Driving from Ohio to Chicago, I had a flat tire along the way. Called roadside assistance, no one showed up. I changed the tire myself and proceeded to FWA Budget to swap the car for another one so I could continue on to Chicago. I was turned away, not once, but twice, being told there was nothing they could do. I had already driven 75 miles on the donut to get there. I am a woman, traveling alone in a dress and high heels, had to change the tire myself, and then turned away at the counter. I drove the car 200 miles back to Ohio on a donut. budget intentionally rented me a vehicle with limited mileage even after explaining I was going on a round trip 2500 mile trip to Texas from Indiana and are now charging me $1350 in just mileage because I went over the limit when I was under the impression of all rentals having unlimited mileage and the agent at the time of pickup did not reiterate what fees I would incur! They refused to exchange my vehicle from a truck after explaining I had a disability making to difficult to climb in and out forcing me to use a stool to do so. After "speaking" with Daniel through customer service who feels it's professional to yell at a customer who is just trying to understand why I'm being charged something I was unaware of he could only reiterate it was in the reservation. I tried to be patient with Daniel, who couldn't even answer my questions but all he could do was yell about the reservation. So I pushed it up to a supervisor named Jacob who admitted that the location decides what vehicles to limit miles on meaning they purposefully rented me a vehicle that had limited miles on it to drive all the way to Texas and back, without reiterating that it was limited when I signed for it. read more

I rented a Jeep for 9 days to wander around Colorado. The estimated total was $542.40. I was charged an additional $54.36 as "Amount Prepaid." OK, I figured. It will be refunded at the end. Not only was it NOT refunded, they charged me an additional $72.16 a week after I returned the car. I called and asked why and they said "It was not returned with a full tank of gas." Preposterous. I had driven 90 miles to get to the airport so I knew it was not full and I stopped by the Phillips 66 right there at the airport and paid a $0.50 per gallon to fill it up to the top. This was three blocks from the Budget return site. I knew it was full to the top. After bringing it to their attention they have agreed to refund both the overcharge of $54.36 and the overcharge of $72.16. We'll see if that happens. I asked how that happened and was told "Well, sometimes they don't see the cars until later." No doubt. When I arrived to return the car at 5:00AM on Sunday morning 9/15/19, there was a line of cars 30 deep and one person running around to check them in. "Leave the papers in the car and get on the shuttle" I was told. The car was not checked back in (I was told by confirmation email) until 9/20/19 - five days later!! Additionally the left rear tire had a slow leak and I had to add air four times that week and the car beeped at me numerous times each day to change the oil. Overall it was a good week of hiking but being overcharged more than $100 definitely will make me think twice before ever renting from Budget again. read more

I'm beyond disgusted with this company I don't even know where to start so my husband made a reservation yesterday for a rental and we noticed that the pickup location was super far from us so he called to have the pickup location closer to our area well the lady on the phone did the transfer and then turned around & said I'm sorry all rentals have been booked! Like what!? Why would you cancel out our rental reservation before checking to see if you had any in stock!? then she said well our system shows that we've car rentals available but we really don't! So he had to do another reservation again long story short he spent two hours on the phone with an different agent and he told him that he needed to pay in advance in order to Avoid paying a deposit so he did and the guy kept saying the cards isn't going through he took two hours to finalize the payment and he told my husband he wouldn't have absolutely no issues with picking up the car since he paid in advance well he gets there and they requested an additional 400.00!!! And then said he couldn't use my card since his name isn't on it! he said what if we sent a Id and a second form of identity they said no it has to have his name on the credit card and he asked them to refund the method of payment that was used to begin with and the dumb bee gonna say no she couldn't do that and to call the 1800 number about it. So my husband left to go to the car to tell me what was going on and he went out the wrong way and overheard the black and white lady talking about him in a negative way they were saying stuff like it's his fault he should've read the fine print "Policy" but when they saw him they tried to clean it up smh what gets me upset is all the time that was wasted today and not to mention the only reason why we wanted a rental was because our daughter leaves for college tomorrow which she didn't care at all because she was the so called manager and to make things so bad my husband spoke to her before he came over way to the airport to make sure it wouldn't be any issues. My family and I rented a 7 passenger van for the last weekend of July 2017. When we showed up to get the keys, we also needed to add additional drivers. I was told there would be a $100.00 hold on my account until the vehicle was returned (Pick up Wednesday around 6pm to drop off Monday 9:30 am). When I got online that night, before leaving town at 6am Thursday morning, there had been a $430.00 "Hold" on my account! While on the road traveling to our destination, I tried calling the local Fort Wayne office where we picked up from, I kept getting transferred to the 800 main office number. I was told that the only way to release the funds was to go to the local office. By this time, I was 300 - 400 miles away from home! REALLY??? I also was told the additional amount of the hold was for additional drivers and ins on the vehicle. BUT WE SPECIFICALLY ASKED JENNIFER AT THE LOCAL BUDGET ON COLISEUM WHAT THE HOLD AMOUNT WOULD BE AND SHE TOLD ALL OF US $100.00. SHE NEVER MENTIONED ANYTHING ABOUT HOLDING FUNDS FOR THE INS AND ADDTN'L DRIVERS AS WELL!!!!! I AM PISSED. I don't mind paying for services, but the services need to be disclosed up front. Especially when asked directly. Of course, 'THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO" while we were gone. Upon arriving back, Trevor charged us for 6 DAYS, NOT 5! And we didn't even receive the van clean, but vacuumed and cleaned it before we returned it to them!!! UNBELIEVABLE!!! Renter beware! We rented a car at the FW airport from Budget Rental Car in July. We had an early Saturday morning flight home and no one was on duty at the counter at 5:50am when we returned the car. We placed the car keys inside our rental papers, noted the mileage and the time we returned the car on the rental papers, and then stapled everything securely together. We dropped this packet into the after-hours return box at the rental counter inside the terminal. End of story? Nope.... I received a call from Budget main office the following Wednesday (FOUR DAYS LATER) asking when we would be returning the car. I explained what we did and where we parked the car and placed the keys. I was told it takes a few days for processing and we would receive our final bill by email. Three days later I received the bill and it shows we returned the car FIVE DAYS after we returned home! Long story short, we notified Visa and disputed the nearly $200 in additional charges. After more than three months, we won the dispute. Please be warned - - - do not rely on the lazy employees to check the key return box! We travel frequently and will never use Budget Rental again. read more

