I would like to preface by saying that I do not have a lot of experience with getting professional headshots. I found the pricing (I got the starving artist package), quality, and delivery very satisfactory. I got a couple of good headshots and that is what I was looking for. Erin was able to accommodate me with only one day's notice and turnaround the retouched photographs quite soon which I really appreciate. The setting was outdoors and I preferred that given the Covid situation. The lighting in all the photographs was very good as well. I would recommend taking with you a few photos (that you are trying to mimic pose/angle wise) so you are able to convey exactly the look you are going for. In the absence of a mirror (being outdoors), it would also be helpful to quickly go over the photos mid-session so any missed wardrobe quirks (in my case, a slightly awry collar) can be corrected. The resulting photos are not square which I wanted for my purpose but Erin said she can resize the retouched ones for free. I cannot take pictures, I think it might be genetic. A patient commented to me the other day that the photo on my badge looks nothing like me and that I should have another picture taken as soon as possible. I'm not an actor, so getting headshots has never been on my radar. However, as a member of the creative class, as so many of us in L.A. are, and several potential career boosters on the horizon (fingers crossed), I decided it was finally time to get some images more professional than the snapshots my friends take with their iPhones. Now, if you're like me, the word "budget" brings to mind other words like "cheap" or "chintzy" or "low quality," so I felt some trepidation going into this experience; made doubly bad by the fact that I can sometimes feel awkward in front of the camera. However, I am happy to report that my session with Erin was great! She was friendly and professional; and in this instance, "budget" meant just that--high-quality photos for someone without a lot of cash. So don't let the name scare you away. At the onset, Erin and I talked about what I wanted and what some of my concerns were (you know, body parts I don't like; angles that show my less-than-desirable side). Then she clicked merrily away, placing me in a variety of positions and postures to best capture my essence. If my energy ever started to flag or I felt stiff and uncomfortable, Erin would get me to do some kind of action to loosen me up again. Amazingly, I felt more or less at ease the whole time. Afterward, she got proofs to me very quickly and her retouches are beautiful without going overboard--in other words, I still look like me, only better. This is the only place I would recommend anyone to get head shots from in the LA area. Erin helped me to be extremely comfortable throughout my whole shoot. I'm horrible at taking pictures. I think I spent more time changing than it actually took for her to take around 200 shots of me. She's a director so I thought it was a plus to take note of her direction. I'm an actor so it is a huge relief to receive great quality head shots. My 100 dollar head shots looked better than the ones I paid 250 dollars for. I scheduled us to shoot at around 4:30 pm and we were done approximately around 5:10 pm. Before I could even get back home I received an email over my phone of the work she just shot of me. I got headshots a couple years ago and loved them so decided to get new ones because my look changed drastically. I sent a message about a year ago, got a response back saying they would get back to me about a time. Nothing. I figured they were busy and since I got no reply back I moved on. Recently I needed something quick for an agency so I reached out again but the same thing happened. A reply, they'll let me know a good time they were available, then nothing again.I got the impression maybe since I only needed one quick look (the cheaper package) they were making room for more expensive packages, idk. I had gotten myself incredibly nervous before I came to get my head shots taken with Erin. We had emailed back and forth, but I was so unsure about what I'd decided for clothing, hair, makeup, everything. The price couldn't possibly be better, but I really didn't want to waste my money. As soon as I got there though, she was so welcoming and really complimentary. We discussed what I wanted out of the shoot, and she really put me at ease. We shot around her neighborhood, and she obviously knew the area well. In the span of a couple blocks we went to several places with a lot of variety that suited what I was wearing and the feel that I wanted the shots to have. She even helped me do my hair in several different styles to add variety. She gave me suggestions on different things to try and let me know when I was doing something that worked. By the end, I was totally enjoying myself and knew we'd gotten some good shots. That same day she sent me a folder with ALL of my photos, I couldn't believe it. There were so many with so much variety, it was great. She clearly knew how to get my best angles and made my eyes really pop. I was able to pick a set that all felt like me but could be used to submit for different types of roles. She's already retouched a couple for me, and they look so much better than I'd expected.
