Got a great deal on a luxury rental for spring break. Didn't expect to get exactly the car listed online, wondered what "or similar" could mean. Got exactly the sample car that was listed, they had it set aside waiting for me. Fast break line took less than 5 minutes to sign and grab the keys. Car wasn't especially clean, but wasn't so disgusting that I couldn't deal with it. If I had paid full price for the luxury rental I'd have been more upset. Had 1050 miles to use on my rental and realized the next morning they had written the starting odometer down wrong and I could be on the hook for 1,200 miles at .75/mile... yikes! Called the customer service number on the agreement and got right through to a human who knew what they were doing, even on a Sunday. They fixed this right up when I returned to the airport and I didn't have to wait in line. After returning the rental I got charged for fuel by mistake. This was also super easy to fix. If you're going to rent from here, you MUST MUST MUST have their "fast break" option (free you sign up online and can add it to your reservation after the fact). The line inside was 10 times longer than any other rental counter! This would have been a 5 star rating if the car had been cleaner and I wouldn't have had to deal with the mileage/fuel issues. Don't rent from here. They snuck in insurance even though we verbally declined and they confirmed that we declined. Then snuck it in anyways. We got in late, had a toddler, and didn't think to check before we signed. We normally do but it was our first time traveling with our toddler on a flight and we were exhausted by then. 2 hours extension rate is $110. My daily rate is $110, total of $650. Just rent from other rental cars company. It was $110 per a day, $650 for 6 days. My drop of time was 7:45am, I called to asked for an extension of 9:45am, the cost was $110. In my opinion that is very unreasonable. Upon arriving at the rental office, they did not have any vehicles in the description of which I reserved. The fleet of those vehicles was to be delivered from the airport in an undisclosed timeline. They offered an upgrade and wouldn't comp the upgrade cost. When calling customer service, they claimed that a new work order had been created and they could not refund any of the cost. They overbooked at the Cape Canaveral location, which left 100 of us in line for hours and not enough cars. After standing in line and risking missing our park tickets for the day, we were forced to cancel our reservation and we took an uber instead. they also had minimal staff, which made the long line and wait even more extreme. and the 3 staff there had no sense of urgency, even leaving and taking breaks while 100 people were in line and scattered around the parking lot. I rent a lot of cars and usually it's budget or hertz and from now it will be hertz. The attitude of the staff is unforgivable , the reservation system does t work online and the willingness to help and make your experience a pleasant one doesn't exist. I rented and reserved and paid for a car at a rate of 42 dollars a day. I called the day before to confirm cause I have been in the location when people with reservations have shown up and not gotten a car . I got there my pick up day about 25 minutes early and was told " sorry we are out of that car size you can take a larger car but there is a price difference" I asked if I reserved a car size how could you be out of it, and if you are out of it, how am I being forced to pay a higher price for a car that I did not reserve because you're out of the car I reserved. I was told the reservation online doesn't always know what cars are at. What location and sometimes cars get pulled from location to location, or sometimes they just don't have the amount of cars in the reservation system doesn't know to stop taking reservations for that size car. Needless to say it was 30 to 45 minutes before 5 PM and there was no other car rental place nearby that I could reserve a car at because I Uber there. So I was forced to pay twice as much as my original reservation for the car. The customer service number does not care or when you get somebody on the phone it takes 40 12:55 hour. The manager of the location doesn't care because he's more entranced with what music is playing and making sure he can walk out of the door at 5 o'clock or whatever the hour is they close that particular day.all in all, I will not be returning to budget and even as bad as hurts sometimes at least hurts does not make you pay for their mistakes financially read more

