When I first signed up for a class at 3Minute Fitness, I did not know what to expect. You walk in…read moreand it is a smaller little workout place with grass turf in the middle. I am not going to lie, I felt completely out of place during my first class. Everyone seemed to know what they are doing at each station and the different terminology used. The extremely nice thing is that the instructors go over each station, demonstrate, and tell you how long you are to do things. There are 10 stations and you are at each station for 3 minutes each. There is typically two types of workouts at one station. They can switch every 30 seconds, 2 minutes and 1 minute, or whatever the instructors decide that day. This makes the workout seem much faster! The stations pretty much stay the same: The what I call "fancier" treadmill, kettle bells, rower, Jacob's ladder, TRX, cycling, weights, body weight exercises, and the Dog Sled/ropes. I wish I knew more of the actual terminology of the equipment. It seems to be a rotations of cardio and then weights. Some exercises you do using body weights, such as push ups or burpees. Even though it's only 3 minutes at each station, it is a tough workout and the instructors will absolutely push you! You do get a break in between each station and this time can be used to wipe down the station you were just at. You will warm up and cool down with the instructor and will have music to help motivate you. I typically go during the weekends because those are full body workout days. I have gotten a chance to meet Shannon, Mackenzie, Diana, and Ulli. They all have such a different personality to them which I appreciate. I love Ulli's energy and Diana is hilarious! I would highly suggest 3MF if you want a killer workout! :)

I heard about 3Minute Fitness New Albany from Yelp Elite Lindsay G and her Find Where You Fit…read moregroup. The event she put on there was great. Why? I got out of my comfort zone for 50 minutes and experienced heart pounding workouts. As well as made modifications when I needed to. Just like the previous review, I had tried out all the gyms like Orangetheory, Lifetime Fitness, etc and none really did the job I was looking to get out of a real workout. Fast forward to yesterday, I step foot into 3Minute Fitness see, a bunch of stations and realize, dam I'm going to have my ass kicked here seeing all this equipment. It was certainly the case, 10 stations were put together and each station was 3 minutes hence the name of the place. They definitely kicked this girls butt yesterday! When you get to that point where it's super uncomfortable and you can't go anymore, that's when you know you've had a real workout. I had that here last night. I started on the rowing machine then did body lunges, followed by the hardest thing there the Jacob's ladder which moves only when you do and you have to be strapped to it. From there I moved onto the TRX straps, followed by the bike, weights, ball weights, Rogue equipment you push down the field and back, treadmill controlled by your movement alone and finally kettle bell's. Whew, that was a mother load of a workout! I probably missed a few little things but as you can tell I'm still sore from yesterday as I type this review! 3Minute Fitness, you definitely impressed this girl with your fitness classes! I love when I get the best workout that not only makes me feel better, but changes my whole day from a bad day to the best day of my life from sweating and working as hard as I knew I did!

