They scam foreigners with outrageously high prices. Stay away.

Ismail at Bu Kafa was recommend by locals in Istanbul. I needed something special for my long hair, which was going wild. Ismail was fantastic, knew exactly what I wanted and delivered a perfect style with great conversation, humor and skill. He is more than a guy who cuts hair in a fashionable salon. He is an artist, well versed in his craft, its history and techniques. It was really fun, esp. for someone like me who hates going to the "barber'. I read another comment about English being "little little". This is not the case at all--fabulous communications skills So, do not let this discourage you from going. I'm just for a few days in Istanbul and found this hair salon at yelp. The price for a haircut is 150 TRY and it was definetly worth of it! The hairdresser took his time, made it perfectly fine and exactly like I wanted. Even the language barrier (they speak little little English) it worked. Can recommend it! :) read more

This place is a total gem!!! I stumbled upon it while looking for somewhere to get a blow-dry. The second I walked in I was greeted by the receptionist with a warm smile and great energy. She immediately passed me along to a hair stylist who didn't speak much English but was literally the friendliest hair dresser I've ever had. I was offered water/tea/coffee by at least 3 different employees while my hair was being done. The hairdresser did a perfect job and worked quickly and efficiently. And it literally cost me $8 American (so much better than the $30-$40 they charge in L.A.!!!) the overall vibe in the salon was nothing short of awesome. Great people watching, super hip and friendly. I will definitely go back there next time I'm in Istanbul!!!!!! So refreshing to have such a great salon experience! read more

Visiting Istanbul for a week and wanted a mani/pedi to feel freshened up after a long flight from the U.S. They don't have a regular pedicure station like in the states but they totally make it work with a small soaking tub. Everything is completely sanitary. The manicurist took her time, was incredibly thorough, and made sure my nails looked perfect. Only cons: no lotion so no foot or hand massage, no base/top coat was used, and they could have a larger color selection. My husband enjoyed the salon so much that he decided to get a hair cut while we waited. Turned out great! Personal attention, precise work, and a trendy atmosphere make this a must visit salon in Istanbul. read more

What a great place! I had a disastrous haircut from another salon, and they managed to turn that into a great haircut. They only spoke a little English, but made a real effort to understand how I wanted my hair. The place has a very nice atmosphere, it's busy but friendly.
