The last two trips were especially memorable because I had the opportunity to reconnect with a dear friend. The first time, she gave me the ultimate local tour. Jambalaya, Gumbo, po boys, alligator, beignets at more places than Cafe Du Monde and the French Market. I love to see the colorful painted houses, two storied homes with stairs and columns. Graveyards so eloquent with tall immortal houses some even taller with sweet faced angels with wings on top. We visited midweek so not much going on. Many shops closed at 5 pm yet in other parts of the city some were open even at 9 pm. The looming tales of vampires and voodoo, ghosts have the element of mystery and wonder. You can quell your curiosity by joining a tour.