For a place that is supposed to be family friendly, this place is not. We joined so that our…read more4-year-old triplets could do swim lessons there and to use the pool to help strengthen their abilities in the water. When signing them up for lessons, I was unable to get all three of them in to one class so I have 2 on Tuesdays and 1 on Thursday. A couple of weeks ago, a lady who identified herself as the head lifeguard told the lifeguard closest to us to tell us that my son (who was waiting his turn to practice floating) wasn't able to be in the water because I was not holding him. I explained that my dad and my husband were working with my other two and I was sitting on the bleachers (typically I do get in the pool but was not feeling great that day) but could stand on the stairs with him. She said, "I'm so sorry in advance but she is coming over to talk to you." She said that I needed to be with my son in the pool (my husband and my dad were standing at the bottom of the steps at this point) - to clarify, each "step" is about 9 ft by 2.5 ft with railings that separate the 3 different sections, so they were not blocking anyone's way in or out at all. I also explained that our entire purpose in being there was to work on their skills since they are new swimmers - but she said that any time they are in the pool they need to be HELD and are not allowed to be on the stairs at all. I asked her if we were able to have them sit on the side of the pool (like they do while they are waiting for their turn in swim lessons) and was told no. I then asked her what we are supposed when it just my husband and me and we have three kids? She said that we would just not be able to have all 3 of them in the pool with us at one time or they had to wear puddle jumpers the whole time. We do not use puddle jumpers or flotation devices with them because we do not want them to gain that false sense of security when in the water and IF it is the two of us, one of us will stay with the two who aren't practicing. I explained this and also tried to explain again that we are there solely to work on their awareness around water and to teach them to swim/float. At this point, we were feeling very targeted because there every time we have been there, there are always people who are playing/waiting on the steps. The next time we went back for our Thursday kid's lesson, my dad got in the pool with 2 out of 3 kids (my husband was changing in the locker room) and my lesson kiddo went in a few steps because he just wanted to show us how he could hold his breath under water. Within a few seconds, a male walked over to us and told us that he couldn't be on the steps. Again, feeling pretty targeted since we had only been there for a few seconds. He said that my kids weren't allowed to be on the stairs because they could walk off the bottom step and cause an event where they needed to be rescued. I explained to him that my kid has a lesson and he just walked in for a second to get wet and we were going to be on our way to the lesson as soon as my husband was out of the locker room. Since he was still standing there mansplaining to me about water safety, I asked him point blank, "So, my husband and I are two people who happen to have three kids... you are telling me that we are not allowed to be at this pool unless we are holding them the entire time?" and he said that is correct and then proceeded to tell me that he is a twin so his mom had to go through this and how because of this he understands my frustration? My husband was there now so I told him ok, I get it, we joined so that we could practice water skills but since you're telling me that with our family situation, that is not possible. In any case, I need to get my son to his lesson now and walked him down. Apparently after that, he decided to continue with my husband. Two minutes later, I see my dad, my husband, and my two other children walking toward us. He told my husband that they HAVE TO put my kids in puddle jumpers and made them all get out of the pool to walk to get them. I intervened at that point and told him that we are NOT going to be using flotation devices and that is NOT what he told me -- my husband and my dad each have a kid and therefore they are not breaking any rules. He said, "well, we strongly advise they have these on". I told him no, absolutely not ONLY purpose here is to teach them to swim -- we have a pool at home that they play in -- this one is for learning. I told my husband and my dad to go ahead and take the other two back so they could work on their skills and that if he had anything else to say to me, he could wait until after my son's lesson. I realize this is a very long review but we joined the Y with the understand that it was a great place for families and that has not been our experience at all. It also isn't enforced across the board which is another big reason for the negative review.

Some things I love…read moreabout Jazzercise Gahanna that is hard to find in other workouts/places: -It's impossible to get bored with your workout because the music is continually refreshed with new routines. The music is current and the same as what you hear on the radio. -Each class is a FULL body workout. There is booty shaking dancing fun along with work with weights and/or bands. You'll find both physical AND mental benefits from each class! -You can take a Jazzercise class at any fitness level. I have taken classes before kids, during pregnancy and after kids. The instructors offer directions and move accommodations for any and all fitness levels. -There are SO many classes available throughout the week! I am always able to find a class that fits my schedule, even if it is just squeezing in a 30 minute class at lunch. -Nearly all of their classes are live streamed so I don't even have to leave my house to take a class. -The community of this studio sets it apart for me. I have always felt at home whether I am live streaming a class or taking the class in person. This is a studio that truly cares. There is NO judgment, just support for their members and guests. -The instructors here are phenomenal. The best of the best. Their classes are easy to follow, challenging AND fun! I felt a little déjà vu walking into the studio, similar to the first time I tried yoga. It was a feeling of embarrassment combined with the fear of actually dying on dance floor. Filling out waiver forms beforehand did not help the situation. Well it turns out there was nothing to be afraid of. We were the only ones who showed up (cold Sunday), so it turned out to be a private lesson of sorts. The class was fun and engaging. The 60 minute session flew by quickly. Jazzercise seems to be a fusion of jazz dance, resistance training, Pilates, yoga and kickboxing. There was a lot of variety in the routine and I felt like all my major muscle groups were worked on. The non-stop music also helps you get into the routine. Even with two left feet, I was able to follow along (I think?) and the routines were not too complicated. It's also nice because you can sit out for a song or do fewer reps if necessary. Being with a group of friends/coworkers helped ease my transition into Jazzercise. To be honest, even with strangers, I think you would be hard-pressed to feel too self-conscious since you are too busy following the routine. Sure, Jazzercise may not be the manliest way to burn calories, but it's a damn good workout. You're pretty much constantly moving for 60 minutes. I am pretty sure i'll be sore in the morning. This Jazzercise center seems on the smaller side, but it's cozy and Jenna is awesome.
