I love renting from Budget. They are the only company I rent with, so they were my obvious choice when visiting Missoula. The Missoula airport has construction happening currently, so the rental car area is in a tent outside the terminal just follow the signs. The service at this location was fine, not as good as other locations. Once you get a key, they had 2-3 rows of Budget'a rental cars, so just look for you car's stall number. It isn't a big rental car area, but it also isn't a big airport. Returning the car, you just park in a Budget spot and write down the number of the spot. Atleast I think that is what you do they didn't give return instructions. read more

I recently rented from Budget car rental in Missoula Montana. My flight was changed by the airlines,so I was 3 hours early...I was also having some challenges with my credit card...I was on my way to see my grandson and needed to travel 2 hrs to get to him...with all my challenges, 2 very nice, professional employees worked close to an hour to make sure I got my car to go see my grandson. Jasmine and Nathan took there time with smiles, to make sure everything worked out for my car rental...it was so nice to see there are still great people out there at there jobs willing to take the time and effort to make everything easy and comfortable..of course I will always be using Budget car rental, I visit in Montana at least 5 times a year. read more

From August 2019... Extremely poorly run. Somehow at every other rental car place in the country they run their operations so that you pick up the car you reserve at the time you reserved it. Not at this place. I prepaid my car through Priceline. My flight was cancelled. After scrambling to rebook flights to make a wedding, I called to confirm my car pickup the following day and was told cheerfully that the reservation would be bumped up. I called again the morning of the flight and was told that what I had been told was incorrect and that my prepaid car had been given away and there was no guarantee that I would be able to pick up a car at the time I needed and had been told. When I arrived I was told that the car wouldn't be ready but they would try to get me one. I asked how long they were thinking and the front desk person told me an hour "would be short" and that they sometimes have people waiting for 4-5 hours during the summer. So I cancelled my reservation in an attempt to get a refund and make other arrangements. A car was actually ready in 15 minutes but the cancelled reservation meant they wouldn't give it to me. The end. Hopefully you have nothing to do but wait in the Missoula airport until your car is ready or for somebody to pick you up because that's what we're spending our time in Missoula doing. read more

We reserved 2 Suburbans three months early and when we got here they didn't have the them for us. They then tried to rent us three cars with no discount. They didn't try to fix the situation they just wanted us to rent three cars because they lied and said our cars would be ready in an hour and a half when they didn't even have any suburbans to rent us! If I could give no stars I would. I got a car from them on Christmas Day, the gal was nice took care of everything. She had me sign the paperwork for car damage without going out or letting me see car first...BIG mistake, I took in the paperwork showing damage to car and as she was the only person there and was waiting on someone else, she motioned me to hand her the slip, which I did without seeing her attaching it to my paperwork. Another mistake....long story short they are now claiming that I scratched the bumper and cracked front fender. Ummmm not true. I did call them on my way back to airport to tell them check engine light came on and some sensors I knew not what they were and was told that roadside assistance could be there in 2-3 hours!!! Umm not going to work as I would have missed my plane and they would not pay for different fight so I drove to the return area and informed the girl at counter....we never hit anything or had anyone hit us. So my advice is to not use them as they are not honest or have integrity. read more

We smashed our Spokane rented budget rental car into a poor deer on the 28 near Plains, literally in the middle of nowhere. The car was towed and we were basically stranded in an motel in plains. Budget customer service was not very helpful but did suggest calling the nearest budget which was an hour away in Missoula. The lady who answered the phone (Sarah) was extremely helpful and took care of it for me. She got a tow truck to bring me a replacement car all the way to Plains and then tow back the wrecked car. Where do I even begin to describe the nightmare the past 48 hours have been with Budget Rent-A-Car? I made a reservation through Southwest Airlines for a rental through Budget to be picked up at the Missoula airport. Once I landed after a delayed flight on United, I went to the counter to get my car. After hauling my skis and luggage out to the car only to find out that the trunk was broken and does not open. Also, I had paid extra to book a midsize car and was given this tiny Mitsubishi which they say is a midsize. A midsize car to me is something like a Nissan Murano or Ford Escape. Hauled everything back inside to the counter agent and the only car left was a minivan, but I was already running late to my meeting so I took it and left. After a long day of work I got to my hotel parked the car and went to sleep. Less than eight hours later I woke up and went out to the car and it did not start. The security guard at the hotel tried jumping the car and it was not a dead battery, the car would just not turn over. I called Budget's roadside assistance, after giving all my information to a lady and being on the phone with her for over 30 minutes the call disconnected and she never called back. I re-dialed the 1-800 number and was matched with a new agent. She could not see any of the prior information that I had given so I was back to ground zero. Keep in mind it's -10° outside and I'm literally freezing in my work clothes running late to a meeting that I flew cross country to come too. The lady on the phone could not find any information under my name, phone number, address, or reservation number. How is that? She asked me to find the Vin number on the car, after I told her that the windshield was covered in over an inch of ice and snow and I could not see it she informed me that she could not help me until it was found. Then she told me to check the inside door because Budget places a sticker on the door that has the Vin number. Someone at Budget put another sticker over half the Vin number so I could only read her half. She informed me again that they could not send help until I gave her the Vin number. How do they not know their own inventory of cars? Because I was frozen and could not wait any longer I ordered an Uber to come pick me up at my own personal expense. When the Uber got there I asked him to help me locate the Vin number and he was nice enough to chip away enough snow and ice in the freezing cold to be able to read the full Vin number to the agent. Then she proceeds to ask me what year, color, make, and model of the car is. Are you serious? It was a brown minivan, I have no idea what year it was made. Do you not have any of this information? How come it takes 20 minutes to get a car and they ask everything except my blood type, but you don't even know what kind of car you gave me. Freezing, I got in the Uber. As we pulled away she tells me she now needs the license plate to send a truck. Are you kidding me? We drove back around to the car and gave her the license plate number. She told me to leave the keys in the car, unlocked, which makes me so nervous with liability, but I just did what she said at this point. Over an hour on the phone trying to get this figured out while standing in the freezing cold and her only comment was "must be different than living in Arizona." I then asked if she had informed the local, Great Falls, Budget office of the incident and that I would need a car and she told me that it would make more sense for me just to deal with it because she would have to call 100 different numbers to get through. Even the Uber driver was laughing at that intelligence level of this agent. I finally arrived at the Great Falls location, on my own dime from Uber. The Great Falls agent had no idea what had gone on and tried to help me as much as possible. She was able to switch me into a car and get me on my way. I walked out to the car, which was filled with fast food wrappers, used toothpicks, random change, and an empty tank of gas. Are you freaking kidding me? I thought all cars going back to the airport had to be filled with gas. And do you not clean the cars before you give them to guests? I was already an hour and a half late for my meeting so I just said screw it and drove away. I went and filled up the car with gas myself, $50+ dollars later and I was finally on my way. This was hands-down one of the worst experiences I have ever dealt with, with any type of company, rental car or not. I rent cars almost every single week and I will never rent with Budget again! read more

