I recently…read morebought a property and had every size tree you can imagine needing removed - from tons of hollies and underbrush to several very large oak trees. The scope of the job was huge (at least from my perspective). What impressed me most was the professionalism and obvious expertise. They took the time to understand exactly what I wanted, offered excellent recommendations, and made safety a clear priority. The overall job truly surpassed my expectations. Dan and his crew were also just good people - respectful, hardworking, and they treated my property like it was their own. I rarely write reviews, but I was so impressed I felt it was worth sharing. Highly recommend this outfit!

Adler & Sons Tree Services was founded in 1978. This business provides both residential services…read more(e.g., tree trimming, tree removal, stump grinding, and lot clearing) and commercial services (e.g., development clearing, row/right-of-way clearing, and land clearing). They are an ISA-certified member and employ their own in-house arborist. My friend had previously hired Adler & Sons to prune her trees, and she highly recommended them for my trees. On the business's website, I filled out a form to ask for an estimate to trim my few trees. A few days later, a very courteous employee visited my property to view the trees and to give an estimate. The cost to trim, thin, shape, and deadwood my 3.5 trees (one tree is on a property line) and to haul away debris was $1,000. Of course, the cost to trim other customers' trees would vary based on the size and condition of the trees, any nearby structures, the season of year, etcetera. A couple of weeks later, workers arrived at my property to perform the work. They spoke to me very courteously. They parked one of their trucks on top of protective pads in my driveway. Two other trucks were parked in the street. For over two hours, the employees used saws and a bucket truck to trim dead branches off my trees, and they used rakes to clean debris off the ground. Now my trees and yard look great. I now consider Adler & Sons to be my #1 tree company, and I highly recommend that other people hire them. Please note that this business also sells its mulch, filter-sock and other compost, sawdust, screened topsoil, and aggregates such as gravel, limestone, and crushed concrete.

Their mailings and website say that they offer free consultations, so I filled out an online form for an inspection for the trees in my yard. Soon a friendly employee called me to schedule an appointment for the inspection. On the day of the inspection, the arborist called to ask if he could arrive early. Davey's arborists are ISA Certified, bonded, and fully insured. The arborist who did my inspection was named Vince, and he has a bachelor's degree in Forest Science from Penn State. Vince walked around my yard to view my trees. He spoke very nicely with me, and he thoroughly answered my questions. He said that my two back white oak trees were healthy and should be pruned every 5-7 years and that my small crab apple tree could be pruned with the same schedule unless I wanted to shape it more. I felt concerned about my front maple tree, because my neighbor's French drain and dry well go through its roots. Vince told me that some branches on top are dead but that the tree is viable. He will return in April to view the tree with leaves to determine if we should prune it for several hundred dollars or cut it down for a low four figures. Their prices for pruning and cutting are slightly higher than what other tree companies charge, but they employ actual arborists.

He has been exceptional with responding to any questions, detailed walk throughs and recommendations, communication, and doing several drop ins upon request when I have very specific questions that don't require treatment of plants or shrubs. He is so knowledgable and is never inconveinecned to come and help. I had a horrific exposure to poision ivy and virginia creeper on my property and had reached out to him to see if he could stop by to help me identify the plants, to which he did very promptly (not because he was charging me for a service, but because he takes such good care of his customers). He is so professional, I cannot say enough about working with him.

Perkins Tree Service prunes trees, removes trees, and grinds stumps. I have used this business…read moretwice--once to remove my backyard neighbor's tree (yes...) and once to remove four of my trees. In 2021, my backyard neighbor had a tall, dead tree that was near our property line and was very hazardous for several years. On a Friday, I contacted Perkins Tree Service to get an estimate. The owner Tom said that he would arrive for the estimate on a Saturday afternoon. On Saturday, he did NOT show up, so I contacted him, and he changed the appointment to a Sunday morning. On Sunday, Tom gave me an estimate of $875 plus $75 for grinding the stump. He said that he would be available to do the work on Tuesday morning--a wait of only two days! On the Tuesday, four workers from Perkins spent about one hour cutting down the tree. They used ropes and a chainsaw to remove the several large branches and a grinder to remove the stump. They did not damage the nearby fences or any other structures. In 2022, for my four trees, I contacted Tom on a Friday to get an estimate, and he said that he would give an estimate on Saturday or Sunday. He actually came out on Tuesday, and he gave an estimate of $500 to remove four ornamental trees and to grind their stumps. This current job was small, so Tom said that he would not make an appointment for it but would rather fit it in whenever he could in the next 1-2 weeks. Several days later, his crew removed the four trees. They did a very good job, so that only mulch was left behind. They cleaned up debris with a rake, leaf blower, and trash can. I deducted one star from my review because Perkins stood me up twice for estimates and because in 2023, I contacted Perkins again, but they never responded. Furthermore, my next-door neighbor set up an appointment for an estimate with Perkins in 2022, and they did not show up, so he hired a different company.

Work started strong but slacked off over the morning. They did the minimum work while I watched and then tapered off once I left to go inside. Asked the Rep to come back out as no one was available to check in with me upon completion. The crew just left. So, the person came back at the end of the day and met with us and I expressed my concern over the state of my yard and their work. I was told "we are not landscapers" (even though now I see it IS part of their name! And the lawn was not significantly damaged even though there were several large holes from when they had dropped wood from the trees and where their equipment on the paths they put down messed up the yard. Oh well. But then, I was told that the rep. was told by his crew to charge me more money for some extra trimming that was done and which I would gladly have paid for but they did next to nothing!! Many dead limbs still there, dead branches still hanging in tree. Every time I look at it I get angry! then, to have the Adler guy never apologize and get very defensive about the work they did, I would never recommend them! Choose another company!!! Oh! And I was told that "it's hard for them to tell which limbs are dead in order to trim properly. That could have been part of the conversation originally, no?! Very disappointing experience.