Seriously, where do I begin? The deal I got was great, no complaints. The car was clean and what we wanted, so no problems there. The employees working at the branch when we picked up the rental were another story. So, many weeks ahead of time we booked and paid for a 5 day rental online. I never paid close attention to whether the reservation was in my name or my husband's, but I never thought that would be an issue. Why would it matter, like at all? And if it does, shouldn't the website inform a customer that the name on the credit card that is necessary to rent a vehicle needs to match the name on the reservation? When we arrived at Budget, I went in to check-in thinking it would be easy. I already paid for it so should be, right? Well, the 2 employees behind the counter seemed to take pleasure in telling me that the name on the reservation needed to match the name on the necessary credit card. My husband was outside the building sitting with the kids in the RV. So, I told him that my husband and I only have 1 credit card we share, and I am an authorized signer on the card. Both workers said there was nothing they could do to help me, and gave me an 800 number for customer service. They were trying to send me away after I paid for 5 days, acting like that was reasonable! Like that made sense to them. I told them it seemed to me that the problem was theirs, and they needed to get their customer service on the phone. I was highly upset when I went back to my husband, and when he went inside the nonproductive individuals told him the same thing. So, he reluctantly called customer service, only to find out that the reservation was in his name the entire time!!!! As upset as I was, and they didn't even bother to check the reservation before they sent me away for it being under my name and not my husband's!!! This is bad business, and these 2 should be fired. Sorry Budget, your great deal wasn't worth the stress. Your unreasonable policy and your employee's overall rudeness, unwillingness to help, do their jobs, or resolve customer issues upset me a great deal, while I was on a well-deserved vacation, no less! Furthermore, rather than greeting me politely like a customer service rep should, the first thing this troglodyte said to me was "Wow, you're late." Really, did I have an interview? An appointment of some sort that I wasn't aware of? Did I book the rental but not pay for it yet? No. So, if I paid for it, what does it matter what time I picked it up? It doesn't. He was just being rude. And his rationalization for the unknown policy that turned out to be a nonissue? A lot of thefts lately! So, I also felt insulted that he was insinuating that I was a risk, or capable of GTA. It's been a couple of weeks since this happened, and I'm still upset. Horrible experience! Rented car here, smelled like mildew and appeared to have just been dropped off from previous renters, had bald tires and was unsafe, car broke down halfway through my vacation, luckily not when I was driving through New Mexico, cost me time and money because they only have certain facilities, seemed to help only to stop once their survey expired, this was my first rental experience, they were less money at first but cost me more in the long run, I tried to be reasonable with them and only wanted a small adjustment, they stated they would adjust a certain amount but ended up adjusting less than half of what was stated twice. Once was all said and done, they were unprofessional and didn't consider me paying for their service was important enough, I guess. I will never use this place because Enterprises would have been less cost and more convenient in the long run. The manager at the Fort Wayne International Airport facility was rude and didn't seem to care. He claimed to have worked with this company for 10 years but gave me incorrect information to resolve my experience. A business like this should understand when they are at fault, they should step up and help the best that they can. I hope people read this and consider total cost and experience before they pay them anything. Very sad for a company to treat their customers this way.
