Always a favorite. Everyone grabbed lunch and drinks and treats for later. Bought 44 gallons of gas so appreciate the $$. The parking at the pumps has SERIOUSLY become a problem!!!! We waited for 30 minutes for tow different families to come move their parked cars. The whole family had been shopping. Workers all under the covered gas area were parked having lunch. I just stopped at this Buc-ee's and boy was it a disappointment!!! I had to open four bathroom stalls to try to find a half-way decent stall that didn't want to make me barf! The bathroom was just disgusting. Everything I would never expect of a Buc-ee's. Even the attitudes of the kids checking us out was blah. We got a, "you're good". I just drove away from one of my favorite stops while traveling. I was embarrassed by Logan (extremely rude young lady) at the register as soon as I walked in with my SERVICE PET. She singled me out and yelled across the register that pets were not welcome. I clearly specified that he was my service dog and if she needed proof. She then asked me what illnesses I had again calling me out in front of everyone instead of walking around and asking politely and discreetly. I began to tell her a couple of my illnesses and then stopped since we had an audience and asked if she neededto see the document to prove he was a service animal. By this time I was just so upset and beyond embarrassed I chose to walk out and leave him in the car while I went back in. When I walked back in there was now a manager standing next to Logan. I had my phone up and she also yelled across the register that I could not take pictures or videos with my phone in a public place. While the manager was telling me not to use my phone Logan then said to take a picture since it would last longer and that she would smile for the picture. The lack of professionalism, knowledge (Texas Human Resources Code, Chapter 121) and compassion from these two employees is appalling. Bucees is now a Texas staple. If you are on the road and can stop at here it will be well worth it. I love the food at Buc-ee's the pulled pork or brisket bbq sandwiches are my fave. Buc-ee's is known for their clean bathrooms. They have a plethora of stalls so even at its busiest times, you will never have to wait long. If you are just stopping for a quick snack or just to fill up you have a ton of items to choose from to satisfy cravings. The gas prices always give the local competitors a run for their money. Although always busy, I always feel safe coming to Buc-ees. The same goes for any of their locations I have been to! read more

One does not simply pass by a Buc-ee's you MUST stop! Even tho they have a ton of Gas Pumps it's still a wait during peak hours or holidays, that's also because people leave their vehicles at the pump when they are done and go in . Just shakin' my head right now. I thought that my intuition about avoiding roadside attractions was misplaced, and that I should see what all this Buc-ee's noise was about. Jerky station? Hot sandwiches? Bathrooms? .79 cent 10 pound bagged ice? Cast Iron Skillets? Deer salt licks, and fishing tackle? I owed it to myself to stop. I regret it. Many of their jerky options are covered in HFCS, which as we all know is a good way to secretly gain weight without trying - Boo. Yes, they have everything you could possibly want in a gas station - for starters, an entire hunting section stocked with gear for your next kill, right next to the area with pedestrian "wanna Taco 'bout it" T-Shirts and stuffed animals. Yes, they do have ice for .80 cents - that was pretty great. Yes, they do have an assembly line of sausage on a stick, hot sandwiches being made fresh and ready to take, a real smoked meats counter, cast iron cookware, a wall of slushie machines, and every other bit of nonsense you can imagine. But their gimmick is also their flaw - you see, the way Buc-ee's operates is through cutting costs more than the other guy. You don't understand how deep they cut "waste" off, and what they consider waste. Give them a call on a telephone; any Buc-ee's at all - even corporate. Go ahead...I'll wait. You can't, because they don't have phones. Answering a phone costs money. A manager told me this to my face. The email contact system doesn't go anywhere either - I tried it. You wanna talk? Drive to a store. Another fun experiment: Buy something, drive down the road, then try to exchange it without a receipt an hour after you buy it. You can't. They need a receipt - but the only way to get a requisite receipt is to ask for one. Receipt tape costs money, and they only print them if you ask. Again, a manager told me this to my face. Those guys are impossible. Buc-ee's is a strange place, like if Aldi and Costco made an offspring then orphaned it in Texas. Their products are relatively low quality, they are not accommodating, and you can literally taste them saving money. Never thought I'd taste corporate accounting practices before; I can't describe the taste beyond disappointing, but I can say for sure that it smells like a cheapskate beaver. read more