Beware of the scam and hidden charges! I would not book with Budget ever again! They were very shady! I booked the car for a week through Costco for $400 with taxes and everything. I got a final bill through budget for $700+ because there was a bunch of hidden charges. I specially verbally declined a lot of they were trying to add to my rental. Some how I manage to get charged everything. Please make sure you read what you sign because they just rush you to sign the contact and even when you decline things they add it to your invoice. Just don't is my best advise! To say the car we received was a total POS would be an understatement. My husband wanted "something fun" for a trip we took in May and decided to rent a Camaro SS or similar from here. The price was extremely cheap compared to other company's after receiving the car we now know why! Picking the car up was easy as we proceeded directly to the garage. The gentleman was helpful and directed us over to a mustang GT which is comparable to the Camaro. The car's exterior was filthy! There was something sticky all over the roof on the passages side. Since it was late we took the car and went to our hotel. In the way to th hotel we noticed the car was very loud and I dont mean because it's a "muscle car" (joking my daily driver is a jeep srt for any car person reading this). The next morning we were going to visit a friend and realized there was something wrong with the brakes and the passenger front wheel. I called the "direct" number to Budget at the Orlando airport and was passed around and on hold for so long that we arrived at the airport faster than resolving anything over the phone. The employees in the garage explained the car we received was "older" because they didn't have many cars left. They offered to get a different car but we just wanted out. I had already made a reservation with Alamo (who we normally rent with). We had to go inside the airport to request a refund with a manger who issued the refund no questions asked. We are very happy the refund was issued however this could have been a bigger hassle for someone else as the money is not instantly returned. It took a few days but that had no effect on us. If you need to rent a car at the airport in Ft Lauderdale, do not, don't think of using Budget. This was the only agency with , what turned out to be a 1 hour line. Upon finally getting to the counter, I asked the agent why there wasn't more staff to handle the number of reservations. The reply was we ask for more help every day and management ignores our requests. Once I finished getting checked in, I was told that I should have a car in 5 minutes. 30 minutes later I finally left the terminal. Worst experience ever. This sales associate was either incompetent or the company needs to improve their processes regarding problem solving. To start it off we waiting in line for over 35 minutes because they only had one employee working. May I mention none of the other car rental companies had any lines at all. Finally its our turn to get helped and pickup our car! Or so we thought... Joke was on us. The reservation was under my wife's name that she had recently changed to my last name. She had a matching state ID and credit card but since the name did not match the reservation we were told they couldn't give us the car. We politely told them that she had recently changed her name and had pre-paid the car with our credit card points, and asked if she could change the reservation to her name matching the ID and credit card she currently has. The budget associate informed us she could not change the name since it was pre paid. We thought this was atrocious given the circumstance, and the fact we had the temporary state ID in hand. She said we have to call the company we booked the reservation through. It was late and the company was not open so that wasn't an option. Finally our of frustration we said we would pay for a new car rental under my name and figure it out later. Turns out they over booked and they didn't have any cars available in the first place. The car that we pre paid wasn't even available. Do not put your trust in budget car rental when you are going on vacation or traveling for any reason. Mike Rose at Denver International Airport is amazing he over heard my cousin and I talking about how we were going to miss our uncles funeral because our flight was delayed. Then we had to wait in a long line at the rental car office. He pulled us out of the line and immediately pulled up our reservation gave us directions where to pick up the car and we were on our way. We did miss the beginning of the funeral but were able to pay our love and respects. Thank you Mike Rose for being proactive and aware of your customers needs . We used Budget for the first and last time for a twenty four hour trip to Orlando. Unfortunately, the car, if you want to call it that was more of an unwashed sardine can. We checked it out early, was charged an "early check out fee" and brought it back early, with a 3/4 of a tank of fuel rather than the required full tank. This meant a thirty dollar charge. Next time, we'll skip Budget entirely and opt for something comfortable, clean, and washed, without the hefty fees. read more

You have to wait almost an hour and half in line then it took another half hour to get all the paper work done because they try to sell rental insurance even you told her so many times you have cover from your own car insurance. read more

Never again! The absolute worst customer service experience EVER!! Price I was quoted (which included taxes) was a lie and ended up being $100 more! The car was a piece of crap! As soon as I started the vehicle a caution light came on indicating that the driver side brake light was out. It was late and I was traveling with an infant so I flagged down one of the reps so she could check it out and she said "it looks fine to me..." so why is the caution light on? Furthermore, I'm no mechanic but it sounds as if the engine fan is on the verge of going out. This is supposed to be a new model vehicle, why does it sound like a hooptie? No walk through was done to address cosmetic issues either. I spent 1 1/2 additional hours in the airport dealing with rude, unprofessional Budget employees who are more concerned about adding on extras or getting you to agree on a larger car. Yes, it took a bit to get my car, but it's a small franchise in a hotel, not an airport with high volume. The didn't try to sell me anything extra and even confirmed that the total matched my email confirmation before they ran my card. The big highlight was someone coming out to the car with me, doing the walk around, and annotating any damage (just a couple of small scratches). You NEVER get that service at an airport anymore and at best can report it to a booth attendant on the way out. Bottom line: maybe I just caught them on a good day, but I didn't experience anything mentioned in previous reviews. read more

If I book an hour before picking up my desired car, it should be available. If it's not, why would this vehicle show available online? Don't use Budget, bottom line. We had a prepaid reservation processed on line to pick up a car Friday, 3/10/17 in the Orlando airport and drop off, Sunday 3/19. The day before we were to fly out the news predicted snow fall for 12 hours ending just when our flight was ready to leave. I called JetBlue in lieu of the weather and they gladly changed our flights so we could fly out a day earlier to miss the pending snow, at no charge. Consequently, we needed to change the car reservation to pick up the car 1 day early on 3/9 instead of 3/10. Budget customer service was in Mexico, because I asked since I was having difficulty understanding the rep. He told me they could not accommodate us with a car a day early they did not have "one" car available. WHAT!!! I asked for state side assistance and got the same answer, not one car was available a day earlier. Bottom line they could not accommodate us and the best part is they charged us $50. because we cancelled with more than 24 hours notice. If it was just 24 hours notice it would have cost us $100. They could not accommodate us and it cost us money. We called Hertz and no problem to get a car for the time we needed it, just like that, with NO prepayment. Best part when we were in the Orlando airport at the rental car desk where they are all located, Budget's line for rentals was about 30 people deep and completely unorganized.
