Been training with the teachers here for years now. They are knowledgeable, passionate about self-defense, supportive, and just good people! The space is clean, people are friendly, and they train hard! I am about to test for my Krav Maga black belt and I owe much of it to the owners at Buckeye Self Defense! read more

Scott Morrison and the Buckeye Self Defense team are phenomenal. Scott is a dangerous guy with a lot a experience, great emphasis on practicality, and is passionate about being an instructor who is always learning. Helpful advice on situational awareness, and a desire to make his community safer make his FREE, monthly women's self defense clinic (seriously, for free, once a month. It's crazy) an excellent resource that I brought my own mother! Krav Maga curriculum is excellent and practical, and Kembatives program is nasty and will make you more dangerous on the street. Very excited to continue learning at this great facility. Dynamic with lots of potential for growth, improving and growing all the time, from additional facilities (cardio room, kids' room.) to being extremely member-focused (they regularly poll us and ask us if they could offer more of what we are looking for) Highly Recommend! read more

Specialties

We are central Ohio's Self Defense Headquarters, with co-ed group classes featuring the established curriculum of the U.S. Krav Maga Association. We have adult classes for ages 12 and up five days a week, with the main goal of teaching our community how to stay safe. We have a strong Kid's Krav program for ages 7 to 11, and are proud to host our Women's Self Defense workshops every month. We also have group workshops for organizations including Girl Scouts, church groups, Corporate Team Building events, and community safety teams. Conveniently located in Gahanna between New Albany and Reynoldsburg.

History

Established in 2018.

Offering the very best Self Defense training in central Ohio. We are an affiliate of the United States Krav Maga Association, which started right here in Gahanna about 15 years ago. From those first three central Ohio gyms, it's grown to 56 affiliates across the country. Buckeye Self Defense is the USKMA's Midwest Training Center, holding group training and upper level testing for other affiliates in the area.

Meet the Business Owner: Jack G.

Jack is a 2nd Degree Black Belt with the US Krav Maga Association. He started his martial arts journey in 1982 at the OSU Shotokan Karate Club, trained at the International Martial Arts Academy of Columbus for several years, then found Krav Maga about 15 years ago. His love of teaching shows in every one of the dynamic classes at Buckeye Self Defense. There is also a dedicated and enthusiastic team of Instructors there who will help you in your own self-defense growth! Stop by and see why we are the premier self defense gym in central Ohio.
