I would give the Bubble Run a zero if I could. The run was scheduled for February. The race organizers changed the date to OCTOBER! Now they won't give me a refund saying it was nonrefundable. I'm sorry, you changed the date to 8 months later than originally agreed up on. I signed up because it was a date that I could attend, then you change the date to a new date that I can't, I should get my money back. Nevermind that they also changed the location twice. Don't sign up. They say it is free and it is not! Then they do whatever they want like your life revolves around their schedule and expect you to go with whatever they change to. read more

The Bubble Run Honolulu is a great event and I will continue to come year after year, but, they need to change the venue first. . . Dillingham Ranch, while picturesque and amazing in its own right, is downright dangerous. The track is rough cut through the California grass and Hale Koa trees that usually occupy the area, and I mean ROUGH CUT. It literally looks like they ran a machine through the path once, maybe twice. The course is pitted with hidden potholes, knots of roots from dead weeds, branches, coconuts and all kinds of other debris. People walking were nearly breaking both ankles and falling down, I guarantee you there were injuries at this event. I don't know why they moved from Kapolei to the ranch, but it was an abhorrently bad decision that they need to seriously reconsider. I'd rather run around the parking lot of Aloha Stadium or an airfield? There are other options and those other options need to be seriously looked into. As it stands if the event remains at Dillingham Ranch 2022 will be our last year. read more

We LOVE bubbles. And really, we would have to love love LOVE bubbles to wake up as early as we did to get out to this race. Now, the word "race" is not literal. I do not think that there was a prize for the person who wins the race. But it was definitely fun. And we took our 16-month-old triplets, because they love bubbles too. So, we did not run. But some people in our party did. And they had fun too. We got our tickets on sale, they were $20 per person ages five and over. I think the regular price is like $50 which would be way too much. Because I love dressing up my children, I also bought the keiki pack. It came with a T-shirt, headband, bubble run tattoo, and a pair of neon yellow goggles. I also splurged and bought three dollar rubber ducky's for each of my boys. He is the adult price included a T-shirt, headband, temporary tattoo, and of course your race number. There are 5 bogs of Bubbles, white, pink, blue, green, yellow. It really neatly colors your white shirts. But it washes out, so take your pictures are before you do laundry. Future tips for my future self: 1. Do not worry about the dye in the bubbles, it washes out. 2. Do not push the stroller with the baby and it through the bubbles. They will literally drowned in bubbles. They also have more fun if they get to walk through and play in the bubbles. 3. do not think that the bubble vodka is clear of little bodies. Lots of kids like to dive back into the bubbles and you cannot see them when you're walking through. 4. Goggles for the kids was a good idea. 5. Other things that you brought that were helpful were: water bottles, quick drying shoes/slippers, snacks for the kids (and adults). And of course your camera. Super fun. My one beef, I wish there were more bubbles than just at the bogs. The rest of the walk/run, was kind of boring. The bubble party at the end was very fun though. read more

My coworker had wanted to get a group together to do one of these fun 5ks, and as it was my weekend off, AND there was a "free registration (actually came out to $12.09 for the T-shirt, registration, bib, temporary tattoos)", of course I was in! I waited 45 minutes in line at 1 pm the day before the race for packet pickup. And it was a weekday! Crazy. The line went smoothly and I was able to pick up mine/my coworkers' packets without any qualms. On race day, as the race was held at Dillingham Ranch this year, we waited 1.5 hours in traffic to park, parked 1 mile away (because this occasional tightwad did not want to pay $20 for parking), and unexpectedly walked ANOTHER mile to the start line. Shuttle buses were an option from the official parking to the start line but they were few and far in between, as none had passed by me by the time we had finished walking to the start line. Port-a-potties were abundant, so that was good. Now to the bubble run itself- it was more like a walk void of much bubbles LOL. I mean, I knew to expect that speed, but I didn't expect how little bubbles there actually were. There were only about 5 stops (start line, pink, blue, green, yellow) along the route spewing out bubbles (kind of like a car wash) and the course was muddy from rain the day before. Combine the two and it's not a "clean run." Not to say that we didn't have fun and made the most of what bubbles there were! But overall, I'm too bubbled out to do this again. I've been to two Bubble Run events. Both were amazingly fun. It's more of a fast brisk walk because of the amount of people and the Bubble pod areas a super wet and crowded. Word to the wise walk slowly through the bubbles it's thick you can't really see through it plus watch out for strollers and little children. It's a fun event and the kids enjoy it too. Don't attempt to jump or run in the Bubble stations you are highly likely to hurt some one. It's a 5k run so be prepared for the 3.162 mikes of fun! At the end of the race there is a bubble party where they shot rays and rays of bubbles. It feels like it's snowing literally as the bubbles come flying down. If you don't mind the colors being all over you than this is for you. Bring a towel to cover your car seats and slippers if you want to change shoes cause by the end of the event it will be soggy. This run is more fun for my kids than it is for me. That's the reason it gets two stars, because I'd give it less. First of all, let's talk about the location. The area they chose is full of trash. It used to be Barbers Point Naval Air Station. It's now owned by the state and it went to hell. It's obvious that people use it as a dumping area with the amount of trash everywhere. The area is being cleared so there is a lot of fallen trees and other debris resulting from a clearing. Second is the parking. It totally sucked. There was none. Third, there wasn't a lot of bubbles. Bubbles are the main reason my kids wanted to go. Runners run a little less than a mile or so and they get to bubble stations they have to run through. Well, the course isn't long...maybe 2 miles. So there were only three stations(blue, pink, and green). Pink barely had bubbles coming out and green was reduced to a pathetic amount of bubbles. There was so little bubbles that the kids (not mine) were getting their shirts stained with green dye by dipping their hand in the mini swimming pool filled with green dye. These swimming pools are supposed to be source of the bubbles, but one bubble machine was off while the other looked like it was tired. The guy managing the station didn't seem to care. read more