There are several reasons why I love Buc-ee's: 1. I love clean bathroom with no waiting. 2. I can browse food, candy, snacks and create my own custom soda all in the same place. 3. I think their banana pudding is stupendous. 4. Their kolaches can be taken to-go and warmed in your microwave for a tasty snack The only thing I wish Buc-ee's had, is more affordable, Made In USA products. I think their plush beaver is soft and touchable (hardy har har), and I would definitely buy their phone case covers, but at those prices, I don't think so. I'd love to scoop up pens, pencils, stickers, neoprene pencil/knick knack cases, but with those prices, you think you were at Gucci. Ok, maybe not Gucci, but Coach maybe? I do love getting the fountain soda and adding a shot or two of syrup. My fav is to get a Coke and just 1 quick press of the vanilla and 1 of the cherry. I try to get the smallest size, even though the Idiocracy size of Mega Mega Value, is well...a value, but I enjoy my pancreas and try to go easy. I love all Buc-ees locations! The restrooms are always clean, clean, clean and there are plenty of stalls so you never have to wait in line. All the food is fresh and is not your typical gas station burrito-crap. They serve barbecue, custom-made sandwiches, as well as pre-prepared sandwiches in the refrigerated bays in the middle of the store. They also have healthy options like cut fruit, veggies and hummus, and other refrigerated snacks and dips. Buc-ees also has your basic gas station sundries, too (drinks, chips, cookies, candy, and OTC medicine), as well as a large assortment of beaver-themed clothing and novelties. They even have an ICEE machine! The standout items are the beaver nuggets, homemade fudge and jerky selection, as well as warm nuts and kolaches. I can't stop at Buc-ees without picking up some combination of each to bring home and share with friends/family. If you are into homemade jams/preserves and salsas, they sell canned local varieties that would be nice for gifting. Coffee is always piping hot (seriously - TOO HOT!) and freshly made. Their house blend is my favorite, but the French roast is good for those who prefer a darker brew. They have a nice assortment of sugars, creamers and half-and-half so you can adjust the proportions to your liking. Buc-ees coffee is definitely a must have item on those hungover Sunday mornings driving back from your weekend getaway. I deducted a star because like other reviewers have mentioned, Buc-ees is a tad on the expensive side. This has become a "must stop" place whenever we're traveling to/from Houston. They have the cleanest bathrooms, LOTS of things to grab and enjoy on the road (snacks, drinks, books-on-disc). They also have a full-service grill to make a sandwich or whatever if you want something fresh and hot. Otherwise, there's lots of other food items choose from around the store. I'm partial to picking up a bag of their "beaver nuggets" (if you remember Sugar Pops cereal, I'd bet money it's the same thing) and a Mr. Pibb. Or, some beef jerky or dried sausage. .....yeah, this place is a bad influence..... Now I'm ready for another road trip! read more

I used to love coming to this buc-ee's but the last two times i've stopped in here, the customer service is the worst. The employees act like they can't speak or use their manners. I was being checked out and the whole time IMELDA didn't say one word to me, no eye contact, no acknowledgement. Just scanned my items and acted as if there wasn't a person standing right in front of her, the girl was mad or upset seems like but she didn't have any problem talking it up with her employee standing next to her.... Pulled pork is amazing I reviewed another Bucees less than 50 miles away, so same review. Fit perfectly, again. Yeah Phraseks use to be my main stop on the way to Houston, but for some reason their jerky/pulled pork just went to crap in my opinion. It is not tasty, and always has the laziest high school kids working behind the counters, can never ask any gluten-free question or else there brains will explode. But BUC-EES OWNS! You're like, ok quick bathroom break, okay 2 hours later and $2040 I left Buc-Ees broke, haha! This is how gas stations should be doing it, so much candy, so much jerky, so much fresh prepared jerky, a pulled pork, beef, chicken station, with fresh potato chips. Self Ordering System.... You go up to a monitor, pick what you whatever you want.. sandwich... jerky....cheese fries, pickles.. pay. Then you wait for your number to be called and go pick up your food. Buc-Ees not only succeeded in the BEST BATHROOMS in the USA category, but the Futurist gas station approach. Whoever created this idea is genius, and should be thanked forever. This is one of the bigger Buc-ee's I've seen. It's not as big as some of the others (Luling, Madisonville, etc.) but it's the largest one off 290. It's clean, well stocked, and full of helpful staff ready to give you a hand with whatever you need. The bathrooms are spacious and well-kept, which is a feature of any Buc-ee's. They have your typical selection of amazing snacks, prepare food, quick stop groceries, and whatnot. Parking can be a bit of an issue. Every time I've been here the driver's have been absolute jerks about yielding right of way. That said, it has nothing to do with the Buc-ee's and everything to do with the tourist clientele who don't understand the rules of the road. read more

