Great food, great service! Alexander was an exceptional server and met all of our needs!!

We came to Buca di Beppo in Thousand Oaks on a Wednesday evening around 5pm with a party of 20 to gather in memory of my aunt. The staff was kind enough to set us up in a private back room where we could set up a projector and share a slideshow during dinner. It was a thoughtful accommodation that allowed our family to spend some meaningful time together. We had just ONE server taking care of our entire group, and he was working HARD! He did a great job making sure everyone had what they needed, and we really appreciated his patience and attentiveness. WHAT WE SWALLOWED: *FRIED CALAMARI: Really good! A tasty appetizer to start our family-style dinner. *BAKED ZITI: This was delicious! The combination of the flavorful sauce and all that cheesy goodness made this a satisfying dish. The cheese is what made it! *FRUTTI DI MARE: MY FAVORITE! I loved the combination of mussels, clams, calamari, and shrimp. All that seafood together made for such a delicious pasta dish. SOOO good! *TIRAMISU: Sadly, this one was a disappointment. It used to be one of our favorites, but something has definitely changed. The taste was almost plastic-like, which was a bummer because I remember enjoying it so much more in the past. *BROWNIE SUNDAE: NOW THIS!!! Served in a HUGE martini glass, the presentation alone was so much fun! A warm brownie paired with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream? YES, PLEASE! Such a delicious combination, and definitely the dessert to order. If you're debating between this and the tiramisu, GET THE BROWNIE SUNDAE! BdB was a great choice for our family gathering. The staff was accommodating, our server worked incredibly hard to take care of our large group, and the food was consistently good, with the exception of the tiramisu. Most importantly, we appreciated having a comfortable space where our family could come together, share memories, and celebrate my aunt's life. Our waiter and host, Alexander, was amazing! He greeted us as soon as we walked in, and we were seated immediately. We ordered the lasagna and penne alla vodka, and I had a glass of Buca's traditional red wine. Everything was SOOOOO good! The food, the ambience, and the service were all amazing. We absolutely recommend Buca di Beppo! We actually had Buca cater our wedding back in 2020, so that should tell you everything! We've loved their food for years and they did not disappoint. My friends and I came here for dinner to try the 4 for $49.99 deal. You get a salad, pasta, entree, and garlic bread in shareable quantities. We chose the Caesar salad (dressing on the side), penne alla vodka, and chicken parmigiana. The penne alla vodka pasta was kind of bland and I wish the chicken parmigiana had come with more sauce. The garlic bread was probably my favorite dish. Overall the food was mid but a good amount of food for the price. We came in on a Wednesday and were one of two parties eating there that night. I haven't been to bucca in over 15 years. I remember the warmth of the family style atmosphere. The great food and vibes. That is why I suggested bucca for dinner. It's conveniently located next to the parking structure and close to everyone so it was an easy choice. We made a reservation for 630. Came in and it was just as I remembered. Warm, inviting and it smelled delicious. We were seated right away. Our server was Jin. He was very pleasant. Right off the bat, night started wrong. It was four of us. We ordered our beverages. Our server only brought us 2. My friend wanted a cocktail and they didn't have the spirit it required. Ok, he picked something else, nope. Don't have it. Ok, so he ordered a basic gin and tonic. He wanted more ice. Jin then informs us that they don't have any glassware because they are still washing them. So he provides my friend a white plastic kids cup with ice. He apologizes profusely for not having glassware. It's a little weird but it's okay at this point. We remind him that we're still missing two drinks... That takes forever. I'm assuming because of the lack of glassware. Food comes out. It's pretty good. But after the food comes out we are not checked up on at all until it's time for the bill. I've always loved Buca! I brought my boyfriend here for the first time a couple weeks ago and he loved it! He got the salmon sorrento with fettuccine Alfredo and I got the lasagna and a side Cesar salad. We also got mozzarella garlic bread! Everything was delicious and of course we had lasagna leftovers which we ate for dinner that same night! The portions are huge, you can definitely share your food with 1 or even more people depending how much you like to eat! Celebrated my 70th birthday and was disappointed. We went today Saturday 9/12 at 1pm. Other than our party, the restaurant was relatively empty. Saw they have a new "Buca for One" menu. Great. I'm not a fan of the shareable more expensive platters. Others at our table shared this opinion. Our server, Paul, informed us that unfortunately that menu was only available M-F at lunch ("to drive lunch hour business"). Their website makes no reference to this restriction. Based on the number of customers, it appears weekend business could benefit from this choice in menu offerings. I joined their eclub and one benefit on your birthday is a "colossal brownie sundae". In honor of my milestone birthday, I received a bowl of vanilla ice cream with whipped cream and sprinkles. No brownie or fudge sauce. Our server was not very attentive during our meal. When he left for a break, he told us someone else would cover. We received no service until Paul returned from his break. Again the restaurant was relatively empty. I love the restaurant and food. This place reeks of sewage. It's the end of August and it was disgustingly hot in there establishment. The manager brought over a fan at the end of the meal only for the stench of sewage to be blowing in our face with the cool air we enjoyed for 10 minutes. We ordered a Bud Light and it tasted like sour kombucha, malt vinegar, just disgusting. We did get another beer but it was astonishing how even a simple Bud Light was disgusting.