In that hour you will think about if you should bail. Bail in waking up early, bail in walking 3 miles, bail in baking in the hot sun. You think about calling your wife and asking her why she didn't stand in this line? The day finally comes. You wake up because you love your wife. You help dress your kids with a half heart smile. You drag your feet to the door. You drive to Barbers point only to WAIT, yet again. You drive and drive to look for parking. Pay more for parking or walk more? Finally, you make it with your family and so you thought. You wait, then wait, and wait. Wait to get to the starting line. When you actually make it to the starting line you see the faces of utter excitement in your children. You see the love in your wife's eyes. You walk a few steps and your youngest who distains walking as much as you do. He grabs at your hand with a smile on his face. When your wife loves you and you love your wife you will make compromises because it will benefit the both of you. Bubble Run Hawaii This year the Bubble Run took place at Kalaeloa on January 17. Packet pick up was the day before the race and the line to pick up took an hour long. I have participated in several different walks/runs over the years and this is the longest I ever had to wait. If you were unable to pick it up on that day you could pick it up on race day for $5 extra for every race packet. There were 2 heats. I participated in the second heat at 9 a.m. We planned to arrive an hour before our scheduled time. It took time to find parking. Paid parking was available near the event for $8. There is only one area to use the portapotties, at the beginning of the race and at the end of the race. Water is offered at the middle of the race and at the end of the race. There were 5 different stations were bubbles flowed from machines. It was in different colors white, pink, green, yellow and blue. At the end I guess there was supposed to be an after party. I'm not sure if it's because we were a part of the second wave, or if the cannons that shoot out bubbles was broken, but everything was practically shut down. All in all, when my wife asks to participate in this race next year, I will have to reread my review to remind me of the time we are investing into each other, our children and our community. read more

2020 Bubble Run; Moved the venue from Kapolei to North Shore AFTER we paid, AND parking is $20 per car at the new location. Most comments about this on their Facebook are met with "PM/email us and we'll give you more information," some have responses with the new location though. The 2022 Bubble Run gets two stars for me due to lack of transparency, and actual dangerous conditions. This was advertised as a family-friendly event, but it took place on Dillingham Ranch through extremely uneven terrain full of grass, rocks, and mud. My husband I brought our one-year-old in a stroller, and the stroller was not equipped for this, so he had to carry it. It took forever, we were all exhausted, and my son had a complete meltdown. My mom had a jogger stroller with big wheels, and it still got stuck so many times it was physically impossible for her to jog, and she had to walk it instead. In addition, we saw several people trip and narrowly avoid injury due to their feet getting stuck in the roots and grass. Running was not safe or possible. An additional lack of transparency: The event was advertised as free, but we had to pay a $10 insurance fee per person AND a $3 parking fee PER PERSON, including the baby. And then when we got there, it was street parking. Overall, the entire event was extremely stressful and disappointing and not what was advertised. I gave it two stars instead of one because there was a bubble machine at the beginning, which the kids thought was fun. And there was a popcorn stand selling the best kettle corn I ever had. Pretty awesome event. Registration was free, parking wasn't... balanced out. This year it wasn't in Kapolei, but up in north shore area. The view on The running path was OK at best however the real fun is in the bubbles and that is only improved the further in the run you get. My daughter absolutely went crazy over the bubble cannon and she didn't complain much over the 3 miles we had to run. I would advise if you're going to bring your little ones with you that you also bring along a snack or water for them during the walk jog. Either way it was a blast and I would totally do it again read more

