The owners have over 10,000 molds to make items out of clay--anything ranging from light switch covers to mugs to Christmas decorations to flower pots. You select whatever you want to paint, then pay for the item as well as a minimal $3 studio fee if you want to stay and use their paint. In the fall, she did glass pumpkins and this time it was heart-shaped paperweights for Mother's Day. Spots are limited, so hop to it and register online to guarantee a spot. It was fun to watch others take their turn and see passersby stop to "ooh" and "aah". Cost was $30 - if I'm going to spend money on a gift, why not make it custom and handmade? My creation turned out beautifully - I made it on a Saturday and picked it up at CCA on a Tuesday. I overheard her say she also offers classes at her studio on the west side - could be worth looking into if interested!

This was my very first time doing this, and instructor Tracee Ellis was absolutely OUTSTANDING!!!! I'm so glad my daughter in law gifted me this experience as a Christmas gift last year. The classes fill up super quick, but man, was this truly worth the wait!!!! Thank you, Yellow Door Ceramic Studio and Tracee Ellis, for an incredible way to end the work week and begin the weekend. #potteryrocks

This artist's work has danced into my family's daily life. Be it our slowly procured collection of hand crafted bowls that are as unique and beautiful as snowflakes and yet durable enough to take the daily use my children put it through. If you're a person that maybe prefers a handle on their bowls Dancing Pottery also makes these things called mugs. I have mugs that have survived a teenagers temper tantrum of having to hand wash the dishes. It's easy to say that the quality is on par with Corning Ware.Yet it is no light utterance to compare the esthetic of Rookwood, Pewabic, or Van Briggle. The pride, love, and regard that Dancing Pottery puts into every piece make my cornflakes seem rather insignificant.
