Booked an appointment online, paid a deposit via the salon's booking app Booksy, and the salon was closed when I showed up for my appointment. I needed to come on here to express how happy I am with my hair after going to this salon! I have tried several times to get balayage, and the look that I wanted over the course of the past four years and finally almost gave up. Gigi SLAYEDDD my hair, she is so talented and warm and really everybody in the salon was super professional and welcoming. The salon itself is currently under construction but even that being said it is such a beautiful space with the best vibes and I can't wait to see it when it's 100% finished. They only use top-of-the-line products and it's very obvious that they have really put in the training and education needed to perfect their craft. I am so happy that I took a chance on this Salon, and that I got lucky to end up in Gigi's hands! Highly recommend! read more

I can NEVER get anyone on the phone here ... I want to do a big chop before the end of the year but I've been calling to ask a few questions before I go out of my way to book an appointment online. Originally I didn't have an issue placing an appointment online until I saw there was a mandatory deposit. I wouldn't mind leaving a deposit if someone was actually available to answer my questions before just handing over my money .... So upsetting too because I've heard so many amazing things about this location only to get NO help at all read more

What an awesome experience! After years of letting a botched dye job grow out to my natural color, I finally decided to try dying my hair again. On a whim, I booked an appointment over the phone with ease and was scheduled with Becky for a balayage in just a few days. I arrived at the salon and was greeted by a sea of friendly smiles (even though I was running late!) and had my consultation with Becky, who assessed my hair texture/color/length, reviewed the pictures of examples I liked, and gave me recommendations on what process and outcome I wanted. We decided on a warm honey balayage to compliment my skin tone and eye color. She even broke down projected costs on a sheet and had me sign before starting anything so that I was aware of expected costs of the treatments - so smart! The process took about 3 hours and went by quickly as the friendly staff was easy to talk to and offered water and coffee to make me feel at home. After the process I had my hair trimmed and styled and absolutely LOVE my results! Becky may be new to the hair game, but her game is STRONG! I couldn't recommend a better place if you are looking to make a change. read more

stay away from this disaster of a clueless business owner - jess! most unprofessional, unhinged, delusional clown of a person. her employees deserve better. she'll flake on you, shatter any time parameters you need, no-show on your wedding day...then feed you lies (if you can even get a response or hold of her) while stealing your money. read more

I'm honestly shocked to see bad reviews for this salon! I had a full balayage, cut and blow out with Frankie and I am obsessed with how my hair came out! Totally worth every penny! I found Frankie's Instagram through a friend and knew I wanted her to do my hair. I really appreciated the mini consultation that took place before the process began. Frankie nailed the look I was going for and really took her time to achieve the color I wanted. The salon is adorable, clean and trendy and they played such good music. I was really impressed by the ambiance. Everyone was so friendly and accommodating...you can tell that the stylists love their job and truly care about their customers at Bua. The service was good, staff is extremely friendly but I didn't like how my haircut came out. I just feel like it was rushed and the more I look at my hair the more I realize my hair is uneven. Just take all my money $$$ I am obsessed with Bua! Salon is nothing short of amazing! I have been dying to go to Jess for the longest and so glad this amazing hair goddess opened up her own salon. I literally spent almost 6 hours getting my hair to be the blonde I've always wanted to be. Huge shout out to Jess, Jon who tag teamed and put in work to get my locks to be legit on fleeeeeek. I'm so happy with the color, cut and style and I'm so glad I finally have a salon that I can call home. Everyone in the salon is so down to earth and I just love the whole vibe of the place - it just feels like a place you want to hang out in. Can't wait to come back. I came in for a color glaze to match my roots which is a light ash brown and left with black hair. Angela didn't even apply the color evenly half of my hairline doesn't have color. Angela then proceeded to tell me it's not black and it should wash out. It's been 2 weeks and I now have to go to another salon to get a full color correction. I've been asking for pictures of what colors she mixed and she won't send them to me. She ruined my hair. read more

The atmosphere is modern and reminds me of my old shoppe in Brooklyn. Unfortunately I had to give it 2 stars because my hair was completely destroyed. I really wanted to love it there. But sadly it took months and almost 4 inches off my hair to get it back to normal. They corrected it when I called. But still had remarks about my hair "looking like straw" was a bit traumatizing and ruined my self esteem until I finally fixed it and corrected everything (took about 8 months) I went for a blow out another time and it was a 2 hour ordeal. I decided not to go back after that. I do wish them the best. But my virgin hair was ruined trying to accomplish a balayage and i still kick myself for the absurd amount of money I had to spend on the service and repairing it my hair. Between purchasing Olaplex, haircuts, deep treatments and product. I finally have my hair back.! I spent 1,500+ between the services and haircuts and I hope they find ways to improve. I saw Jessica and a male I'm not sure his name. Becky was wonderful! And she did a wonderful time. I would see her again in the future if I didn't switch salons. read more