This review is more for the company as I actually registered for the Foam Glow but I wanted people to be warned: My friends and I registered a team for the Saturday January 19th event. We were very excited because we did it last year and had fun. Now they changed the date from Saturday to Friday night 1/18/2019 and NONE of us can attend. I reached out to the company and my only response was, "we sent out a mass email. Check your spam folder" I couldn't find any email anywhere and I looked. Ok, maybe the $10 registration fee is not refundable, but they should refund us for any additional products we bought. Or give us credit to the next race in Honolulu. As it is we can only transfer to another person or another race that is already on their schedule. I cannot make any of their other races. On their schedule. The company is not very trustworthy. They don't have good customer service either. Think twice before your sold on their supposedly "FREE" registration. read more

Bubble Run is a family-friendly 5K held in Kapolei, even though their event name is "Bubble Run Honolulu." Despite being advertised as a free event, there is a $10 event insurance fee as well as a mandatory donation of $1 to a charity. For the price of $11, this event gives you a shirt, headband, runner's bib, and a temporary tattoo. If you're parking at the event site, it costs $10, but if you're looking for free parking, there is a shopping center nearby--be careful though as you may be at risk of getting your car towed. This year, the event was attended by more than 16,000 runners as claimed by the emcee of the event. This is my second time attending, and I was glad to see they are a lot more organized this time around. There is a 60-90 second break in between each wave to ensure each runner is safe and there is enough space for people who want to run or walk. We got there around 8:15 am for the 8am slot and we did not get to start the run until around 8:50am. If walked, the course should take about 30-45 minutes. But, make sure to take photo breaks at the foam stations. During the run, there are 3 bubble stops: one for red, then blue, then lastly, green. Each stop represents each mile of the 5K. There is no check-in to the event; just a packet pick-up a few days before the event at UFC Gym Waikele which holds all the items you're supposed to receive. There are so many people attending that doing a check-in on the day of would be a nightmare. However, there is a $5 fee if you want to get it on the day of the event. They also sell merchandise, which I personally think are overpriced. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the event even though the organizers used misinformation in order to get runners to sign up. read more

So much fun! This 5K event was $20 pre-sale. We picked our run packets the day before which included a shirt, a headband, a removable tattoo, and our runner number. The PA system at the start was horrible. It wasn't very clear and it was too loud. They let everyone go in small waves so there is no overcrowding. The route itself was okay. There were some parts that you would go down the street and turn around at the end of the street and come back, but I guess whatever you got to do to make it a 5K. Going through the bubbles are pretty cool. I think there are like 4 colors you go through: yellow, green, red, and blue. Make sure you are spinning around to get all the colors everywhere. Also, please don't stop in the middle as its hard to see going through so you may be run into if you are just standing there. None of the colors are really dark except red. Red overpowers all the colors. PARENTS WITH STROLLERS/TODDLERS: Hold on to your kids. Also, a lot of the toddlers (including mine) actually hated it. Even when I covered my son inside of the stroller, he was scared. I guess because they are smaller and can't hold their breath or know to close their eyes. Also, it is very hard to see in the bubbles. I would walk straight in but would come out on the left or right so maybe they were just scared because they didn't know what was going on. WEAR SHOES YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT. I wore some black shoes to minimize the staining, but after it dries its just on there. My husband reported that the next time he wore his shoes and got it a little wet, it created colored suds for the rest of the day (lol). WEAR PANTS YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT. I wore purple work out leggings, so the color didn't really show after it was washed. After washing, the run shirt was stained pink. After the run, IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA TO WASH THOSE CLOTHES SEPARATELY. The colors stain, especially the red, and do not come out. All in all, it was a good time. After this experience, I probably won't go to another one of these until my son is a bit older. read more