Well I guess I should've read the reviews before renting a car at budget at the Missoula airport. I rent cars almost every week for business travel so I've had the experience of what the process should look like. These guys just really don't care and their service is horrible. The car that I wanted wasn't available but they told me if I came in at 8 o'clock in the morning that they would provide it. When I got there all I got was double talk and then eventually they told me that it would cost me in almost double after waiting 30 minutes. The desk clerk Christina was beyond rude. Rented a car here for 7 days for a vacation and was overcharged $57 from what I was charged online. Called and was given incredibly poor customer service by Anna, who claims to be an assistant manager but in reality can't do simple addition. Simply put, Budget is about as horrible as they come. We made a reservation for a car, when we got there, they had rented it out, they made me filled additional paperwork because the different vehicle required a charge on a credit card that my fiancee (who made the reservation) could do on hers. Then after getting the vehicle we DID NOT ask for, we were both charged over $300 for a day and half rental. Impossible to get anyone on the phone to help. Worst car rental experience ever. I scheduled my pick-up time at 10 am, but did not get my car until past noon. They made me wait at the airport running late for my business meeting. They said their inventory were sent for car wash, but I waited for that long. Called all the customer services lines I could find, but I received no apology or compensation for this horrible experience. Please avoid Budget at MSO at all costs. You don't want to risk waiting for 2 hours+ at the airport to pick up your car. read more

Returned a car and there was a $79.68 fuel service charge. I returned the car full (I topped off tank just prior to arriving at airport). They said I would have to have a bank statement or receipt to take charge off. I paid cash and no receipt. Suggested they go out to car turn it on and look at gauge. She couldn't do that. Said she'd turn in paperwork for adjustment but again they would need bank statement or receipt. They have a lot of hidden charges also. NEVER will I rent from them again. Please avoid renting from this budget rental car location at all costs. They are absolute crooks who use third party mobsters that make you feel like a criminal and threaten to ruin your credit if you don't pay up! To be clear when we picked up our car the person at the front desk let us know verbally that if there was a glass chip in the window no bigger than a dime, we wouldn't be penalized on our way out the door. Well as the fates would have it, we did get chip in our window (due to all the gravel roads and trucks in MT it's hard to avoid) and three months after returning the vehicle we were contacted by a third-party shakedown crew called PurCo who insisted we owed Budget $390 due to the chip that apparently "cracked" the window upon going through a carwash. They sent a written report but had no photos or images to back up their claims and refused to give me the contact details of anyone at Budget corporate to discuss this incident. I was able to find that person due to my own research Greg Pellet and Avis/ Budget Corporate. This guys was nice, but refused to help me in anyway saying that too much time had lapsed and I was forced to pay the claim directly to PurCo with a cashier's check. Oh and they still dinged my credit. I'm sorry but without legitimate photographic proof of any damage how can someone have the power to hurt your credit score. There must to be a special place in hell for these PurCo folks. I have never felt so horrible during any sort of transaction EVER. That being said I will never give Budget my business again. They have lost a reliable customer with an almost perfect credit score thanks to their horrible business practices. read more

At pickup time, I declined all additional fees and services. When dropping off the car, I was charged for 'RSN' which Rob, the desk clerk said was some sort of roadside assistance. I explained that I had declined all add-ons at pickup and asked for the fee to be refunded or reversed. He refused saying that 'I can't do anything'. I said 'You work for Budget'.
