Let me first say that I have never had a dog that needed grooming before I got my Cocker Spaniel in…read moreJanuary, so I don't really have the vocabulary to ask for what I wanted done. I assumed that because she isn't an exotic breed, the groomer would know how to do it right. But alas, I took her in the GH location, which has since closed, and I was wrong about that assumption. When I picked her up, I was appalled to see what they had done to her. Her legs were shaggy, her feet had lots of untrimmed pieces randomly sticking out, her back looked all choppy, and her topknot looks terrible. It's jagged around the back and hacked unevenly on top and in the front. But the worst part is her ears. There are clipper burns in three places on the underside, and for no good reason THEY SHAVED HER EARS. All those sweet wavy Cocker Spaniel "Lady and the Tramp" ears are shaved bare. And that part has clipper burns, also. As does her chest. The poor little thing is in pain from that, but they will eventually heal. The more lasting problem is that she is traumatized. I tried to smooth her sides out and trim that topknot so it's not so jagged, but she was terrified of the clippers and scissors, so good luck to any other groomer who even tries to give her a groom. I talked to the breeder I got her from (who is even more livid than I am.) She told me it will take 18 - 24 months for her ears to grow out again. The groomer's explanation for shaving her ears? They were "matted." Like hell they were. I have brushed them recently. Because they hang down when she drinks they do get wet, but nothing the slightest bit of conditioner couldn't ease out. For this I paid $75. So be aware. They might be fine for a dog that doesn't require shaving, but I will never ever ever take an animal back to Shannon's.

They do a pretty decent job on my two dogs. They messed up on ones fanny and so the owner is now…read moredoing them. No complaints there.
