Upside: the building is really nice, there is a lot of parking, there are plenty of outlets in the qait Downside: it's pretty cold in there, there's no corner tv with the news on it like other government buildings, and there's no tacky paintings to give the waiting room life. But they did their job in a timely manner. That's all that really matters.

I had to stop in here to get some car registration stuff taken care of and I always go to Westwego because everything happens fast and I'm usually in and out within 15 minutes. This day was no exception- there were two people ahead of me at around noon and once I got to the counter my situation was handled and I was out there door. This is also where you come to get your driver's license renewed- it's probably the best place in the New Orleans area to go because there's never a line and you are taken care of with the quickness. Bonus points: the building is super easy to find, it has plenty of parking and it isn't just stuck in the middle of a neighborhood like the old one was.

The good thing about maintaining a proper speed is that you'll have time to enjoy the lovely view. Driving along the bayou always reminds me of my youth. For years we would head through Golden Meadow while in route to Grand Isle. The bakery that Jen L. remembers was also our favorite. We would stock up on macaroons and croissants and if we were well behaved, we get to eat one in the car. There was also a gas station owned by a family friend where we would always fill up. It too is gone, but what still remains are the memories. Where else but Louisiana can you drive down a highway directly next to a bayou? You get to see all of the shrimp boats, cane fields and many other stereotypical Louisiana icons. If you ever want a beautiful drive, head down to Golden Meadow. I promise you wont be disappointed.

With every visit I discover something new and have mastered the catchphrases. Yup, native speak is different here. "Where y'at?" and "Making groceries" ain't what you think. Oh, and we are all die hard Saints Fans. Who Dat for life! When I see the dome, I know I'm home. The Big Easy is known for its delectable cuisine, unique culture, and lively music scene. My love for the Crescent city runs deep. When I walk outside, I love hearing the sultry sounds of jazz everywhere. When you're in NOLA you never know what to expect. There is always something to celebrate, and I love the thrill of catching a second line parade. I even got to participate in a few. It's a city where a stranger will make you feel welcome with their smile and invite you into their home for a drink or a bite to eat. It's a city filled with excitement, and the sense of community is strong. The culture is embedded in the DNA of the city, and it's embedded in me. "Do you know what it means to miss New Orleans?" I do, the minute I step on the plane back to Los Angeles.

Graveyards so eloquent with tall immortal houses some even taller with sweet faced angels with wings on top. We visited midweek so not much going on. Many shops closed at 5 pm yet in other parts of the city some were open even at 9 pm. The looming tales of vampires and voodoo, ghosts have the element of mystery and wonder. You can quell your curiosity by joining a tour.

It includes the public library, a fruit & veggie stand, a gazebo, restaurants and shops (not a ton), trails and, of course, the Abita Brewery & Restaurant. Of all the Northshore towns, Abita may be my favorite since it still retains a real small town feel.