Our first Bubble Run and the enjoyment was ecstatic!!! This was my way of returning to my fitness goals but to enjoy it with my toddler since this was first 'run' was the key. I wanted her to enjoy and not feel like she was being dragged to what Mommy wanted to do. Fun os exactly what she had. I brought her jogging stroller to ensure she could rest and I could monitor her during some of our bubble encounters. The amount of people was huge especially with their keiki as well. It was more of a speed walk then a run but it would have been difficult with everyone there not to walk. Terribly disorganized and a waste of money! We went to this event held at Dillingham Ranch earlier this month and it was miserable. Entry fee was supposedly "free" but they tack on a bunch of extra fees when you check out, so it came out to almost $30/person. Right off the bat, we had to sit in traffic for an hour just to get to the entrance. People were parking on the street literally miles away and walking in, but I stuck with the traffic to the ranch entrance because I paid the mandatory parking fee online and I'd be damned if I wasn't using it! There were virtually no staff directing traffic or anywhere to be seen, really. There was plenty of parking inside the ranch, but it was then a mile walk to get to the start line. The course was quite muddy and the bubble pits were disgusting. The water they were handing out for people to drink came out of a garden hose attached to what looked like an inflatable plastic pool, but with a lid. It tasted gross and made by stomach turn. Had to pay for bottled water and snacks at the finish. I will never do one of these "budget 5ks" again. I did a more expensive one a couple weeks later and the difference was night and day in terms of organization and participant experience. read more

We did the bubble run yesterday, which changed location last minute. It was the most terribly unorganized event I have ever attended or even heard of. I am an event planner and this was the worst! The location change ended up being an hour away from us at Dillingham Ranch. And we found out we had to pick up our registration packet the day before the race. There was only one day between 11am-7pm to pick up in Mililani. The most inconvenient location and on a Friday when traffic is incredibly bad. The smallest child shirts were M and the line snaked around the building, took 45 mins in line. My toddlers were swimming in these shirts. I also read that people were still in line when they had already closed! The only other way to pick up the packet was at the run for $5/person. Unbelievable! You are told to arrive 60-90 mins prior for parking and everything but basically we arrived that early to walk a mile to the entrance/parking. There was no one, no volunteers or signs and people were parking on the road, no one knew any info. We followed suit and parked with everyone else, waited a couple mins for a shuttle and then some other participants walking by said there was different parking and a huge shuttle line. We ended up walking over half a mile to the entrance of the ranch, where there was $20 (RIP OFF) parking and two tiny shuttles to transport thousands. The two shuttles picked up, were gone for 15 mins dropping off and came back to pick up another 40-50ppl. This is what was planned for thousands of attendees?! Most walked and encouraged by a few volunteers to walk bc the shuttle line and wait was long. The volunteers also had no other info about anything if you asked any questions. The one good thing was that my kids had tons of fun going through the bubbles at every km. They had a bubble cannon area at the end but didn't keep that on very long. When we left, we talked to a few others arriving and looking for parking since they also had no idea how far the entrance and parking was from the road where everyone parked. The traffic was also backed up and probably took people an hour just to get a few miles. I really can't believe this is a paid event for how the day went. They even said we'd be on freshly mowed grass when it was a muddy, weeded terrain. There's so much I could say about how to improve this. Hoping we can find different organizers bc my kids want to run through bubbles like this again but I'd never pay for another event run like this. read more

Everything went well until the run. The first bubble station was great, the second the wind was blowing and no bubbles on the path the machine should have been on the other side. The third statio the machine was down and no bubbles. Disappointing. When it came time to leave it was a complete disaster. They forget all about it no one was directing exiting traffic we stayed in the heat for about 20 minutes until some larger vehicles went up the embankment and over the sidewalk then everyone followed very dangerous especially if you were on the sidewalk. read more

HORRIBLE experience. First bubble station (blue) had a DECENT amount of bubbles. The next 2 stations there were no bubbles or the bubbles were coming down at a liquid consistency instead of actual bubbles. Total waste of your money and I do not recommend attending. SO poorly planned. Packet pickup is only two days. Seriously??? Bubble Run... DO BETTER. If you know you're expecting that many participants at least make packet pickup 3 days so everyone doesn't have to wait in a 2 hour line to get a piece of paper and T-shirt. This Bubble Run was so unorganized that I seriously considered getting a refund when I found myself having to stand in a line that snaked around like Disneyland. It took me :45 mins to register but another person told us it took him over an hour. Location changed a few days b4 the event, 1 day to register and pu t-shirts from 11-7pm, day b4 the event. No right time to go bc the line snaked around from 11-7. No headbands, as with other Bubble Runs, only t-shirt with smallest size children medium and largest size adult XL which fit like an adult M. $20 parking fee so it was obvious that everyone decided to park free on the side of the road. Only cars we saw in the "parking lot" were cop cars. Hmmmm, wonder why! Walked about 1/2 mile to the entrance of the ranch, stood in line for 2 shuttle vans that was the size of a small yellow bus. Option was to wait in line or walk to the beginning of the event which seemed like you were already doing the 5K but actually just walking the distance to begin the 5K. The only reason this gets a 1star rating is bc there is no lower rating and bc my grandchildren, 3 and 5, enjoys playing w bubbles. read more