On a day trip down to Mexico we got hungry and pulled over to Buc-ee's. This was my first time ever to a Buc-ee's... This is a brand new location first thing that caught me off guard when I walked in was how big the store was. They have a huge selection of goods... and since I've heard they got the best beef jerky I had to try it for my self (not bad at all). I ended up getting some sausage jalapeno kolache's which were really good and filled me up. They also got a large gift shop and lots of food options (there's a self service option to order food). I just saw a manager grey haired older man in a white shirt act in the most unprofessional manner - great way to represent Buc-ee's! There were about 20 people stopped around them just staring at him refusing service to a man because another man in a separate line was laughing. Manager felt threatened by laughter! Looks like Corporate Buc-ee's needs to send him to sensitivity training. Man that was refused service was military way to treat our servicemen Buc-ee's. When you think of a Texas icon, few things come to The Alamo, San Jacinto, What-A-Burger, Shiner, Blue Bell, Big Tex, Cotton Bowl, and Buc-ee's. Buc-ee's is the sterling example of what a gas station should be. The restrooms are consistently immaculate, spacious, and never a wait (including the ladies room). Much like the restrooms, the store, inside and out, is consistently immaculate, spacious, fast cashier, and some of the friendliest people you meet. The food is fresh, fast, made to order, delicious, and extremely reasonable; you have to try the turkey melt, fajitas, nuggets, jerky, and the fudge. This was my first time at one of the stores and it definitely was a great experience. They have it all and this shirt is the place to stop for some snacks since they have it all. I had the opportunity of trying their barbecue sandwich would sure was worth the almost 7 dollars I paid for it. I didn't even know where to start when considering the snacks since they had so many options and all kinds of candies. Don't even get me started it with the food since they had so many food options that I wanted to try such as would seem to be a sausage wrap and some freshly cut potato chips. Looks great, has clean restrooms, and a great selection of housewares and foodstuff. Where they fell short was their poor business management. We've travelled all over the country, and have visited almost every travel station out there (Love's, Pilot, Flying J, etc), and never had the issue we had at this Buc-ee's. I always take my own teabags, and fill my own mug with hot water. Everywhere else it is free of charge, but Buc-ee's wanted to charge me $1.19 for a mug refill. We called the manager over to question this charge, we were also purchasing over $50 in snacks and jerky, but because they are so cheap and wanted to charge us coffee refill prices for just water, we walked away not spending any money there. Sorry Buc-ee's, but we'll be passing you up to buy our jerky at Mikeska's down the road. read more

It seem like their prices have gone up a bit on food and their sandwiches aren't as tasty from like a year or two ago. I used to always love ordering the pulled pork sandwich but they started to put in containers and I didn't like how it get soggy so fast! Now it seem they got rid of container but still pricey at almost $7 and also the potato salad used to be cheaper but they now sell by the weight of the container. I love me the scones at the bakery. They are fluffy and rich in flavor! The raspberry one is probably my favorite! I love all the seasonal Buccees swag and gas prices always the cheapest!! Buc-cees, despite the crazy name, is actually a must see on your road travels in Texas. It's pricey to be sure (thus the minus star) but I was shocked by this WalMart sized convenience store. It's got everything you need and more. As my friend said, "if they had showers I could live there." You walk in to a highly organized machine -- with tons of different kinds of jerky, fudge, enough soda fountains to sink a battleship, 49 bathrooms, jewelry, caps, t shirts, home decor, horseshoes, deer corn, cheap ice, and so much more I can't possibly list. I go to this Bucees 4x a month. And today - I'm writing about it. Restrooms - SUPER CLEAN! Coffee - tons of choices! Food - prepped and ready for you! Fish Taco - hmmm. I order this every time I stop. Thank you Bucees for frying it Fresh. Every. Single. Time. That's where you get 5 stars! (Waller pre-fries it and warms it to order. Not as good.) BUTTTTTTTTT, when you take 8-9 minutes to make it, I wonder. OH! But the person has already warmed the tortilla, squirted sauce all over it, and forgets my 55¢ worth of cheese that IS EXTRA - I AM PISSED. And the taco is cold. Today, the fish was ready. For 3 minutes. And no one noticed. Then you kept coughing near your gloves. I'm glad you are protected from your own germs. Please don't add them to my food. A cup of ice is 50¢... but you can buy a huge bag for 80¢. Bulk is KING here ladies and gentleman. It may be time to lower my standards and just stop at LOVES. read more

I love the beaver! Driving back to Houston from Corpus Christi, the funny billboards started popping up just outside of Victoria. I've seen them for months but this location has been under construction, so now that it's open, I had to see what the hype was about. This is a truck stop mega-store. It's huge. It has everything you can imagine in a truck stop. Snacks, drinks, beer, sandwiches, jerky, souvenirs, BBQ pits, hunting equipment and a giant beaver. They have a great selection of handmade sweets and tons of Texas souvenirs. They also have a ton of jerky and while Prasek's about 15 minutes away is the cream of the crop when it comes to jerky, Buc-ees is still really good. I can't imagine anything else I could want in a truck stop. The bathrooms are huge and clean. While that is becoming more common at these mega-stores, I strongly encourage more competition in truck stop bathrooms. We'd all be better off if truck stop bathrooms keep getting bigger, better and cleaner. My wife especially appreciates it. The most important part of a truck stop is gas. It was $2.07 last night, and that was the cheapest I've seen between Houston and Corpus Christi. Most truck stops charge much higher prices because there isn't any competition, so I was really surprised that Buc-ee's was the LOWEST I saw all weekend. They lived up to the hype, at least in my mind. Buc-ee's will no longer be another stop on my road trips. In part, Buc-ee's will be the destination! read more
