during the visit and find the stay short , I need more time on next visit. I was happy with what I got - an ugly Christmas sweater. Grateful for the associate who pulled it out from their stock room since their holiday merchandise are not out yet. The extra star is for her effort in making client like me happy. Will I come back ? Of course, why not. Location is perfect. read more

Prices are pretty high here, a decent selection of T shirts. The tank top section for those hoping for more masc/thicker shoulder straps were abysmal. Staff were friendly and helpful. They have a ton of changing rooms! Often have multiple of the same shirt in different sizes which is nice. Not sure if I would return as I can get clothes for cheaper brand new from hollister. But I do love the open your mind skull t shirt I bought! read more

Buying - prices are higher than Crossroads. Quality and selection is ok. I'm XS and didn't find much. Selling - there's always a line but I came on a weekday afternoon so it wasn't as bad. There's chairs to wait in. Many people come to sell big loads here. They give 25% cash or 50% store credit. For anything the buyer did not take he told me it was "not on trend." He was nice at least. read more

Everyone I interacted with at Buffalo Exchange was lovely. The clothes and accessories were very well organized for such a busy and bustling spot. There were plenty of fitting rooms. I didn't have to wait at all during my visit and it was a Saturday late afternoon! The prices were exactly what I'd see back home in NC, but the selection was way better because of the diversity of options in NYC. I left with 2 tops and it was a fun experience! read more

This place stole two of most expensive pieces that they did not buy. They were missing when i got home, $800 worth of clothing. The buyer was not trained and did not know clothing. I brought in a lot of clothing and it would be easy to slip something off the counter when I was not looking. She especially liked the wedding shirt, which she said was 'culturally insensitive', an they could not accept it. it was a hand embroidered men's wedding shirt from Ghana. I really hate to accuse anyone of anything, but i have double-checked to make sure I did not misplace these items. Be super careful and pay very close attention should you have nice things. Do not trust that you will get a knowledgeable and fair person to look at your things. read more

This is my 3rd time at this location. I much prefer to east village location as I feel their selection is much trendier and hip. I'm here today to sell and it was an okay experience. This place is only a little more than 1 block from Crossroads Trading Co and that's where you'll find the gems at! Love it there. The items here are more juvenile - more likely to find good Forever21 coats that's are clean and in style, just not as high of brands as Crossroads. Clean store, this is a huge location, nice employees :) read more

Horrible service, rude and racist employees. I went to sell my items and most were already thrifted, but it was because I wasn't white they turned me away. I watched them take only items from white people and nothing from people of my shade or darker. The buyer that was looking at our items only put gloves on when touching my stuff and people of colored clothes. But when the seller was white the buyer had no gloves on?? This was honestly really humiliating as I came really far from home to be disrespected and treated the way that I was. I will never ever go to this location ever again. read more

Sellers.. don't waste your time. Came in with a few quality pieces, some new with tags, expecting them to take everything because most of their merchandise is cheap garbage from SHIEN, but they didn't take anything. The employee assisting me was rude and dismissive as well. Don't even bother, just donate your clothes or sell them somewhere else. read more

This Buffalo Exchange is huge. FOR BUYING - Since the store is so big, I have gotten a fair amount of stuff from here over the years from Madewell sweaters to lululemon leggings. There's a wide selection of things and I find it to be well organized. FOR SELLING - The line varies but on average I would say it takes about 30 minutes to sell here. There are a bunch of chairs in the right side corner when you walk in and that's because those chairs can get filled from people selling! If you've never sold before, my best tip is to think ahead in terms of summer (e.g. they like to buy for spring in winter). Overall, I come here a lot because it's conveniently located and boasts such a huge collection of items! read more

I love the Buffalo Exchange in my town, so when I saw it here I decided to give it a whirl. There are lots of inclusive sizing options, which I always appreciate. Some other stores I've been to completely overlook plus sizes. The selection is pretty nice, prices aren't steals but certainly reasonable for New York. Nothing I bought was more than $22. I ended up picking up a dress shirt, a casual date night type shirt and a makeup bag. The biggest issue I had was the temperature inside. Idk if someone thought AC was optional in 90-degree heat or if it's broken, but holy crap the thick, hot air smacked me in the face as soon as I walked in. And the BO from a few trying to shop, and understandably so. I was in a bit of a rush, so I only spent 10 minutes in there anyway. If it would've been much longer, I might've been in fear of passing out. Those workers must be saints to deal with that. So yeah, definitely knocked off a star for the wild no AC or air circulation situation. Please get it fixed, no one should have to go through that. I left the store and was relieved that it was cooler outside, on a pretty hot And humid day, no less. read more
