I don't know what I was expecting but was blown away when I walked in and the waiting area had gorgeous big sofa's with stylish mirrors above, the check in desk has a few items for sale including brow pencils and the shelves at the back are full of brow make up, fake tan products and different waxes. I went through to the service room and it is very comfortable and well decorated. There was a cool print of James Dean on the wall. I was diggin' the vibes. I filled in a form as a new customer which asked about redness or breakouts etc. Because of the answers I gave she chose a tea tree wax which prevents breakouts after waxing. She mentioned she stocks like 20 types of waxes as she is a waxing specialist. Not just for her recommendations but also some people have a favourite brand so she likes to stock all the best products. After a pain free wax and brow tint we had a good old chat before I left. She recommended products (in conversation not in a pushy way) on how to achieve certain looks, perfect the arch and be able to keep the look up at home. I was so impressed and the price was completely reasonable too. I don't even mind driving to Sherwood Park for the service. For a brow wax it totally exceeded my expectations!

It is a selective brand that isn't in many salons. The only improvement I could suggest would be more comfortable chairs. They had little pillows which did help but still weren't that comfy. That I should not have been upset yesterday because my hair got butchered by Madison. Maybe the manager is right I should have been thankful for the resources I won't expend in that I can use less shampoo and conditioner. With the Covid outbreak almost 4 years ago, I had my nails taken off and left them off until yesterday. I started to really miss them but then had to find a new place. I tried googling Beauty Nails to find them again in the Park but nothing came up. When I found Beauty Hour in the Park, I was thinking I would give this place that I never heard of a chance but after reading the "about" on their website I was surprised and so happy to realize this was formally Beauty Nails and Dian was still the owner! I immediately made an appointment. Dian is a beautiful, sophisticated true lady who knows the nail industry like no other. Her friendliness, warmth and joyous personality is infectious. I was so happy to see her when I went for my appointment yesterday. So lovely to see you again Dian . Zita, the pretty and talented technician who I had, did a superb job on my nails. Even for weeks to come. I say this because it's how she makes me feel everytime. It's been about a year and a half now with countless hours in the chair while she's behind it. I look for a change almost everytime I go see her but what doesn't change and will not is my hair dresser Kristen. With her knowledge, expertise and passion for hair, I know I'm in the best of hands. Only takes one visit and you'll see what I mean! Example. Many people ask me, 'how often do you get your hair done?' and 'do you touch it up yourself?'. This particular dye job was just before my hair dresser gave birth. We knew I wouldn't be seeing her for a few months therefore went with one colour so I could touch it up easily (if I needed to). What you see is a 3.5month progression using salon shampoo and conditioner whilst rinsing in cold water. Last few weeks using purple conditioner to avoid going brassy on my ends. I did NOT 'touch it up' in any fashion. When Kristen did my hair the root was more saturated than the ends, hence the fade. With every cold water shower my hair would fade, as the story goes. For those of you who want fun vibrant colors my suggestion go for a more rich look initially, invest in salon products and rise in cold water. Obviously results are different for everyone but over the years and many colors later, the fade out is enviable so you might as well embrace it. It's easy to embrace is when you've discovered the most important piece in the equation, a hairdresser like Kristen . Who possesses the skill and knowledge to lay an amazing foundation. She cut my sides and bangs VERY short, nothing like what I SHOWED her I wanted. I told her I wanted something feminine, hair on the sides I could sweep forward, and even showed her a past photo of when my bangs had been butchered (I told her I feel anxious every time I come to the salon because of awful cuts I've received like it) and she went ahead and cut them too short anyway saying that we would start with that and could always cut them shorter if I wanted. I showed her photos of what I thought was feminine vs young and funky. I did NOT get feminine. (I'm also 50!) I asked that my highlights not be spikey, I showed her a photo with more chunks, but was given spikey - and a copper colour, not the auburn I asked for. I returned a few days later to ask her to shave the sides and back one shorter so there was contrast between the top and sides. I felt the need to talk to her about how upset I was. While talking I told her that I was very disappointed with my cut and that it wasn't what I asked for. She agreed with me that 1) my head was an odd shape now with this cut 2) that it was NOT going to grow out nicely (another thing I told her was important to me and after two weeks it is already sprouting up in odd spots), 3) to keep my cowlick in mind (big hole there now that she agreed was hard to deal with) and 4) I should probably see a barber next time instead of going to a salon because they would be more qualified with a cut like this. With tip (that I absolutely regret paying) I paid over $250 for this. She seemed nervous during the cut, she didn't show me the sides or back with a mirror so I didn't realize how bad it was until I got home, and when you go to pay and the guy at the counter can't muster up a "you look great!" (despite what he thinks), it makes you feel awful. Needless to say, I will NOT be returning. She couldn't even offer the slightest apology.

Well I'm on visit number three, two visits for back, and one for a chest/ab…read more My back had very fine dark hair, that was almost invisible from 6 feet away, and my chest has darker and courser hair, not as bad as some guys but enough that I didn't like it. I have been waxing for over 15 years, and I don't find it all that painful, but the results are very short lived, after 2-3 days the hair was visible again. After the first laser treatment on my back, the skin was very slightly pink, and was gone by the next morning. Afters six weeks there was so little hair I continplated not not going back because there really wasn't much for signs of hair at all. The results where so good on my back I decided to go ahead have my chest/abs done today, if the results are any where near what I have had on my back it will be money well spent. The staff is very professional, and plesent to talk too, while they worked on me. As other people have stated, it really is almost painless, I would describe the sensation similar to a very very mild electro static shock. I did notice the sensation did seem to be a little more noticeable on the courser chest hair then on the finer back hairs, but no where near what waxing is. The only things I would like to see this company do different is get more machines, as they are very busy and booking a time is very limited. And secondly get a freeking bottle warmer, for the ultrasound gel.
