I was so excited to stop at Buc-ee's.I was looking forward to shopping and picking up a few things for my grandchildren. It is clean and does have a great selection of items however it was so freakin cold I couldn't stand it. I then noticed that all of the employees had jackets or sweaters on. When I mentioned it I was told it is always like this. It had to be 50 degrees in there. What a huge waste of energy. I will not be back. read more

This company does so many things right I hate to post anything negative. But they just don't get it. FIRST THE CONS IN MY OPINION: I've even talked with the employees about sandwiches. Years ago they made sandwiches without that hard Ciabatta bread. Now the only sandwich they make other than the chop block Roast Beef is with Ciabatta bread, or some type of wrap. Who thinks this Ciabatta bread is good? Great for cutting and wrapping a sandwich. Now in reality most folks that stop here are buying food to go that purchase food. Let say that's 50%. Maybe 10-20% are buying a sandwich. So Buc's selling several thousand sandwiches a day. When you pull out to eat the sandwich it starts to fall apart because we one handed drivers are eating on the road, like most everyone that buys food to go. I have eaten every sandwich they make and have stopped eating them altogether. I hate wearing a sandwich. You can't make the same sandwich on the monitors because they don't offer them. The employees say all deli sandwiches are made in the back early. We can't make one like that with different bread. I said your kidding me right? No sir they stated. I switched to brisket and occasional eat one. I tried the sausage several times, but now pass on it. My last sausage sandwich had tough skin, the pieces were not cut all the way through and you guessed it, now your driving down the road with two slices of sausage hanging out of your mouth. I know BBQ house slice the meat to make long pieces, but the skin on this stuff is so tough it's hard to bit through an entire piece while driving because the sausage is stacked every direction. The sausage flavor is there for sure. I did have to spit out some mystery meat, we sausage connoisseurs call gristle. I mean two large pieces back to back. Never acceptable when eating sausage. I would like to see Wheat buns available. The sausage portions are very close from sandwich to sandwich. The Brisket, not so much. I ate Brisket yesterday and found it barely warm. Pretty sure the heat lamp was not directly on my sandwich. Next time I will just ask them to make it right then. And now for the Pros: Clean rest rooms with attendants. Always fresh coffee Free samples, you love this with kids. A variety for everyone. Whole pies if you forget to make a dessert to an event. Great jerky Home made chips. Cheap ice Fuel yesterday was 30-35 cents a gallon cheaper than everywhere else around. Art work Gift shop A great store in general, just need to adjust food a little in my opinion. read more

I've been to several Buc-ee's and my first experiences were good. Then I visited the one in Wharton. Someone who worked there was very rude to my girlfriend and I. It happens sometimes, but we usually go out of our way to be polite to people and it really put a damper on our afternoon. I stopped in at that location again about a month later. I wasn't greeted at the door like at the other Buc-ee's, and the kids that work there were screaming across the store at some other kids. It was like I walked into a pep rally waiting to happen. I was amazed that there wasn't a manager telling them all to shut up. It wasn't a fun time like the other Buc-ee's. I went there again a couple of weeks later and it was about the same. No one said anything to me, but I know that some of the employees were going to some party and were tired of being at work. They were screaming about it across the store. Amazing. There seems to be a lack of management skills at the Wharton location. I have since been going to Prasek's in El Campo instead. It's much nicer. They have a place to sit and eat, the employees seem to be actually working, and they always make me feel very welcome. Update: We went by the same location yesterday to get some sugar free candy for my mom. We also purchased two kolaches. The kolaches were good, but the service was bad. There was no thank you or have a nice day, even after I wished the employee a nice day. As we went to pay, the cashier was very friendly and actually told us to have a nice day on the way out. First time ever for that Buc-ee's location. She should be promoted. read more

Arriving at Buc-ee's after being on the open roads for miles will be just like pulling up to the gates of Disney World, only BETTER. The restrooms are always clean and there are plenty of stalls so you never have to wait. There are a ton of snacks, desserts, and foods to lust over. Everything is fresh and they even have made to order sandwiches and barbeque. This is also the perfect place to pick up last minute souvenirs. Plus, there's a giant beaver mascot standing in the center of the store. And guess what? You don't need to wait in a long line to take a selfie with him either. read more

HORRIBLE experience at the Wharton location off HWY 59. My husband got a cup of coffee and as soon as he got to the car the bottom of the cup fell apart and hot coffee spilled all over his lap and the car. After cleaning it up I went in to buy another cup of coffee because he needed the caffeine for the road trip (yes, I know, I should have just drove away). I got to the car with the second cup and it also fell apart ... literally disintegrated. I went back inside and asked to speak to a manager. I felt it was my civic duty to report the defective cups so no one else got hot coffee all over them. The team lead looked like she didn't believe me and asked to see the cup. I took them to the trash can and let them dig both cups out. At this point all i asked for was a plastic cup of coffee. The team lead said no and called her asst manager to the front. After 30 minutes of this craziness i politely asked if they could please comp me a plastic cup so i could get some coffee and be on my way. They refused to give me a $5 cup. They told me I could pay for the cup and get a free refill on my coffee. Ridiculous! Worst customer service I have ever experienced. read more