Victoria gave me brassy, orange, streaky, ugly looking chunky highlights. Then, when I was upset about it, told me it looked like that because she was trying to stay in my budget... which makes no sense because I was charged exactly what she quoted me at the beginning - $300 for ugly chunky highlights, plus $35 to use olaplex plus $25 for every extra bowl of lightener, (plus 20% off because my phenomenal usual stylist Meghan had left the salon permanently a day earlier. Red flag.) And because I had a wedding to go to, I went against my gut instinct that I should have walked out when Victoria, with her bad attitude and 1 year of experience, quoted me a price like that. I assumed I would at least get what I wanted. Nope, run away from this salon. Bua overall used to be pretty chill with decent stylists, but recently has just descended into chaos with no quality control. Owner, Jess, you should be ashamed for letting a client walk out with hair that looked like mine, then walk out AGAIN without the courtesy of a redo or any other compensation. PS instead of asking your clients to bury my review with fluffed up good reviews, you can always reach out to me directly to fix the situation. read more

Bua Salon - this is what $500 at bua salon gets you. - Hair Salons Near Me - Oceanside, New York

I made an appointment for a blowout at 9am on a Sunday in July for my bridal shower that day. I was charged a 50% deposit and had to fill out some weird questionnaire beforehand in order to keep the appointment, which already was a little bothersome. I received multiple emails to confirm I was still coming prior to the appointment. I get to the salon around 8:50am on that day and it wasn't open. Ok, I was a little early, I'll wait. 10 minutes go by and I see two other clients waiting outside the door. I walk up there and ask if anyone opened the salon yet but the door was still locked. At around 9:15am I emailed the salon to ask if anyone was on their way, to no response. I had a schedule to keep, so at around 9:25 I decided I couldn't wait any longer and had to leave to style my hair myself at that point. I also left a voicemail at the salon telling them that I had to leave and that I wanted my deposit back. I have not received any response from the salon, either a phone call or an email, and therefore had to file a dispute with my credit card! Luckily, they paid me (assuming that is because the salon never responded to the credit card company either). I will not be booking with Bua Salon anytime soon and anyone who asks for a salon recommendation in the area, I will vehemently tell them NOT to go here! read more

Before coming to Bua I did a ton of research on extensions. I wanted to find somewhere that would care about keeping my hair healthy but also make me look like I was blessed by the hair gods. I don't know if I could ever go without extensions again I'm so in love! read more

They deserve zeroooooo stars but they didn't let me post it if I didn't choose one star .... My hair looks horrendous , my hair was so GORG , I didn't dyed it for a year and half and it was so healthy. And I came to them and I was going to get balayage , and I got this look at the pictures and my hair was so beautiful , now is white green orange. And they won't give me my money back I went twice to fix it. IDK why my hair got worst. Do not go there and don't go with that girl name Lindsey she will burn u hair and lie to u, even if u bring pictures she will not do what u want in the pictures, that salon is brand new. I m so upset. I literally cry every day. My hair is so bad and is breaking a lot. Went here today for the first time today for a wash and blowout and I am very impressed with the service, quality and customer service of bua salon. Absolutely love this place and highly recommend it! I've seen Jess and Alex and couldn't be happier with my results. Aside from the amazing cut and blowout, the styling products they recommend really do work. They are very knowledgeable in ALL areas and aren't just trying trying to make a sale like other salons. I highly recommend this salon! Jess is seriously a miracle worker! My hair was red and faded...she completely transformed me back into the most beautiful natural blonde!!! Would never go to another salon! Jess is absolutely THE BEST! The other guys and chicks there are really good too. It's been a while since I got my hair done and when I go to get it blown out at other places, they always comment about how gorgeous my color is- even with it being grown out. And those pictures on the Instagram are 100% authentic. My picture was there and so was many of my friends, so they are legit. read more

Do not waste your money. Went as a group for hair and makeup. They talk a good talk beforehand but the finished product was terrible. We all agreed we should have blown our hair out ourselves as the finished product was falling out before we even got to the event just looked undone. Makeup was also done so heavy and lashes not glued enough and lifted on the edges. Very upsetting when you need to look your best for a special day. read more

The price I paid at the front after my service was way more than what was quoted to me. Charging for extra bowls of lightener is something I've never experienced at any other salon. Felt like if you're not part of the cool girl " bua babe " clique, you are not treated in a friendly or professional manner, other than by my stylist. My stylist did a great job, but she has since left, so I will not be going back to Bua. I will follow Meghan elsewhere and highly recommend her. read more

This salon deserves no less than 5 stars!! Búa is literally the best. I've been to like 4 different hair salons in the past few years and always left feeling underwhelmed. I came to Búa and was looking to chop my really long hair into a cute shoulder length bob and was scared I wouldn't be able to find someone to give me exactly what I wanted. Arianna and Becky were so welcoming and encouraging and made the sometimes scary visit to a hair salon so amazing! From the minute I stepped in the salon, to the minute I walked out the experience was nothing short of amazing. I left the salon and couldn't stop taking selfies because I finally love my hair! Definitely sticking with Búa for my hair appointments from now on!! I love my new hair and have gotten so many compliments on it. read more

