All I wanted to do was go for a drive...stress, pressure at work, a sick parent...I just needed to get in my car and go. From Tucson to I don't know where I was going but my tantrum ended at Love's Truck stop as my 2017 Hyundai Tucson that I haven't even owned for a year yet was overheated. Coolant must have spewed and it was sizzling. It was 1AM and I'm a little ways from home. I paid for the extended warranty and after my husband driving to pick me up at 3am and getting home, after haggling with the warranty company about where the car should go...Buddyz was the place. It was out of the network and Buddyz doesn't like having to deal with those guys either. I can understand why. The paperwork alone is enough to kill the Redwoods. Day 1- dropoff. They took a look and thought best case, they could tighten some bolts and some belts and be on my way. When the coolant guisered out I got the call to come back and hear the news. Backtrack: When I first got there the older mechanic JOKED that the bolt tightening would be $1000! We all laughed. When I came back for the news: Cracked radiator the total was $900+ which ended up to be just under the $1k. I didn't laugh this time. They had to order the part, the part had to be delivered, they had to install it, make it run and see if anything else was wrong. HOPEFULLY $1K WAS ALL IT EOULD BE. They were nice guys. Not real chatty and probably saw me as a typical dumb driver but if they did they never let on. They were great and informative. I knew what they knew: so far it's the radiator and so far it's $900+. It would take a couple days for the part to arrive, if it didn't get there early enough on Friday they would have to install on Monday. I planned for Monday. In the mean time...who pays for this? I paid a $350 deposit to get the ball rolling. On my way home I started the warranty battle. It was easy enough on my end. No tears anyways. BUT, the warranty company wanted to talk to the mechanic. Cody at Buddyz did the talking. This guy is a true hero. No really! Remember Buddyz doesn't like dealing with these warranty contract guys but he did it. He was on the phone back and forth with them (not getting any extra pay for his time and taking time from his other customers). He and Collin from my warranty company worked in my favor and the repair ended up being mostly covered by my warranty! Heroes!!! When he told me over the phone I was shocked! I thought I'd have to pay it and fight the warranty co to get my money back. Cody did it for me. WOW! I waited the two days for the part to arrive. I didn't expect to hear anything from Buddyz on Friday but at 1pm I got the call. "It's ready!" . I was at work but I left ASAP, picked up my husband and FLEW to Buddyz which is just under an hour and a half away. We got there just after 4pm ona Friday. Everyone wants to get out early on Fridays but here I was listening as Cody printed, signed, had me sign, scanned, sent, called, verified and rewrite all the little itemized estimates that were required by the warranty company 3x! First it was the price was incorrect, then it needed to not have this line in it for audit purposes, then there was a CC fee they didn't want to pay. 3x Cody went through the process of changing what needed changing, signing and sending this estimate all so my warranty company would pay for my car fix. He didn't have to do that. But he did. Hero. After about a 1/2 hour it was done. The payment was given and now it was a matter of refund for the overpayment I made in the deposit. $122 that was to be refunded. "Why don't you keep it, Cody". A little look of surprise and a "Are you sure!?" "Absolutely. You saved me a ton of money and you spent all that time working it out so I didn't pay as much. Keep it." He made sure the coolant was topped off, closed the hood and we were on our way. As I pulled out of the garage area and hit the street I noticed some real "pickup" when I hit the gas. My car has a little turbo in it and I SWEAR I've never felt it run so well! Something had been happening to it the entire time I had it which would have been a year in February. Buddyz in Willcox is filled with heroes. To the older (sorry!) guy with jokes to Cody who, by the way, is also in the emergency dispatch crew in Willcox...see? Absolute heroes. If you're from TUCSON!...have your car towed to Buddyz in Willcox for fair, honest, reliable heroic work to be done! Thank you Cody and Buddyz. read more