Today our 22 year old daughter (she is an UT 5-year student) was traveling to Houston from Austin. She stopped in the Buc-ee's #18 in Waller Texas to fill up her car. She was heading to Houston to help out at an art showing. Her debit card was declined and she did not have any cash. The manager gave our daughter $20.00. For that we are eternally grateful!! I absolutely love Buc-ees!! Especially their flagship stores. I've been to this one on my way to the Valley and another off of I-10 on my way to San Antonio. Buc-ees has everything you could possibly need and more. These bigger Buc-ees even have full-service delis with yummy food! What I love the most is their restrooms. They really pride themselves on having the Best Restrooms and they absolutely do!! I hate public restrooms but Buc-ees restrooms are the exception. Their flagship stores are large, buildings are nice, inside is clean, and they are packed with goodies. Buc-ees is growing and I can't wait to start seeing them everywhere. It's neat getting to tell people that the first store was opened just a few minutes from where I grew up. :) read more

Not for the prices, which are admittedly high, and not for the taste, either - their fudge tastes like plastic, their bakery items are dry and tasteless, and their jerky is just pathetic. DO IT FOR THE BATHROOMS. Seriously. Cleanest gas station bathrooms ever. There's a full-time bathroom attendant. There's sanitizer in every stall. There's privacy. This was my first visit to Buc-ee's while on my trip back from SPI I will definitely make it a pit stop on future trips. Major high point was the abundance of CLEAN Ladies restrooms. Card users beware- MANAGERS LACK CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS and MANNERS! Extreme credit card charges with gas purchases. Every time I travel here from my home state this store makes additional charges to my credit card when I purchase gas. Despite what their policy reads they do not always refund or credit it back. In the past I have not complained. I just stopped purchasing gas at this store Today while visiting I was charge 150 to my Amex card for a 20 gas purchase. When I confronted managers Robert blazek and Andy Goldberg they were rude, laughed and refused to give their names and store information. It was intimidating to have to mean male managers with zero customers service skills shrugging their shoulders claiming they can take anywhere from 1-200 dollar hold on my card for gas. They did acknowledged that this could be an inconvenience . I just traveled 1400 miles because my relative died in hurricane Harvey and many other family members needed assistance because they lost everything. I am concerned that leadership thinks this acceptable and that being rude to the consumer in front of others is something to be proud about. they return Historically they have charged my card the extreme amount twice and only reverse the charge once. They are thieves and a poor organization when it comes to customer service. I will be reaching out to local regulators. read more

Who knew there would be a gas station/convenience store comparable to a small Target in the middle of nowhere? Buc-ee's is a fantastic place to stop and they really do have the cleanest restrooms of any convenience store I have ever been in. The food selection rivals that of a small grocery store AND they also have a hot food area that prepares sandwiches to order. I noticed there is also a counter that specializes in house made fudge of probably 10 or 15 different flavors. There is just so much to choose from and see you almost forget this is a gas station. For years now, this place has been our family's traditional road trip gas and potty stop, when traveling from the Rio Grande Valley towards Houston and beyond. This is also our road trip go to for good coffee, hot tea (important for my hubby), iced tea and a variety of sodas. Lots of good snacks, baked goods, various types of jerky, sandwiches and more. If you're looking for a gift item or folksy home decor, they have that covered, too. It's always interesting to see the wide variety of people who stop here. The place also has good walking areas for your doggie's potty needs. My favorite place ever. I get fuel, beer, food, batteries for my feeders, Jerky and deer corn all in one place. Who wouldn't love this place. Their customer service is dialed in, and their bathrooms, no sh$t, are the cleanest ever. Oh yes, and you can buy all your Christmas gifts there as well. I love Bucees and ALWAYS make it my business to stop at them whatever town I'm in. The food is excellent no matter what you choose, restrooms of course always clean, staff friendly, the list goes on and on. Well today I was totally disappointed at the Wharton location stopped to get Kolaches and was totally disgusted there were over 10 flies on top of the Kolaches case, flying around the pecans being made, kitchen window and the employees were serving food from inside the case as if they didn't see them. I asked an employee behind the Kolaches case why do you have so many flies and she simply shrugged her shoulders. I was appalled and just walked out. This didn't seem anything like a Bucees I have ever seen. I will never stop there again. read more

We always stop at Prasek's on our way back and forth from South Padre Island. This time we decided to try Bucee's on our way back since we had stopped at Prasek's on the way to SPI after my coworker said that their jerky is really good. Well, we are not going back. I have two small kids and even though their bathrooms were clean they did not have a family bathroom which makes my life so easy with an infant and a toddler. Prasek's has a family bathroom and it is very clean. Also, they do not have a place to sit, get a bite while not driving or feed the kids. Prasek's has that too. I can use their high chairs to feed my infant and let the kids rest a bit before we hit the road again. The store was also extremely cramped with stuff and that's probably why they have no sitting area. They are just trying to make you buy as much stuff as possible and they are not worried about you being able to sit down for a few minutes and enjoy a cup of coffee. Lastly, their jerky was NOT better than Prasek's. We are going back to Prasek's next time. read more