Buyer beware!! This place will scam you with" bait and switch" pricing. I am dissatisfied with the lack of professionalism and quality with the staff and management. We were quoted a price then afterwards were bullied into paying over $500 in " cash only ", way much more then the quoted price. We needed to go to an alternative place to fix her hair in time for a family event. When asked about the change in price, management was rude and lied. I will be filing a report with the BBB and IRS in concerns to their shady practice. Avoid this scam, learn from our mistake of going here. read more

This place reminded me of the little shop of horrors. Bunch of really young, inexperienced girls doing hair. Everyone here tries really hard to be cool. Saw Becky for a simple glaze, she came over sat next to me and everything about the interaction was just FAKE. Terrible blow out (pulling my hair did nothing to help fix how tangled my hair had gotten from washing it and just continues to brush over it..OH and didn't even section my hair) when this was over I was having a hard time parting my hair and instead of helping until I got it right she left and started with her next client. LOL this place is a joke. Shame on me for not driving the extra 15 min to go to my usual salon. read more

I have been coming here for a while now, i booked an appointment with a someone that ive been seeing consistently, I get a call from the salon that she would not be Available for my appointment and that they had someone else available for me. i reach out to my stylist to see if there's another day I can book with her and come to find out that she would not be in because she quit! And they were not being upfront with me. I have been in there a few times where I ignored certain things that were going on in the salon such as ( inappropriate conversations about sex, clients waiting a long time to be seen, assistants doing work for Stylist and getting yelled at, the owner inappropriately touching the staff ) because I really do like how my stylist did my hair. I'm very happy to know that she no longer works there. She also let me know that she would be lowering her prices because Buas pricing is ATROCIOUS!!!!! $600+ for a highlight!!! City pricing on an industrial boulevard in oceanside. They messed up my hair so bad i had to take like 3 inches off because it was so dead AND I DIDNT HAVE BOX COLOR IN MY HAIR OR ANY RED OR BLACK My HAIR WAS A LEVEL 5 brown !!!! SAVE YOUR MONEY STAY AWAY FROM HERE !!! THEY ARE YOU BEST FRIEND UNTIL YOU WANT A REFUND!!! Mind you the guy who did my hair got fired right after and they wouldn't take responsibility for his mess up because supposedly " he burned them too"!!! I spent 2 months trying to get a refund because I got tired of asking for the stylist to fix my hair later to find out he couldn't because he was fired!!!! Sent a bunch of messages to the owner and then I finally got a phone call from the manager all friendly ( gave me some hope ! Thought I was actually dealing with real down to earth professionals but NOPE) she said after being on the phone with here for like 40 mins , I will talk to Jessica ( the owner) and get back to you another two weeks passed and nothing so I called and finally spoke to the manager again she simply said sorry we were burned to by Evan , there's nothing we can do you should have reached out to us right away ( i did ! I scheduled to come back in for them to fix it and they canceled on me and I was never able to get a hold of the stylist or the salon to fix it ! ) so i had to pay another salon to fix their mess up. I was on a time crunch getting ready to move out of the state ( this new hair style was supposed to be my NEW BEGINNING!) but they killed my confidence!!! please do your self a favor and steer clear of this over priced unprofessional salon! I been going to this salon for a year and a half. I called the salon to ask if they had the wefts coloring I want in stock and asked pricing. She told me they had them in stock and they were $125 a weft. She also confirmed my name and said you will get 50% when you get here will fix it in the computer. I drove 45 mins walked in and the owner Jessica saw who I was and that I am a client of a stylist who left that salon and went to a new one so she told me to have a seat. Whispered in the girls ear who was going to help me before she got to me and then the girl came over and suddenly the price went up and there was no 50% off. She said sorry the price is $159 A weft and I'm like oh ok you guys told me diff on the phone & also mentioned 50% off of my purchase for wefts she goes oh no that was mis communication I thought you were a "stylist Toni". Im like how am I a stylist when I told u I have a gift card on file and that I'm a customer there and you looked me up in the system. So basically there petty Bettys playing games because I am a customer of there old stylist Stephanie who no longer works there so my price went up and the discount went away because I don't get my extensions installed there. Also I had a gift card on file mind you they always look it up by phone number all of a sudden petty Betty at the desk needed the actual gift card and couldn't look it up. That's Untill I called them out on there games and suddenly she found it. Moral of the story, as a business owner you shouldn't play petty games and change pricing because your mad your customer is continuing to get her hair done with the girl she originally started with even if it's Not in your salon ! Buyer be ware! If your looking to damage your hair by color or extensions then definitely go here! The owner claims she is a handtied weft specialist yet she has no training. She was going to use me as model to practice this technique but instead she decided to charge me 3000... needless to say she installed them incorrectly and I am bald. The owner said don't worry it will grow back! She also lied and said she was certified and when I asked to see the certificate she admitted she wasn't certified. All I want is my money back because Unfortunately I cannot get my hair back. This salon is a total scam. They have a fake following on Instagram by followers they bought. THE best salon ever! For starters, the salon is super cute, trendy, and just feels like a great environment. All of the workers are super friendly and dress really well LOL. I have black hair so I never get any color work done but I have gotten a haircut by Lindsey and Becky and was completely happy with the results both times. They even finish the cut with their signature waves which I love because I can't do my own hair for shit.
